The next morning, Kitanna was summoned by Almaria to the her inner chamber.

The princess was scared that the Queen would have found out one way or another that she didn’t complete her mission.

When she entered inside the room, the queen sat on the couch beside her was his personal aide and behind was... Kitanna’s eyes flashed excitedly at the blue eyed young man who had saved her the other night.

She had rolled on the bed throughout the night, thinking of when she would see him again. And here he was inside the palace, she smiled at him with a friendly gesture but it was acknowledged with a bored look.

Nix who was standing behind Almaria looked up to see the princess, she gave him a friendly smile, which was the most beautiful smile he had ever seen. But he couldn’t let Almaria know they were close, he kept a straight face.

Almaria followed the princess’s focus and noticed she was staring at her new guard. The woman chuckled,

"About your work yesterday, hope nobody saw your face." Almaria asked raising her teacup to her lips.

Kitanna move her eyes away from Nix, "Nobody saw my face.." she replied, looking at Almaria.

Almaria hummed, "What about the crown princess, did you do as you were instructed?"

Kitanna looked at Nix, and this little exchange didn’t go unnoticed by Almaria.

"I did," the princess answered.

Almaria nodded, "Good." She dropped her teacup and waved for the girl to leave the room.

Then she asked Nix, "Did anything happen last night?"

Nix replied, "The princess was almost caught by the guards of Orion after she had killed the crown princess. But then she fought her way through it and returned safely." He reported.

Almaria clicked her tongue, "One lucky brat," the woman sneered.

"It seems like the princess is smitten by your new guard." The Queen’s aide who had been listening all along without saying anything said.

Almaria smiled to this, "Man-uel, you always notice these things first. Tell me Nix, do you like the princess?."

"She is immature and thinks her little tricks in fighting make her competent. I hate girls like that who take advantage of their title and can’t do stand up for themselves. Forgive me Your Majesty, if I went too far with my words," Nix bowed slightly, looking at the door he noticed the movement of someone. The princess was eavesdropping.

Almaria moved her head back, as her whole body shook in laughter. "I like you, I’m glad I made you my guard. Finally someone thinks like me, you did nothing wrong Nix. Everything you said is correct." The woman clapped.

Nix bowed, "Thank you," he replied.

Almaria who still had a satisfied smile on her face, reclined on the couch. "Since I’m in a good mood, I’ll give you a break. Go ahead and rest for today." She ordered and Nix left the room with a bow.

Man-uel frowned at this, "My Queen, you shouldn’t be lenient to a guard like that. He would take your kindness for weakness." The aide replied, not happy with the new development.

Almaria waved her hand, "Man-uel, you should be able to read people. Nix is not like other regular guards, he would bite even his owner if he doesn’t like the place. I need to make him feel relaxed. Don’t worry, you will understand what I mean in future. I’ll train Nix to very loyal that he would never think of betraying me.." the woman’s voice trailed.

Outside the room, Nix walked towards his favorite spot in the palace when a small stone was thrown at him. He raised his eyes to see the assailant, and he found a brown pair of eyes glaring at him.

"I’m immature?" Kitanna asked, her hands gripped at the side.

Nix moved his eyes down to the girl’s leg, "If you don’t treat that properly it would get worst. We don’t want that, do we princess?" His eyes lazily looked up to cage the girl’s focus.

Kitanna blinked, she liked the way princess sounded when he said it. She totally forgot about her anger, and now stared back at his crystal deep ocean like eyes.

Nix crouched on his heels, using his hair band he tied the girl’s leg properly. When he was done, he cleaned his hand and stood up.

Kitanna stretched her hand to hold the young guard’s hand, then she said what surprised Nix.

"I’m going to train so hard, and become someone you will like." She muttered.

Nix tilted his head to the side, "Why?" He asked. "Why do you want to be someone I’ll like." He asked.

Kitanna bit her lips, holding her gown tightly. She said, "Because I like you..." Then she moved closer and dropped a small kiss on Nix’s lip. Her face was painted with blush when she stepped back.

Nix was surprised at the girl’s action, his eyes followed her as she ran out of the place.

Kitanna touched her lips, while she hummed a joyful song. She walked inside the main palace, feeling elated. She couldn’t believe she had done that. The princess was almost close to her room when she saw the queen talking to someone.

Kitanna walked closer to know what the queen was saying when she heard her name,

".... Kitanna shouldn’t know about that, we succeeded in killing her father. We should make her disappear before she remembers anything." Almaria said.

Kitanna gasped when she heard this, but before she could turn and run someone hit her head with something strong making her pass out.

When Kitanna woke up, she was bound hand and feet with her head turned upside down.

"What are you doing? Let me go." Kitanna cried, scared of looking down because it was a well filled with water.

Almaria gritted her teeth angrily, "What are we going to do if she blabs her mouth about what she heard. Let’s just kill her now." The woman ordered.

"If we kill her now people would talk, I’ll mix up a herb for her. It’ll make her lose her memory, just like we’ve been doing." Misam suggested.

Almaria glared at the girl, "I hate how she looks at me, double the mixture and give to her."

Misam smiled, "Don’t worry, I have other things we can do to her if she makes you so angry."

Misam walked forward, letting go of the rope, which caused Kitanna’s head to dip inside the water. The girl struggled, moving her leg for help but it was tied strongly together.

When Misam raised the rope, the girl was breathing fast.

"Mo-ther.." Kitanna said trying to catch her breathe, water dripping from her hair and face.

Almaria sneered, "I am not your mother, Dip her again." She ordered.

They continued with this until the girl passed out then Misam fed her with the herbs that washed off her memory.

Later when Kitanna opened her eyes, she found herself lying sick on the bed with Clephas looking after her.

"Why did you go to the fountain alone, everyone in the palace was worried about you." The eunuch said, tending to the princess.

Kitanna touched her head which was aching badly, when the door opened and Almaria stepped in with her personal guard. Kitanna stared at the guard, there was something familiar about him.

"Oh my daughter, how are you?" Almaria tried her luck by hugging the girl but she didn’t repulse. The mixture worked, she smiled.

Kitanna wasn’t paying attention to Almaria, her eyes was on the guard.

’She is immature, I hate girls like her’ the voice echoed in Kitanna’s head and she gripped her hand tightly, glaring at the guard.

Nix was surprised to hear that the princess almost drowned, but was shocked to see the look of hate on the girl’s face directed towards him. He wondered what had happened.
