Lord Theodore's Favorite Ritual -
Chapter 84: Mira The Maid Is Missing.
Chapter 84: Mira The Maid Is Missing.
Dear Critic.
A beast I hear?
Oh, how much time has changed and now the society fights its leaders for the wrong reasons.
Lord Theodore indeed has a dark mansion but a beast that causes harm? From a drunkard, you all heard and decided to put a tag on your foreheads as you matched to the judgements gate.
You shall never find the drunkard so perhaps you start apologizing for your uncalculated straightforwardness or you come to terms with working for all of your remaining life.
A piece of the marketplace is now ashes, please do not forget to thoroughly scour.
And oh, the opulence jewellery shop, you should not have messed with the lady.
Yours Pointedly,
Muckraker.

Yesterday, evening.
Marketplace.
Critic Arley, Critic-Ishire.
***************
Theodore left Lydia in front of the jewellery shop with a smile. His smile dropped as he stalked off somewhere, his steps precise and sure.
He paused suddenly and then with very attentive ears he turned towards a spot directly.
"Noah" Theodore growled and the knight slowly came out of his hiding.
"Yes, Lord... your highness!" he stuttered.
Theodore stood brooding and menacing he asked the frightened maid. "What might you be doing in Critic Arley?" at Noah’s slow response he added a question "Were you perhaps following me?"
Noah bowed slightly his demeanour changing. "No, I was only-" a voice interrupts his reply.
"Your Majesty seeks your presence, your highness," the voice said, Theodore looked behind him to find a royal knight, one he was familiar with.
Leo.
He raised a brow at him and then the space. "Where is he then?"
"In the Citadel, your highness" Leo replied.
Theodore chuckled darkly. "And I am supposed to go there?"
His stance became predatory as he pinned both the knights with a look.
"Does he not know that I have a wife now?"
"Tell this to Salvatore, if I find any of you snooping around me, my wife or my mansion again then I shall be in the citadel without him having to call me" he enunciated, his words one by one.
"Yes," Leo said.
Noah board before replying. "Yes, your Highness"
Theodore doesn’t bother stopping them from calling him Your Highness. It had been etched deep in their bones to refer to every royal as a highness and frequent words from Theodore for them to stop would only be punishment.
"The meeting will soon be held, he need not miss me too much, I am coming to him" he pointed out.
They stood still perhaps waiting for him to allow them to leave.
"Keep your oily faces away from me" he added.
They bowed and as they turned to leave, his next comment came out.
"And what is it with you? Are you cheating on your wife?"
Leo paled as he started to stutter out words. "Ah... No, your Highness I just, it..." Theodore smirked, sometimes he got a kick out of toying with people.
Leo had started cheating on his wife for almost a year now with a damsel who sold snakes. A which from Critic Ishlem in the citadel flourishing.
"Go back to Salvatore, and Noah? Hound say hello"
"Thank you Lord Theodore" he breathed, his face red.
They turned and they could walk but the hot gaze they felt on their head as Theodore followed them with his eyes was overwhelming and soon they started to walk faster. Said steps turned into a sprint after a while.
"Lord Theodore" In his peasant attire, Theodore veered around to be met with his friend’s face.
"Viscount Victore" he responded with his acknowledgement.
"What are you doing in our city?" Victore asked with a straight face.
Theodore nodded in understanding. "Why is your belly protruding? Are you cheating on your wife?" he narrowed his eyes at the end of the question.
They started to stroll as they continued to talk.
"How does cheating on a wife affect a protruding belly?"
Victore genuinely invested in the topic that Theodore had picked.
Theodore paused in his steps, spread his arms and said. "I am a married man now evidently, if you need any marital advice you can talk to me" Victore watched him with empty eyes.
"Theodore I got married before you" he deadpanned.
"And evidently? You are dressed like a hunter" he jabbed, his elegant brow lifted and they continued walking.
Theodore shook his head in disappointment, this made a few of his locks release from the hair band. "You never had the eyes Victore" he commented.
"I was also in Critic Arley before you, I saw this city first" Victore gloated, his steps bouncy.
"Victor you were born here" Theodore deadpanned.
"That is the same thing to the empire" the viscount retorted without missing a beat.
Theodore shook his head in defeat as Victore was right, he had been here longer than Theodore had and he had contributed greatly to evolving the marketplace. One that has become so large and famous.
"I am on my way to get something for my beautiful wife, learn from the best," Theodore said as they continued their walk. "Or one day I might feed you to Red" he added making Victore chuckle.
"We both know he wasn’t that powerful" Victore countered. He was referring to the passing friend Theodore had who had gifted him Red.
"But Red is powerful, stop spoiling my mood Victore, focus on persuading your belly however way you can to stop growing" he retorted.
"Perhaps I should ask my wife to kiss it," Victore said with a smirk.
Theodore scoffed. "I told you to take marital advice from me, you are terrible at this thing" his jab met a smirk on Victore’s face. "We should avoid each other until the meeting I don’t want to keep seeing your belly" he said again.
Unconsciously Victore looked down to his belly.
"You finally looked!" Theodore announced as he started to laugh.
Victore’s chest rumbled as he said. "Theodore you’re never growing up"
"If I was not grown up I would touch it" Theodore pointed out.
Victore agreed with a nod. "I am going to pick up Cesita, take care of your wife," he said to his friend.
Theodore rearranged his scarf on his neck as he muttered "See you tomorrow" to the viscount.
"Tomorrow it is" Victore agreed.
They parted ways with small smiles on their faces.
They had both ended up meeting their wives in the same place and it wasn’t pleasant until it became ashes.

Morning.
Theodore Mansion.
Critic Arley, Critic-Ishire.
***************
Morning reached and Theodore after whispering ’Good morning, Gooseberry’ which Lydia had mumbled ’Good morning, Lord husband’ too he had left for his office in the mansion while Lydia let the maids get her ready for the month.
She stepped out fresher and prettier, she then looked at the furniture that Solomon had finished and was satisfied, now they would need a worker for the chandeliers and slowly no one shall come to the lords’ mansion and not get a cup of tea in a bright home.
A knock on the door.
"Come inside" she mumbled.
"Lady Theodore I have an issue to report" Hound alerted to Lydia who sat on her reading chair, she had picked a geography book and was looking for where in the mansion would be good for husbandry.
"Oh, Hound what is it? The mansion?" she fired questions quickly, her hand moving to drop the book.
Hound walked closer to her seat, yet kept a distance so she wouldn’t have to strain her neck too much.
"Yes, Lady Theodore but first I wish to apologize for my behaviour when I just woke up" he said.
"Oh no, Hound I am happy you are alive, you were unconscious for more than a day" she rasped.
She had felt too relieved when he had woken up for any other emotion to surface. Then her relief had turned to concern when he refused to act normal or out of his head.
She was happy when he came back.
"Thank you Lady Theodore" he expressed his gratitude, his lips appeared healthy and pink today, his eyes no longer lined too darkly with coal.
"What is happening in the mansion?"
Lydia’s question made him draw a deep breath.
"Mira is missing" he announced.
Lydia frowned. "What?" she rose from her seat in shock. "Where did she go?" she started to head out of the library.
"I checked her room and it appeared she must not have been there since after the night of..." he trailed off. She paused in her steps.
"What night?" she asked with a frown, she wondered why he had stopped talking abruptly.
"Two nights ago, Lady Theodore" he clarified.
He had caught himself when he recalled she hadn’t known about the beast protest that happened that night.
Theodore wished for it to remain that way.
Soon, Lydia was at the gates to confirm that Mira was no longer there, it appeared she had gone out for a day or two now.
Where could she have gone to? She mused, her lips right.
Lydia felt a small headache as she thought about too much so she dropped the thought.
As she intended to go back into the mansion, two figures that drew her attention suddenly emerged.
