Chapter 44 - 44 38 Desperate Rescue_3
44: Chapter 38: Desperate Rescue_3 44: Chapter 38: Desperate Rescue_3 The golden-haired girl’s indifferent eyes turned towards the three “Kantadar Soldiers” who suddenly entered.
“Get out, I’ve said that I need to be alone,” Olivia warned with a voice as cold as ice.
She completely ignored the food and drink in their hands, not foolish enough to accept sustenance from villains, who knew what could be mixed in.
Bending down to place the food and water on the ground, Leon lifted his head and quietly called out her name.
“It’s me, Olivia…”
Saying this, he lifted the mask covering his face around the corner, out of view of the Kantadar people outside.
“Le…”
“Shush,” Leon quickly held up his finger to signal her to be silent.
The girl quickly closed her lips, her incredulous eyes twinkling.
She swallowed the sound in her throat and looked again at Leon, who alongside the two who lifted their faceplates were indeed her friends from out of town.
Leon glanced at the old blacksmith lying on a sack, and with a serious face, he moved closer and whispered rapidly in a low voice into the girl’s ear:
“Listen, Olivia, we don’t have much time so I’ll keep it short.
Not far from the chief’s house in the village, we’ve hidden three horses, enough to take you and your father and run, but the issue is we three can’t defeat the guards outside.
You must tell me honestly, could you get past that tin can?
If yes, what are your chances, and how long might it take?
We could hold off the other two attendants…”
The warm breeze stirred by Leon’s urgent talking made her ears slightly warm.
But she quickly shook her head as if waking from a trance, hurriedly dispelling the inappropriate emotions and focusing, she replied seriously in a soft voice:
“If his martial arts skills are not much different from the knight I previously defeated, then I have six… no, seventy percent confidence I could beat him, but it’s hard to predict how long it would take to decide the victory.
He’s already on guard against my swordsmanship, and the Long Spear makes it hard for me to get close enough to use the Half-sword Technique.
Unless I can get a properly sized Nail Head Hammer, I really can’t end the fight quickly.”
Saying this, the girl looked straight at Leon, her green eyes showing a guilt-ridden expression, “I’m sorry.”
The feeling of inadequacy overwhelmed her, guilty for these three friends who risked their lives to rescue her.
She had already lost too many familiar faces in the village today, and under no circumstances did she want these three righteous friends to die because of her.
Realizing the situation, Olivia quickly made a suggestion to Leon that had a higher chance of success.
“How about I hold off the guards at the door to draw their attention, and you directly take my father and escape?”
After speaking, the girl managed a strained, difficult smile, “Don’t worry about me, that Kantadar noble doesn’t want to kill me, that’s why I’m still alive… as long as you and my father can get away safely…”
“Enough, don’t say anymore, let’s think of another way.”
Leon frowned, helplessly interrupting her plan.
There were some things he simply couldn’t say at this moment, as they were both harsh and could hurt the girl’s feelings.
After all, the three of them weren’t righteous supermen.
Whether it was he, Lokhak, or Azeryan, they all agreed to risk their lives sneaking in here because they wanted to save the kind-hearted girl before them… they recognized Olivia as a friend worth sacrificing for, not her father.
If they couldn’t get her out, the entire purpose of the mission would be reversed.
His mind spinning rapidly, Leon suddenly looked up and asked indirectly but clearly:
“…You just mentioned, that noble is very interested in you, right?”
He seemed to have another idea.
