Chapter 82: The work of first lab master
Forsyx just summoned all 20 green goblins in the grassland for now.
With rabbits already there, they could stay there for some time, but he had some other plans for them. Too bad he lacked the resources to buy any new terrain right now.
Not thinking much, he looked at Weyril and said, "Come on, it’s time to see the lab."
Weyril nodded his head with interest.
Now that Forsyx already had one core species, he decided not to delay exploring the lab any longer.
Also, he still had not seen what changes the red egg had made to the lab.
He stared at the half-open big metal gate, which had been like this since the second upgrade, waiting for his entry.
The moment he took his first step inside the lab, the heavy gate behind them started shifting back, and suddenly a large amount of fog appeared around him.
The next moment, Forsyx found himself surrounded by white fog.
He moved around a bit when suddenly the fog started to disappear, and he found himself in this weird projection state, flying before a bright, shiny silver lab.
It was like he was looking at a past version of the lab itself.
Not only that, what shocked him was the variety of different terrains stretched all around the lab.
To the left of the lab was a massive forest full of a variety of beasts.
To the right was a massive desert filled with gigantic snakes, scorpions, and death worms.
The front area of the lab was full of massive snow-covered mountains where different kinds of monsters were roaming.
While the back side had a series of islands surrounded by the deep ocean.
These were just the tip of the iceberg. He could see, up above in the sky, that multiple islands were floating.
Even at the edge of the horizon, he saw a volcano going off, far away from the lab.
Surrounded by all these terrains, there was a single weird silver box at the center of a massive grassland.
Last time, he had been so stunned by the sudden shift that he missed many details, but this time he paid extra attention to the variety of creatures roaming those areas.
This was a vision of how the first lab master used to operate the lab.
At that moment, a figure covered in black fog walked out of the lab.
It looked up at him and then snapped its fingers.
The next moment, everything around the lab disappeared, and he saw the familiar black land surrounding the silver lab.
The next second, a blob of white light moved out of the silver lab.
This mysterious creature floated to the side of the lab, then he saw it planting a bunch of small trees at some distance away from the lab.
It started caring for these trees, and soon enough, that small area transformed into a thriving forest.
At this moment, Forsyx heard a mechanical voice echo inside his mind.
[To be a Template Wilder, you need to learn how to manipulate a life form for your use. The first step in that is to create a stable environment for your creatures.]
Before his eyes, multiple flowers bloomed around the forest, with shrubs and grass covering the black land.
Right before his eyes, the barren black land transformed into a vibrant forest.
Then he saw the white blob, taking out two small rats and leaving them in the forest.
[The second is to introduce the creatures and get familiar with them.]
Even with all the trees in front of him, he could track the movement of the rats. It was like he could see past the green plantation.
He saw them rapidly increasing.
The pair of rats became 10, then 100, and soon expanded all over the forest.
The white blob that had stayed around the forest this whole time moved once again.
This time, he saw it taking a dozen rats to the lab. The next second, multiple projections of rat template cards appeared above the lab.
[The third step is to create the template card out of these beings.]
Now, even though he could not see the numbers on the cards, he did notice that the intensity at which these cards radiated was different.
The white blob floated to the brightest card, and then the other 11 cards slowly started to disintegrate.
In the past, all of this was more of a visual show for him, but this time, he understood the basic meaning behind the scene.
The white blob had just used that dozen rats to create Template Cards from them, and the brightest card likely represented the best out of the twelve cards.
So it placed that one in the storage slot, while the others were left outside, which caused them to deteriorate over time.
[But just having the creature is not enough. You need to introduce evolution to these creatures.]
The next second, he saw the blob moving around and started creating many terrains from the ice mountains to the scorching desert all around the lab.
The blob then ruthlessly sent a massive batch of rats and spread them across different areas.
[There are five base branches to introduce evolution. The first branch method: Natural Evolution. The slowest, but most stable path to introduce evolution.]
At that, everything blurred around him except for the first forest.
There, he saw rats running around—eating, fighting each other, reproducing, and dying.
They were basically living their lives, and generation after generation of these white rats enjoyed their life.
But in a few corners of the forest, he saw some changes.
In some areas, the size of the rats started to increase.
There were just a few big rats at first, but soon they reached the hundreds.
What happened next was that these big rats, instead of eating grass, started hunting other small rats.
That was a trigger moment—as the rats in this plain, simple forest slowly started to shift.
In some parts, variants of different-colored rats started to appear. A few rats started to grow big nails and sharp teeth.
From time to time, the blob took out different kinds of rats and created Template Cards from them. What was interesting was that some of these cards had one different colored line on them. These showed that rats started to learn skills for their survival.
[The first stage of evolution always begins with the development of skills in these creatures.]
