Chapter 77: The trade and network setter

Forsyx opened the reward interface and focused on the last item from the kit.

[The Trade and Network Setter Gem.]

This was a simple item that connected his lab to the outside world.

He desperately needed a suitable creature for himself.

Not wasting another moment, he just took out the gem from his inventory and crushed it.

The next moment, a small black interface popped in front of him.

Ding!

Forsyx looked at the names with interest.

His actions in the game determined each of these names.

The first one was probably about the two beasts, while the second one likely referred to how he stole the egg from others.

As for the last one, it probably referenced his last fight as the dire wolf.

Well, there wasn’t much to these names, so he decided to choose Black_Scourge.

It was the most interesting of the three.

As he tapped on the interface.

Ding!

[Congratulations, Black_Scourge, you have become part of the Beast Warriors Chat Group.]

[The Trade Section has been opened to you. Current member count (23/56)]

Another small black window popped up in front of him.

[ Welcome to the Beast Warrior Chat Group.

Forsyx couldn’t help but smile as he joined the same group from his last life.

This was a special chat group among players whose classes revolved around a limited number of special monsters across all six servers of the game.

Even though everyone here had different class mechanics, they each had a class that revolved around one core monster.

In his case, it was his baby Nyxthar’s template card.

The protection of ancient creatures formed the core of his class.

Though he wasn’t sure if that was still true, as he had to wait for the next monster awakening cycle to find out.

Others here were also in a different variant of a similar situation.

He recognized two veterans from his past life, Unknown_Darkness and Cold_Body.

In his previous life, he had obtained the Template Wilder class much later, while others were already far ahead in the game.

Especially those two; they were practically at the pro level.

They were the kind of players he could only look up to but never talk to.

All he knew was that Unknown_Darkness came from the 3rd server and Cold_Body from the 2nd server.

As for Invisible_Snail, he didn’t know about this guy.

This person must have failed before Forsyx joined the chat group in his previous life.

From experience, he knew that around 30-40% of players in this chat group had their characters erased within two years.

He had seen a few during his time in the group and eventually became one of those failures.

He had bittersweet memories of this whole chat group, but things would be different this time.

The moment he saw the trade counter, he couldn’t help but raise his eyebrow.

There were already 56 players in the entire game who were bound to monsters.

In Apex Ascension, there was a big difference between monster-related and monster-bound classes.

Monster-related classes were your typical summoner, necromancer, beast tamer, and similar builds.

These classes typically relied on monsters, but they weren’t restricted to any particular monster or NPC faction.

In Apex Ascension, all NPCs and monster factions were typically divided into three groups:

First was the Inlanders.

These were the species that currently lived in the game world.

This included common in-game races like humans, elves, orcs, dwarves, and more.

For example, in the Rowail Kingdom, both the human NPCs and the royal harpy monsters under the Wind Monarch would count as Inlanders.

Then the second were the Invaders.

These were creatures trying to enter and control the game world.

There were multiple parallel worlds, big and small, surrounding the game world.

For some reason, most creatures from those worlds wanted to enter the main game world, while the Inlanders tried to stop them.

Most Invaders used three main methods to breach the game world: the space cracks, the dungeon invasion, and the tower descent.

The first was through a space crack, which led to the creation of wild zones.

The presence of wild zones wasn’t just a random in-game mechanic meant to provide monsters to players.

No, each monster zone was actually an invading point in the game world where a space crack opened, which was connected to some other world.

The canine forest next to the beginner blackwater village was one such monster zone connected to an area ruled by canines.

In the initial stage, a space crack would allow a boss monster and some common monsters to pass through into the world.

Now, it was the work of these monsters to expand the wild zone around the space crack.

The larger the area they controlled, the more monsters would be able to come out of the space cracks.

The biggest downside of this method was that every creature that came out of a space crack was limited to staying within a certain perimeter around the space crack. Which was usually the edge of the wild zone.

Usually, what happened was that the local population within the game, which in the Rowail kingdom case meant the Human NPCs of Blackwater Village, opposed these monster expansions.

This stagnated the growth of the wild zone.

The one thing about the space crack was that it only appeared next to populated areas. So most of the time, it was in the inlander’s hands to decide how big the wild zone would grow before interfering with its expansion.

Once the expansion stopped, the space crack would close temporarily while also creating a restricted area around the wild zone.

This restricted zone would limit the entry of powerful creatures into the wild zone. Like in the case of the canine forest, the level limitation was just level 10.

If any creature beyond level 10 tried to enter the region, it would face severe backlash and multiple restrictions.

This was the reason that Mother Hibiki’s snake inside that forest was barely at a third of its actual power.

Now, there were a lot of mysteries around the wild zones, like how the second boss monster entered the wild zone.

Or how even Hibiki’s monster ended up in a beginner wild zone in the first place, but overall, the method of wild zones was still considered tame.

Compared to this method, the other two had a higher success rate for the invaders.
