Lethal Stunner: Kicking Off with Five Beast Husbands -
Chapter 60: Huaiqing’s Prophecy
Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Huaiqing’s Prophecy
"You knew?" Mo Jiao’s suspicious gaze fell on Su Ye.
Su Yejin’s golden eyes met his indifferently. "The black market, he’s the one who blew it up."
"What?" Yu Yunxiao gasped in surprise.
Even Mo Jiao’s expression became peculiar.
He remembered leaving the black market shortly before it was destroyed.
At the time, he had suspected it might’ve been Su Ye or Que Zelian, but he’d never once considered Huaiqing.
"Quite the hidden depths." Mo Jiao clicked his tongue.
Xiao Jinsheng had been staying in her room ever since she returned home. Sitting in front of the dressing table, she stared blankly at the Nine-Star Star Stone diamond ring on the ring finger of her left hand, Huaiqing’s words replaying in her mind.
A short while back, Huaiqing had told her, "A new set of rules will be announced on the terminal in half a month. There will be a limited-time competition with generous rewards. Females must participate with their Beast Husbands as a family unit. Each family must bring at least seven Beast Husbands, excluding the female herself."
At the time, Xiao Jinsheng, who was in Demon Territory, hadn’t spoken much with Huaiqing. The three minutes they had shared had left her doubting the authenticity of Huaiqing’s claims.
But Huaiqing had directly granted her life-and-death permissions.
Just like Mo Jiao had previously, that moment symbolized entrusting his entire life into her hands.
With one thought, she could’ve used the permissions to erase Huaiqing’s existence without harming her own spiritual power.
Xiao Jinsheng still remembered Huaiqing’s calm expression when he told her, "I can sign the divorce agreement, but I hope you will think it over. At least wait half a month to prove that my prophecy about the terminal’s rule modification is true."
As he spoke, Huaiqing gave Xiao Jinsheng a deep and meaningful look. "In the prophecy, I saw Bai Yan."
"Bai Yan? What’s she done to me now?" Xiao Jinsheng, upon hearing Bai Yan’s name, couldn’t help but react strongly.
"She entered the competition with her Beast Husbands, came in first, and received the terminal’s promised mysterious reward," Huaiqing answered.
"But isn’t she supposed to have only six Beast Husbands?" Xiao Jinsheng was puzzled.
Huaiqing shook his head, indicating that the fragments of prophecy he had seen were incomplete and that he didn’t know much more.
Given the possibility of the terminal’s rule modifications, and with half a month left before deciding on the divorce, Xiao Jinsheng, after much deliberation, agreed to Huaiqing’s request.
"Rule modifications on the terminal?" Xiao Jinsheng questioned as she flipped to check the original plot provided by the Divine Gold System, growing increasingly speechless the more she read.
The terminal modifying its rules wasn’t mentioned in the original story.
Considering how unreliable the Divine Gold System had been, Xiao Jinsheng began to doubt whether this plot was pirated from some third-rate website.
Just as Xiao Jinsheng was inwardly cursing the Divine Gold System, sounds of fighting erupted from outside.
Startled, Xiao Jinsheng hurried downstairs to find her five Beast Husbands standing at the yard’s gate.
Curious, she stepped closer, discovering that the fight was happening at Bai Yan’s house next door.
Their car was still parked by the roadside, indicating they had just returned.
Jin Ao was locked in combat with a muscular man with short green hair and horns atop his head.
"Jin Ao, Xi Qu, stop fighting! Please stop!" Bai Yan tearfully pleaded on the sidelines.
Gritting his teeth, Jin Ao clenched his fists, unleashing a flurry of golden arrow-feathers that hurtled toward the green-haired man.
Xi Qu sneered, his figure dissolving into a blur of green light. In the blink of an eye, he landed a powerful kick on Jin Ao, sending him flying a hundred meters away.
Jin Ao hit the ground hard, spitting out a mouthful of blood, feeling as though his internal organs had shifted inside his body.
With a fierce glare and unwilling expression, he looked up only to see Xi Qu standing over him, one hand casually in his pocket while his other arm wrapped possessively around Bai Yan.
Looking down on him from a superior height, Xi Qu mocked, "Golden Flood Dragon? Just an overgrown worm that evolved. Do you really think you’re a true dragon, challenging me?"
"Xi Qu, can you stop taunting Jin Ao? It’s all my fault. If it weren’t for me, none of this would’ve happened," Bai Yan sobbed pitifully.
Holding her effortlessly with one hand, Xi Qu smiled gently to pacify her. "Alright, alright. As long as he doesn’t provoke me, I won’t hit him again."
"For Bai Yan’s sake, I’ll spare your life, you insignificant insect," Xi Qu sneered as he carried Bai Yan casually past her other Beast Husbands and into the house.
Xiao Jinsheng and her family stared from their own yard in stunned silence.
"What’s going on over there?" Xiao Jinsheng asked.
"Apparently, Bai Yan got separated from her Beast Husbands while in Mist West, ran into danger, and was rescued by that man, Xi Qu. By the time Jin Ao and the others found her, they stumbled upon Bai Yan and Xi Qu completing the Contractual Totem bond. Not only did they get married, but they’ve also... consummated it," Yu Yunxiao explained.
Xiao Jinsheng was shocked. "How do you know so much about this?"
Hearing her question, Yu Yunxiao, who had been the first to run out and eavesdrop, looked a little embarrassed.
He replied, "When Jin Ao and Xi Qu were fighting, Jin Ao shouted it out, accusing Xi Qu of seducing his female."
"Seven Beast Husbands," Xiao Jinsheng marveled, quickly glancing at Huaiqing. He met her gaze briefly before walking to a spot further away.
Xiao Jinsheng followed him, only to hear him say, "I’ve seen that man, Xi Qu, in my prophecy. Nine-star Superpower."
"So your prophecy was correct," Xiao Jinsheng mused.
Otherwise, Huaiqing’s prediction that the terminal would change its rules to require seven Beast Husbands would have been sheer coincidence.
And now Bai Yan’s household had a new addition, bringing her count to exactly seven—an artful feat indeed, befitting the original story’s heroine.
All was aligning perfectly with Huaiqing’s prophecy.
Xiao Jinsheng had barely wrapped her head around this when Bai Yan came knocking at her door.
Usually, it was Jin Ao accompanying Bai Yan, but this time, her new man, Xi Qu, stood by her side.
Xi Qu’s sharp gaze swept over Que Zelian and the others, his disdain evident when he noticed their highest power level was merely Six Stars.
"Jinsheng, you’ve just gotten back, right?" Bai Yan asked with a bright smile, as if she’d entirely forgotten the argument they had not long ago.
"What do you want?" Xiao Jinsheng’s tone was icy as she smirked.
"Oh, nothing much. I just noticed you were back and thought I’d drop by to see you," Bai Yan replied sweetly before pulling Xi Qu forward to introduce him. "Xi Qu, this is my sister Jinsheng. Jinsheng, this is my newest Beast Husband, Xi Qu."
"Oh~" Xiao Jinsheng’s smile turned meaningful. "So you brought him over to show him off, huh?"
"I see now. Normally, it’s always Jin Ao with you. What’s with the man-swap today?"
Hearing her words, Xi Qu frowned, and Bai Yan’s smile froze awkwardly.
"This your biological sister?" Xi Qu asked Bai Yan, his tone low.
Bai Yan smiled awkwardly and shook her head. "We just grew up together in the same sanctuary."
"That explains it," Xi Qu sneered, his condescending gaze sweeping over Xiao Jinsheng and her entourage. "But how are all of you so weak? The female is weak, and so are her Beast Husbands."
"Were you really raised in the same sanctuary?" Xi Qu mocked as he cast a sidelong glance at Bai Yan.
Bai Yan lightly tapped his arm in mock irritation. "They’re not incapable—they just got delayed because Jinsheng hasn’t let them take on any Star Map Tasks since getting married six months ago. Thankfully, she’s made amends now and stopped beating them, and they’re willing to take on tasks again."
"You beat your own Beast Husbands?" Xi Qu’s loathing stare shifted to Xiao Jinsheng as he grabbed Bai Yan’s hand and started walking away. "Don’t treat her as a sister anymore. Any female who hits her own men can’t be good. You’re soft and kind-hearted—if you’re not careful, she might even hit you someday."
