"Where are you now?"

"At the Granger Residence party. What’s up?"

"If you have time, go check Central West Road." Brandan thought to himself that Iris Harris should have taken a taxi home, but felt uneasy and couldn’t help asking Alex Hawk to confirm, "Is Iris Harris over there?"

"Huh?"

Alex Hawk turned his head, looking at the lightning and thunder outside the window, "Why would she be over there?"

"My mom asked me to take her home," Brandan frowned, hesitated a bit, then said, "I got a call from Viola, so I asked her to get out and take a taxi home."

"Oh my God!"

Alex Hawk exclaimed, "How could there be any taxis in that godforsaken place! I’ll go check right now!"

Saying this, he hurriedly hung up the phone.

Listening to the busy signal buzzing from the phone, Brandan’s frown deepened.

He grew up in River City, so naturally, he knew that stretch of road was hard to find a taxi.

But at that time, he didn’t want to stay with Iris Harris any longer.

His mind had been very chaotic recently, thinking about that woman more than all the previous times combined.

He felt something was wrong with himself.

So when Viola called, he let Iris out of the car to restore normalcy and take a breath, hoping his mind would cool down to think about what was truly going on.

"Brandan..."

Viola walked over cautiously and asked, "Were you just with my sister?"

Brandan turned his head to glance at her, his tone faint, "What’s wrong?"

"I don’t mean anything..." Viola bit her rosy lip, whispered, "But my sister likes you so much, and you’re too close to her, I’m not happy about it."

Previously, when Viola showed this kind of jealous little demeanor, Brandan found it amusing and would coax her.

But now, his mood was tumultuous, with the thunderclaps making it impossible for him to find peace.

He didn’t want to admit it, yet had to acknowledge he was now concerned about Iris.

"She came to my house for dinner, my mom asked me to take her back, what’s wrong with that?"

His tone was a bit impatient.

Viola quickly shook her head, "I really didn’t mean it like that!"

She didn’t expect her one sentence would cause Brandan’s tone to turn so cold.

"After all, you came to see me." Viola smiled slightly, looking a bit happy, "In your heart, I’m still more important, as long as that’s the case, I’m satisfied."

Brandan didn’t say anything, he raised his head to look at the rain curtain, holding the phone, waiting for Alex’s call.

His silence made Viola’s heart unexpectedly anxious.

Women are always sensitive, even more so when the man they like is Brandan, any subtle change, she could sense it.
