Chapter 795: Chapter 357 Winter Chill_3
To everyone’s surprise, by the end of the event, there were still 1,400 players alive.
Dawn was very candid in stating that the difficulty would increase in the future, while also providing a significant benefit: from now on, the death of Hardcore Mode players would no longer result in a deduction of points.
After giving out the carrot, Dawn wielded the stick: starting from 8 o’clock, unless possessing special items, players would be removed from Hardcore Mode upon death. Although Fortress agents would not be removed from Hardcore Mode after dying, their revival time would increase from 24 hours to 48 hours.
Secondly, for the last three quarters, the homeland will be restocked with standard zombies, thus eliminating the zombie refresh mechanism. For example, Left County originally had a population of 600,000, which means there would be 200,000 zombies in Left County. Except within the range covered by Blood Heart, zombies will no longer respawn, and the system will also stop increasing the number of Blood Hearts. Blood Plague zombies will only be active within the Blood Mist range and will not leave the Blood Mist.
This is equivalent to giving players a more realistic world where the behavior of zombies will become unpredictable and illogical, attacking any living creature except their own kind.
Furthermore, except for certain special individuals, any scratch from a zombie will result in certain infection, and the method for creating Serum will also change. It will require 200 milliliters of blood drawn from a Blood Heart as the basic material needed to make one bottle of Serum. All existing Serum in the game will expire after three months, and the new Serum will have no expiration date.
Thirdly, considering the number of players, a base reset event will take place after the winter. Given that there are no surviving bases in mid-size cities, the system will provide a county town and two villages as new scenes, named New Homeland. Players may apply to relocate their bases to this New Homeland in their entirety.
It is recommended that players struggling to survive consider relocating.
Fourthly, the method of crafting recipes in the kitchen will be eliminated; kitchens will only provide a complete set of kitchenware, which must not be used for any other purposes.
Fifthly, the yield of facilities such as farms will be decreased. Planting a pumpkin will yield only one pumpkin, no longer enjoying system bonuses. For example, if a large plot is used to plant rice without any plugins, it would on average yield 10 kilograms of rice per day. After the update, while the maturation time remains unchanged, yields will be calculated based on the actual planting density. Normally, one could expect to harvest 5 kilograms of rice per day. Lower density means lower yield; higher density does not necessarily mean higher yield. Whoever can optimize the value is the skilled farmer.
In addition, self-cultivated farming and animal husbandry will be affected by real-world weather conditions, pests, diseases, etc. Self-bred non-pet and non-mount animals will produce manure; insufficient food will lead to starvation; all calculations will be performed using realistic methods.
This means that if the base does not have a real farmer, it is best to stick to building system farms. If the base has a farmer, then what you can grow and breed is a matter of skill.
The good news is that the gestation time for animals and the hatching time for chicks have been greatly reduced; chicks can grow to normal size in 10 days, provided they are given enough food.
Lastly, the system would like to issue a special reminder for everyone to listen up. Because of the movement of the sun, Earth will enter an Ice Age in the winter; the highest temperature throughout the winter will not exceed minus 15 degrees Celsius, and there will be continuous cold waves throughout the winter, with temperatures dropping to as low as minus 71.2 degrees Celsius.
The broadcast went on to explain that minus 71.2 degrees Celsius is the lowest temperature in permanently inhabited cities on Earth. In other words, if humans can survive in such low temperatures, players should also be able to endure with the convenience provided by the system.
Good news: At 8 o’clock, everyone will be teleported back to their bases, and the temperature will be maintained at around 20 degrees Celsius until sunset. This will give players ample time to prepare firewood and also enable them to consider warming supplies for the winter when exchanging points.
Bad news: in the three months of winter, the second month will have 24-hour daylight, and the third month will have 24-hour darkness.
Any players unable to endure can opt out of Hardcore Mode through death during the upcoming in-game time, without losing points.
After announcing the above matters, the broadcast declared: You may now begin exchanging points. The rules for point exchange this time are quite special; people from the same base can communicate and discuss, but the transaction period is only 20 minutes. After 8 o’clock, the points will reset to zero, and all personnel will leave the instance.
