Chapter 174: GENERATION SKIP

Chapter 174: GENERATION SKIP

[MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: THIS IS WHAT YOU CAME FOR ~ CALVIN HARRIS, RIHANNA]

Earlier at Odel...

Lucía gulped when she felt the tip of Nix’s cold sword touch her neck. She could see clearly from his blue eyes that he was not playing.

"Y-your Majesty...what do you mean?" Lucía tried to maintain decorum; maybe the king was trying to test her, but her heart raced with every passing second.

Nix pushed his sword closer, "I guess you won’t be answering that easily." He turned to one of the guards behind him.

"Lock this woman up; we are going back to the palace." He ordered, sheathing his sword, as he walked away from there, leaving the woman in a confused state.

Lucía wiped the sweat from her forehead; lock up? She repeated. Why? She had done everything right; why was she being locked up? The woman tried to organize her thoughts but she was hauled inside a wooden carriage with her hands bonded behind her.

"Why? What did I do?" Lucía shouted through the opening, but nobody answered her.

When they arrived in Morado, it was already morning. Nix ordered for his grandfather to be summoned at the prison while he went to get Kitanna himself.

Now in the present time, Kitanna locked her arms with Nix as they walked towards the prison where Lucía was held. Arriving at the prison with Hieron there, everyone looked at Nix for an explanation, including Lucía, because she had no idea what was going on.

"That’s the woman who brought my father’s amulet," Nix pointed casually at the woman who looked like a clown standing in a fair.

Hieron moved closer, trying to see if he would recognize the woman, but nothing came to his mind. "Where did she find it?" The elderly man asked.

Kitanna didn’t say anything; she just continued to gauge the woman who was the only possible lead to finding Nix’s father. She wondered why Nix was giving her such treatment.

"Tell them who gave you the amulet." Nix said, waving for Lucía to iterate the story she told him earlier.

Lucía stood tall, ready to repeat what she had told Nix before. "Your father, I met him during one of my travels. He was begging on the street, he had lost his memory but he didn’t stop talking about his son. So...." Her voice trailed.

Nix nodded his head, "And you knew he was my father because?"

"He had silver hair and blue eyes, just like you." Lucía remarked.

Hieron raised his brows, "My son? Had silver hair and blue eyes like us?" The old man chuckled.

Kitanna gave Nix and his grandfather a quizzical look, what was so amusing? She wanted to ask, but something told her to relax and wait.

"And this man begging on the street with silver hair and blue eyes gave you the amulet?" Hieron took over the questioning now enjoying everything.

Lucía nodded her head; she was now wary of the two men who kept looking at her like she was a clown.

"If you don’t believe me, I can take you there," the woman tried to sound confident; maybe this was a test to check her confidence level. She thought.

Hieron shook his head, "No need, you’ve seen what you’ve seen. It’s better you let us know while we are being nice who sent you? Also why disrespect my deceased son in such manner even saying he was begging on the street." The elder white Lord’s voice was now hard and serious.

Kitanna, who couldn’t keep away her curiousity at bay, nudged Nix. "What is the problem? How do you know somebody sent her?" She asked, her voice a little low but Lord Hieron heard her clearly.

"This lady never met my son." Hieron was the one to answer, facing Kitanna.

"I did, I did. I swear I did," Lucía shouted, trying to defend herself.

Kitanna looked at Hieron then at the woman in the prison. But she couldn’t understand what was going on; Nix, who noticed the confused look on his wife, held her face with his two hands.

"My father doesn’t have blue eyes like us. He was born that way, as if there was a skip in the gene. But nobody knew about it, except my grandfather and I." Nix’s voice sounded distant, as he remembered his father’s black eyes, which he only saw when they were away from people.

Kitanna’s look of surprise was epic; she always thought the men from Nix’s family must have silver hair and blue eyes. This was news to her.

Hieron nodded, agreeing to what his grandson was saying. "It was as if my wife’s gene was stronger. When Nix’s father came out with black eyes, I thought it was going to be like that until Nix came along and had the blue eyes. We realized there was a skip. Before then, I filled my son’s eyes with a blue liquid which only I knew of and washes off at night,"

Kitanna, who now understood the situation nodded her head, if Nix’s father was truly alive and lost his memory his eyes would be black. She looked at the woman who claimed to have seen Nix’s father, and she threw her head back in laughter.

Lucía felt her knee tremble, the weather was cold but she felt drops of sweat dripping from her forehead. It dawned on her that she was doomed; she took a step back shaking her head. "I saw black, his eyes was black." Lucía muttered; this was it for her.

"Well, I believe we’ve already ended this phase of conversation. The next is going to be telling my beautiful wife who sent you." Nix moved to the side allowing Kitanna to step forward.

"I’ve been so bored in the palace my dear husband. I’m so going to enjoy this treat you brought back home." Kitanna grinned, cracking her knuckles. How she has missed torturing foolish people, she removed her hairpin, packing her hair up in a ponytail.

Lucía got down on her knees, "Please, please. You are a woman like me; don’t do this. I was mistaken, I guess it was not him. If you allow me leave I won’t ever show up in front of you and your family again as long as I live." The woman panicked, fear running down her spine.

Kitanna hummed as if accepting the woman’s idea, "Let’s start with how you got the amulet, hm?" She walked closer to the cell, as her prey scurried away trying to hide away from her.

"Don’t be shy; if you are cooperative, we’ll be done in no time. I’m a bit rusty, so it won’t take long." The queen said with mirth dancing in her eyes and a devious grin plastered on her lips.

Nix smiled watching how terrified the woman was. When he realized that the woman was lying to him, he had been so furious that he wanted to kill her off immediately, but he still needed to know who put her up to it. And it would be better for Kitanna to handle the situation owing to the fact that the woman even tried to seduce him. But he wasn’t going to tell Kitanna; because Kitanna would kill the woman even before the interrogation began.

Hieron was the first to leave the prison, before Nix followed. He stopped in front of a particular cell, the prisoner appeared to be lost from this world. He shook his head and was about to leave when the person spoke.

"Please help me, help me. I’ll do anything you want. Get me out of here." Misam’s voice was now dull, her eyes looking weak.

Nix looked at the woman for a moment, then he walked out of the prison as Lucía’s agonizing scream was heard.
