Chapter 86: The Couple’s First Fight.
Morning.
Conan’s Bungalow.
Critic Arley, Critic-Ishire.
***********
Conan was calmly getting dressed for the day in the bedroom when Helena barged in, her hand clutching a rectangular box as she smiled through the walk.
"Sir obnoxious..." she trailed.
"Yes, lady clingy" he answered absentmindedly, his hands arranging the waist of his trousers.
She gulped as she stared at his chiselled fine body, he appeared dry from the bath but the soap he had used permitted the air.
"Helena?" Conan called, his voice hoarse.
He had seen the tinge of lust in her eyes but he was a knight and he had resistance.
Strong resistance he told himself.
"Did you get me a gift?" she asked breathless.
He throws his clothes on as he asks. "A gift?"
"Well I know I’m very aggravating so you finally saw my sweet side and now you are getting me gifts," she said sweetly.
He approached her. "Helena I am clueless of what you are talking about" he confessed.
She brought her arms to his face level. "Did you not buy this for me?"
With furrowed brows, he got closer to her and took the box from her. "What is this?" he asked.
"I do not know" she lets out before asking back. "What is it?"
"Why do you think I... Oh!" his eyes look up in realization.
Helena perked up "Oh? What is it?"
"Something Lord Theodore purchased for his wife," he said.
Her palm became jelly and she let it go, Conan caught it swiftly.
His eyes widened as he asked her "What is wrong with you? I shall return it today" he informed her.
Her eyes sparkled. "Let me come along," she said, she had felt a little hurt and stupid for thinking he got something for her.
He did not.
"No, you are staying back, away from that mansion" he declared.
Helena raised a brow. "But she has extended her invitation" she whined.
Conan looked taken aback. "And you are excited to be there?"
"Of course, she is my friend," she said affirmatively.
"Are you - get dressed" he shook his head and left the room for her.
"We are going to the Theodore mansion" she whispered to herself after he left the room.
Goosebumps coat her arm immediately.
"I am going to Theodore’s mansion" A shiver ran down her spine before she sprinted for the bathroom to get ready.

Noon.
Theodore’s Mansion.
Critic Arley, Critic-Ishire.
***************
Theodore laughed lightly at his wife over excitement.
"Lydia, these are not enough to make you rich" he pointed out.
She narrowed her eyes on the gemstones. "What? Why? Do they not look precious to you?"
"You have only a handful" he pointed out, he was now at an arm’s length closer to her.
She smirked. "There’s a realm of them down there" she pointed out.
"Let me" She started to pocket the gems that she had gathered, she was planning to dive back in for more.
"You can swim" Theodore pointed out awed.
She met his eyes. "Of course I can, I learned" she lets out.
"When?"
She shrugged. "The few times I sneaked out with Mathilda" her answer is easy and true.
"We would do laps and laps and I am going back inside" she said with a smile and Theodore caught the last message too late.
"Lydia-" but she was back inside the lake cutting his protest off.
"Gooseberry" he whispered, resigned before diving right after her.
She reached the element and she saw them again nestled like eggs laid by a fish.
She started to point them to Theodore, but he appeared confused.
She frowned as she directed him closer, their movement fluid. She looked at the space and then at him but he shook his head, she stretched her arm and in a scoop, she packed a handful again.
Theodore nodded now, as he could now see the gems in her palm. Lydia smiled before she pointed at the now sandy place to him, he frowned before scouping but as he opened his palm, there was only sand.
Lydia gasped making water rush into her mouth and that triggered Theodore into high alert, quickly he was grabbing her and he swam them to the bank.
"I am alright Theodore, did you see that?"
He was carrying her bridal style now, despite now confirming that she could swim whenever he remembered how he had almost lost her to this same lake, he shuddered so seeing her gasp in a chunk of water he had panicked. Her arms are around his neck, her palms both tightly closed as she holds onto the gems.
"Where are you going?"
He ignored her, lost in his head and his goal to get her out of there. There had reached far into the lake he wondered how he let that happen.
"Let me down here, we still need to confirm something," she said as he neared the water bank.
"You have played enough today Gooseberry Let’s get you warm" he said calmly.
He could’ve lost her and it wouldn’t have been in the hands of the big bad enemy he was preparing for.
He could’ve lost her and it wouldn’t have been because she didn’t choose him.
He could’ve become alone again and it would have been because of his negligence.
She wiggles again. "Put me down, Theodore"
"Lydia, enough!" he barked, making Lydia flinch in his arms, his voice has reverberated in his chest shaking her to her core.
Shade appeared the next second, his head bowed.
"No need to shout" Lydia mumbled as she hid her face in his neck.
He squeezed her tighter, his heart beating so strong Lydia felt it was beating for both of them.

Bedroom, Theodore Mansion.
Critic Arley, Critic-Ishire.
***************
Theodore walked up to Lydia’s wardrobe to help her select a dress, he hadn’t meant to shout at her earlier but he had lost it to his nerves.
Losing Lydia meant losing himself and failing again.
And he wouldn’t let that happen, not this time around.
Not in this life.
In a life where he finally had her.
"What colour of a dress do you wish to wear?"
He had dropped her in the bathroom to get a warm bath but she had been too silent since she had sank into the bathing pool and only came out just now.
She stayed mute to his question.
"I am bringing blue" he alerted.
"I wore blue yesterday" she countered.
Still in her bath cloak, she slowly approached the bed.
"Okay, red then," he said, rummaging through her wardrobe.
She scoffed. "It is the first day of a new month" Theodore did not understand what that meant but perhaps Lydia had her reasons he thought.
"Oh, White" he concluded already pulling it out.
She paused in her steps and said to him. "You want me to look like a ghost?"
He frowned his patience slipping. "I see the pink is nice, will you wear it?" he asked.
"The pink I have is too heavy" she whined.
He sighed already picking a black one. "Do you want a black one then?"
"It is not a funeral around here" she retorted quickly.
He let the dress go at the same time as he roared. "What do you want Lydia?!"
She froze, her eyes widening as she asked almost too calmly. "Why are you yelling?"
"Because you almost died!"
The room stills.
Lydia gulped as tears blurred her eyes, she remembered, she remembered after he had yelled the first time. That day everything had happened so fast she hadn’t thought of what made her fall.
She hadn’t fallen Like she had wanted to believe, she was pushed.
Mira had pushed but instead of recollecting that, her mind only took the drowning up.
She could swim, she knew she could, and she wanted to but she couldn’t. She had felt her lungs constrict and her eyes try to see, her arms failing to support her and being so alone.
"Because for more than a moment, I thought you were going to leave me again"
She had felt alone too, she had looked and wanted to see Theodore but he wasn’t there, she had been scared of losing him before she could have him.
"Because you were in arms, motionless and cold" he relayed, his arms flaying.
She had hated herself for not replying to his declaration of love because she thought they had time but that time was coming to an end and she could only gasp water, struggle to keep up with him and fail again.
He nodded he’s throat working. "Because for hours I was forced to watch you pale and ready to give up on me, Lydia, that is why"
He was resigned at this point, both his palms met his face, ran down and his shoulders tightened.
Slowly Lydia undid her bathcloak, her fingers shaky yet determined.
The white material fell to the ground with a soft sound, she drew in a deep breath as a new air hit her.
"I want to be naked" she whispered.
"Gooseberry" he groaned but as he turned she was standing there in all her glory.
A beauty to be fought with charm.
A body waiting to be worshipped.
He gulped as lust suddenly became the only oxygen to breathe.
His eyes met hers and he knew she felt the same.
