Chapter 770 - 349: One Day

Chapter 770: Chapter 349: One Day

The next alarm was a delayed camera that activated every ten seconds. It would sound an alarm if it detected any moving objects. This camera caused Lin Ma much trouble. While they were clearing out the zombies at point A and waiting for the zombies from points B and C, Lin Wu saw a camera dropping from the ceiling and quickly dodged aside.

The camera’s white light didn’t catch Lin Wu, but it shone on the zombies rushing to support, and a piercing alarm sounded instantaneously. Fortunately, they weren’t far from the entrance and managed to escape outside the fire door before they got surrounded. The others were trapped in the office, not daring to make a sound.

The third difficulty became apparent: the zombies chasing Lin Ma didn’t return to their original positions after losing their target but stayed there in a dormant state. Reluctantly, the two had to clear their way through. Although they resorted to melee weapons, they still wasted a lot of bullets and picked up a lot of junk.

Nobody liked this floor; everyone hoped to find the BOSS quickly. It was their lucky day as the two squads met up within ten minutes, they encountered the boss of this level, a mutated giant spider.

There was a 15-meter-long corridor with a security door in the middle, another 15-meter corridor behind it, and then a T-shaped intersection. The giant spider had woven a web at the T-intersection, which it could use for rapid movement. Its vision was incredible, and as soon as it spotted Maya, it quickly released small spiders. The small spiders exuded green gas as they passed through the security door, rushing towards the T-intersection where Maya was. If they saw a player, they would chase; if not, they would expand in place and explode, releasing a small cloud of poisonous gas that dissipated after 10 seconds.

After several attempts, they basically understood the boss’s mechanism. The troublesome part was that at the T-intersection where the players were, one side was a dead end, and the other had a camera that activated every ten seconds.

Shana held an ID card: "This should open this one-way security door."

"Lin Wu."

Lin Wu took the ID card and stealthily entered the corridor. The giant spider, which had been crawling back and forth, suddenly stopped and stared quietly at the corridor, obviously sensing something unusual, but it couldn’t pinpoint the disturbance and didn’t produce any small spiders. Lin Wu also didn’t dare to move, squatting and confronting it.

After Lin Wu explained the situation, Maya said, "You only moved two meters and the giant spider became alert, you won’t make it 15 meters, come back first."

When Lin Wu returned, Maya said, "There’s only one way, to shoot and kill the giant spider when the small spiders open the door."

Lin Wu asked, "Forest Wolf? That thing is super loud."

Maya replied, "After all, it’s just gunshots, not an alarm. We can take our time to clear out the surrounding zombies first."

This seemed to be the only way, and without further ado, Shadow Squad took 10 minutes to clear the area of zombies.

...

Maya took the Forest Wolf, chambered a round, and looked back at the others standing at the edge of the ten-second camera: "I’m ready."

"Start."

Maya walked to the mouth of the corridor, lay down, and aimed her gun. As soon as the giant spider saw Maya, it immediately launched small spiders, which it dropped at a rate of one per second. The small spiders leaped across walls and then jumped to the ceiling, making their way forward in hops and jumps. As the first spider neared the security door, the door automatically opened, and Maya pulled the trigger, blowing the giant spider’s head off, and its health dropped to 30% instantly.

The severely wounded giant spider moved frantically back and forth at the T-intersection, passing through the middle corridor briefly, just a flash each time. Maya missed the opportunity twice, and as the small spiders closed in, she was forced to retreat.

The small spider reached the intersection and saw the player to the right, immediately jumping toward them. Shadow had strong firepower and didn’t give the small spiders a chance to get close, shooting them down one by one. Lin Wu held a G36 throughout and didn’t fire a shot because no small spider could jump within three meters.

After the poisonous gas from the small spiders disappeared, Maya returned to her position. The giant spider had calmed down again and continued to deploy small spiders. At the instant a small spider opened the door, Maya fired a shot, bursting the giant spider’s head. The giant spider fell from the ceiling and turned into three cards.

"Done." Maya switched to a handgun, and the others also approached the corridor, attacking the security door together.

Maya and Lin Wu walked along the wall, and the other three followed, fighting the remaining small spiders near the security door. Unexpectedly, a problem arose. The small spiders weren’t very fast; the ones in front had been blown up, but there were still seven small spiders inside the security door still jumping. Meanwhile, the speed of rotation of the three cards left by the giant spider’s death visibly accelerated.

Poisonous fog enveloped the security door, with spiders emerging one after another, a situation that was going to continue for some time, and nobody knew how long the cards could last.

Shana exchanged glances with Snow Egg, who nodded, and they both ran into the poisonous fog. Shana opened the security door, and Snow Egg ran toward the cards. By then, they had turned green, green gas wafting from their heads, and a three-minute countdown appeared above them. It didn’t mean they’d be detoxified in three minutes, but that they would die in three minutes. Worse still was Snow Egg, whose countdown decreased rapidly due to his fast run. By the time he grabbed the loot and returned to the security door, only one minute remained.

Maya said, "Medicine chest."

Shana and Snow Egg consumed a medical box each, gaining an extra minute of life.

Maya said, "Little Knife, carry Snow Egg. I’ll carry Shana. Lin Wu, lead the way to the Hidden Portal." She handed the Forest Wolf to Lin Wu to lighten her load.

Shana said, "The last medical box is for Snow Egg."
