Chapter 808: Chapter 362 Blockade_2
Several minutes later, a convoy composed of two trucks entered the main road. A heavy machine gun was mounted on the top of each driver’s cabin. As the first vehicle approached the ambush zone, it slowed down, and the machine gun opened fire, wildly strafing the ground, setting off one landmine after another.
Soaring through the high skies, Little Fight had already locked onto the trucks. At Maya’s command, two rockets hurtled towards the vehicles. After the explosion, both trucks were wrecked, the two drivers were killed on the spot, and six armed individuals leaped from the vehicles, each grabbed a weapon, took cover behind the debris of the trucks, and began searching for the location of their ambushers.
Atop the base’s rooftop, Lin Wu blended into the snowy landscape with his white winter coat, reporting the current situation through binoculars. The trucks had stopped in the open area before the bridgehead, and the Alliance had no intention of leaving their vehicles. The six men were very cautious, using simple periscopes to survey the outside world without exposing themselves rashly.
Maya said, "They’re wasting time. This is an assault mission, and if time runs out, we’ll only score the basic points. Shana, initiate a feint."
Shana peeked out and opened fire on the trucks. After revealing the attackers’ positions, the six NPC immediately began suppressing the rocky area, advancing in two rows towards it, their firepower fierce, pinning down Shana and her two teammates from emerging.
Lin Wu shot down one enemy, who immediately retreated, and two others fired towards Lin Wu’s position, forcing him away from his shooting spot. This was the moment for Maya and Little Knife to act, cutting off the NPCs’ retreat to the trucks, forcing them to engage in a firefight prone on the snowy ground.
Of course, the NPCs were at a major disadvantage, but the combat prowess of these armed individuals was quite high; they consistently suppressed both the rocky area and the rooftop, preventing these two fire points from aiming and outputting effectively. Although Lin Wu frequently changed positions, there was only so much space. The players’ disadvantage lay in the rather long combat distance, which lowered shooting accuracy. Furthermore, a shortage of bullets was also a cause for concern, as each combatant didn’t have a full magazine.
Lin Wu retreated from the frontline position, recalled Little Fight, and after attaching an Incendiary Grenade, he once again deployed Little Fight. The launch wasn’t easy, with the rooftop covered in snow; it took all his effort to generate enough speed for the launch.
As Little Fight took to the skies, Lin Wu lay in the snow, shifting his viewpoint, locking onto the target. Little Fight turned back in the air, diving down swiftly, and released the Incendiary Grenade 30 meters above the NPCs, the grenade plummeted inertia-carrying into the group and burst into flames.
They were dressed in winter coats identical to Lin Wu’s. As Zhuge Liang once stated, those who are adept with water must necessarily struggle against fire, leading to their coats being instantly ignited.
What followed was without suspense, the NPC’s defensive formation collapsed in their rush to extinguish the flames, leaving them no chance for defense. Seizing the opportunity, Maya led Little Knife and Shana Team out from cover, easily and happily eliminating all the NPCs.
The extra reward for this mission was in the trucks’ cargo beds. Within five minutes after the battle had begun, you could take as much of the cargo as possible as your spoils of war. The whole mission also only lasted five minutes; after five minutes, the unmanned drones at the airport would launch, bombing the trucks to smithereens.
Lin Meng glanced at the time display: "30 seconds left."
Maya pulled a green crate from the truck’s bed: "Keep moving."
"Okay." Lin Meng got hit by the crate and tumbled in the snow as he caught it.
Shana, Little Knife, and Snow Egg were busying themselves with the second truck.
A red circle suddenly appeared around the truck, indicating the range soon to be bombarded by the drones. From the rooftop, Lin Wu witnessed a spectacular scene as dozens of drones ascended from the airport, majestically flying towards the bombing zone.
Lin Wu: "Time to go, time to go."
Maya: "Everyone grab a crate, move!"
Su Shi and Stone struggled through the snow to reach the trucks and help carry things, while Lin Wu also sent out Wai, though it was doubtful he’d be of much help. As for himself, he was a bit too far away, time wouldn’t allow it, and he also had to carry out a scouting task.
As the drones approached, Lin Wu urged: "Move quickly."
Maya and Su Shi carried a green crate and were the last to leave the bombing zone. Around 5 seconds after they left the red circle, rain-like bombs descended from the sky. The mission left two wrecked trucks at the edge of the bridge, which didn’t impede traffic; players could also choose to dismantle them if they so desired.
Each crate seemed quite heavy, and everyone put their backs into dragging the crates back. The reason for using ’seemed’ was that Little Knife was an exception, carrying a green, elongated crate as if it were an empty bag.
Since they had wiped out the Alliance NPCs, the mission was graded S, and the mission leader Lin Meng earned a hefty sum of Points. Now it was time to see the rewards that came with the mission.
When the five crates were placed in the small square, Su Shi pryed open Maya’s crate with a crowbar, revealing two large parts and some small components. Consulting the manual, they realized it was a signal transmitter set that could be dismantled for a large number of electronic components but had no other use.
Maya didn’t need comforting, so no one wasted their breath.
Shana’s crate contained ten barrels of fuel, greeted with cheers; Shana responded with a smile.
The crate Snow Egg brought back contained a field wireless communication system, as worthless as Maya’s find.
Little Knife couldn’t wait to open the lightest crate she had brought back, which contained a beautifully packaged RBD carbine. The gun was extremely stylish, with a strong sci-fi aesthetic, only 76 centimeters in length, and weighed just one kilogram, likely the most beautiful carbine they had seen so far.
