Legendary FBI Detective
Chapter 395: The Battle Inside the Alley, Mona Who Dislikes Overtime

North Los Angeles, in an alley on the east side of a halfway house.

Next to two trash cans in the middle of the alley, a plainly dressed middle-aged white couple was busy doing something. The man had a ferocious look and acted swiftly, while the woman faced away from him with an expressionless face, looking down counting the US Dollars in her hands.

Just then, an uninvited guest suddenly ran into the alley, causing the man to halt his actions abruptly, and the woman quickly stuffed the US Dollars into her bosom.

The newcomer was Sampson. He had intended to quickly pass through this alley and shake off Luo An and the others by reaching another street at the alley's end.

But what Sampson didn't expect was that the end of the alley was blocked by a woman holding a pistol.

The woman at the end of the alley was Reesi. Following Luo An's recent instructions, she entered the alley, saw Sampson with a gun, and immediately hid at the side of the alley entrance, shouting sternly:

"Stop! Drop the gun! Hands up!"

"Damn cops!"

Sampson cursed loudly and immediately turned around to escape back the way he came, only to find that Luo An had quickly moved to block the entrance of the alley.

Luo An gave Sampson a friendly smile, shook the pistol in his hand gently, and said in a very amiable tone:

"Put down your weapon, raise your hands, or I will shoot."

"&#%¥..."

Sampson's face twisted as he spouted a string of curses towards Luo An, Reesi, and the FBI.

Seeing from the corner of his eye the middle-aged woman and man who, out of fear and not wanting to cause trouble, silently squatted behind the trash cans, Sampson without hesitation pulled the middle-aged woman up from the ground and shielded himself with her, pressing his pistol against her temple, shouting loudly:

"Let me go! Otherwise, I will shoot!"

The disheveled middle-aged woman's face was filled with panic, but she suppressed the fear in her heart, clenched her teeth, and did not scream; instead, she looked at Luo An with a pleading face.

At the ground next to the trash cans, the equally disheveled middle-aged man did not attempt to help the woman but silently adjusted his clothes, bowed his head, and began to try to decrease his presence.

"Sampson, this is pointless."

Seeing the hostage being held, Luo An kept calm, held his pistol, and slowly approached Sampson, saying softly:

"Release the hostage, and maybe I can put in a good word for you in front of the judge."

Whether it would be a good or bad word would depend on his actions.

"I'll say it again! Drop the gun! Let me go!"

Watching Reesi blocking the end of the alley behind him and seeing Luo An gradually closing in on him, Sampson's expression grew uglier.

Suddenly, Sampson violently moved the pistol from the temple of the middle-aged woman and pointed it at the middle-aged man by the trash can, who was trying to make himself inconspicuous, and shouted loudly:

"Don't think I won't shoot! He'll die because you won't let me go!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The next second, three gunshots echoed at the end of the alley.

Sampson, with a face full of disbelief and shock, fell to the ground. As he shouted and prepared to shoot, Luo An fired faster, pulling the trigger and shooting two bullets in quick succession.

One bullet hit Sampson's gun-holding right hand, knocking away the pistol he was holding, and another bullet hit Sampson's exposed left leg, preventing him from running away and causing him to fall to the ground.

Meanwhile, Reesi, who had been waiting and aiming for a long time at the end of the alley, also fired when she heard the gunshots, perfectly hitting Sampson's other leg.

The man sitting beside the trash can looked like a wooden statue, frozen in shock when he saw Sampson pointing a gun at him.

The middle-aged woman held hostage by Sampson collapsed to the ground with weak legs, gasping for air. Suddenly, her face contorted fiercely, and as she cursed loudly, she turned and kicked towards Sampson on the ground.

"Stop!"

While calling SWAT to handle Sampson, Luo An quickly stepped forward to stop the middle-aged woman, and simultaneously Reesi approached, retrieving Sampson's dropped firearm and then handcuffed him.

"OK, OK, no problem."

Seeing Luo An stop her, the middle-aged woman immediately ceased her actions. The fierce expression on her face disappeared instantly, replaced by a smile:

"Thank you, Agent Sir, thank you so much. If it weren't for you, today I might have..."

A torrent of praise poured out of the middle-aged woman's mouth like it cost her nothing, showering Luo An. As she spoke, she also fiercely kicked the middle-aged man beside the trash can several times, finally looking at Luo An with a smile and said:

"Since the person has been caught, I'll take my leave, thanks again to you all…"

The middle-aged white man who was kicked beside the trash can finally responded, glaring at the middle-aged woman before quickly standing up and expressing his gratitude to Luo An and Reesi, then he quickly left the alley with the middle-aged woman as if fleeing.

Seeing the genetic material on the lower part of the middle-aged white man's trousers, Reesi displayed a trace of disdain and asked:

"Luo An, these two people…"

Reesi was clear about the identities of this middle-aged couple; they were involved in actions that violated federal laws, giving the FBI the right to arrest them.

"No need to bother, the LAPD outside will handle them."

Casting a glance at the rapidly departing figures of the middle-aged couple, Luo An was currently not in the mood to deal with street prostitutes and their clients, nor did he want to interfere with LAPD's work. The priority was to handle Sampson and this sniper case first.

Soon, SWAT arrived at the alley, and Reesi along with several SWAT officers escorted Sampson to the hospital for treatment. After tending to his injuries, they took him back for interrogation, while Luo An walked back to the entrance of Halfway House, preparing to drive the SUV back to the Special Investigation Team.

At the same moment, across the street from the alley, two patrol officers were stuffing the cursing middle-aged man and woman into their car…

——

Special Investigation Team, office area, 8:30 PM.

Mona bit into the steak Luo An brought back, mumbling as she ate:

"I hate overtime."

Sitting next to Mona, Michelle didn't speak, simply swallowing her food and silently pouring a cup of coffee for Mona.

Across from them, Reesi was devouring the free food, not wanting to say a word.

She had been busy saving money lately, often scrounging for food.

Luo An, Mona, and Michelle didn't mind the little snacks, and neither did the women outside know how they were persuaded, but Reesi's expenses were incredibly low during this time.

Finishing his meal faster than the three women and having eaten three steaks by himself, Luo An drank a cup of tea, sighed deeply, and smiled:

"I also dislike working overtime, so once this case is closed, the Special Investigation Team will take a two-day holiday to rest."

"That's great!"

Reesi was the first to raise her fork and cheer loudly upon hearing this, Mona smiled broadly, and the faint smile on Michelle's face remained unchanged, only silently pouring another cup of tea for Luo An.

As Luo An sipped his tea, he just got news this afternoon from the department head Potante Byrne that the department transfer procedures for Chenier and Winslow were almost done. Although not completely finished, they could start participating in the Special Investigation Team's work.

After Mona, Reesi, and Michelle had their fill and rested for a while, Luo An drank the rest of his tea, stood up, and walked towards the interrogation room, lifting the folder in his hand, asking:

"Let's go, who wants to join me in the interrogation room to deliver a midnight snack to Sampson?"
