Chapter 715: Chapter 336 Preparation_2

The third floor of the Doomsday Fortress had visibility on the zombies, while the first floor was all narrow passageways. Su Shi’s activity area was limited to the second floor, and he couldn’t even go up to the third floor to have tea and chat with Farmer Stone. He was someone capable of criticism and self-criticism, and he had realized early on that his dissatisfaction was with the status quo, not with the people and events surrounding Shadow.

Stone said, "You go ahead, I’ll pass."

Lin Wu said, "Old Man, I’ve already boasted big time. If you don’t go, I might as well change my name to Wood Rain."

"Wood Fish? That’s not a bad name." Stone sighed, "Forget it, just go."

Lin Wu pulled out the Little Fight from his back: "This here is the legendary all-in-one drone for checking and hitting, capable of carrying two guided rockets with a 5 kilogram warhead each."

Stone scoffed, "Pfft, what now? You planning to blow up my base?"

Lin Wu said, "Blow up your base? No, I’m going to blow up your armored car. I’m due for a name change, and I won’t let you have it easy either."

"You dare?"

Lin Wu pressed a button and the drone in his hand instantly enlarged. Seeing Lin Wu stand up ready to launch the drone, Stone quickly grabbed him, "Let’s talk this over, sit down, sit down." Stone wasn’t sure if Lin Wu would actually blow something up. With others, Stone would question their basis for making threats. But not with Lin Wu – the armored car had been retrieved by Lin Wu’s group and it was Lin Wu himself who had decided to assign it for his own use. For Lin Wu, destroying the armored car carried no psychological burden.

Blow it up and then fall out with him? He couldn’t, the animosity wouldn’t rise, leaving only anger. Besides, once it was blown up, what else could be done?

Stone sat down, staring at the big toy in Lin Wu’s hand and the two rockets hanging underneath, his expression fluctuating, finally saying, "I have one condition."

Lin Wu said, "Not to be the leader."

"How did you know?"

"Dead set on saving face, you need a way out. Ah well, the reason I’m rejoining isn’t anything else, it’s because I don’t need to be the leader. I just want to be an ordinary farmer, enjoying the simple pleasures of the countryside."

Stone instantly flipped the table and a brawl ensued.

If you’re beautiful and someone calls you ugly, you wouldn’t fight them because you know they’re lying.

If you’re ugly and someone calls you ugly, you might end up fighting them because you know they’re mocking you.

Either lies don’t hurt people or it’s the truth that injures.

Top salespeople and CEOs returning to action, what can’t they do? Especially the top salespeople, they strut around; the more they strut, the more skilled they appear to be. But a boss needs their dignity, right? After adamantly deciding to retire, suddenly raising the big flag later seems a bit unjustifiable. A fight is good for maintaining face and preserving the boss’s position.

Su Shi intervened, and the two men used the opportunity to cease their fight. Lin Wu asked, "Got any rice porridge or bread? I’m sick of eating meat every day."

What Versailles Syndrome? A major problem for Shadow was the reduced supply of meat.

"Hang on." Stone went back to the Hunter’s Cottage and clattered around for a while, finally serving up a thin rice porridge seasoned with salt and ginger, accompanied by scrambled eggs.

"Where did these eggs come from?"

Stone said, "Shana has been raising a few chickens in the parking area."

Lin Wu then remembered, during the typhoon, he and Shana had gone to the church on the mountaintop and bought some eggs from the players there.

Stone asked, "How are the food reserves? And the weapon stores?" It’d be a shame if they starved before they even got to the base.

Lin Wu said, "None of that is my concern."

See, there goes the anger again, sigh, telling the truth just tends to tick people off. But truly, Lin Wu didn’t handle these things because he wouldn’t be able to figure them out better than Maya, so it was better to leave it to her.

Su Shi asked in passing, "Wasn’t it tough making the trip back?"

"Yeah, 3,700 kilometers."

"3,700? You’re bluffing," Stone dismissed the idea.

Lin Wu snapped, "Bluff your head. Crossing deserts, trudging through tundras, over volcanoes, and even scrabbling through the rainforest for half a month."

Stone sighed lightly and patted Lin Wu’s arm, "Thanks."

"Thank your head, I didn’t come back for you, nutcase."

Stone grew annoyed, "Are you picking a fight?"

"You’re the one picking a fight. A man being moved by me just gives me goosebumps all over."

"Alright, alright, I get it," Stone said and then asked, "Where are Little Knife and the others?"

Lin Wu paused, "We didn’t discuss this part before. Logically, it concerns me, but Little Knife has a boyfriend now, so it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to intrude on her life just because of our friendship. How do you all see it?"

Stone asked, "You didn’t discuss it?"

"Nope?"

Stone pressed further, "Does Maya know that Little Knife and Snow Egg went to the Angel’s Alliance, and Starlight, Peanut, and Emerald Feather went to the logging camp?"

"She knows."

Stone nodded, "Maya thinks we should settle down first and consider these issues later. Right, without a base, how could we contact them?"

"Who says we don’t have a base," Lin Wu said. "Later, you’ll dissolve your crappy base, and I’ll add you guys to mine. You and Su Shi just follow Highway 99, and Maya and the others will be waiting for you on the roadside. As pretty as my horse is, it’s just not as practical on the road as a car."

"Your base? Where is it?" Stone asked curiously.

"If I tell you, I’ll have to explain the whole backstory and all the functions, which would be too much. Better to ask Maya later." At this point, Lin Wu said sadly, "Do you know? Maya killed the only washing machine in the world."

Stone questioned, "Didn’t you say earlier that Leimeng Town was a normal town?"

"Yeah," Lin Wu affirmed.

Stone asked, "Don’t they have a laundromat on the commercial street?"

After pondering over his porridge, Lin Wu said, "This egg is really well-cooked, a true testament to the Hunter’s kitchen."

...

Stone added all the fuel to the armored car, an amount clearly insufficient for the 60 liters per 100 kilometers fuel consumption to reach Leimeng Town. Stone and Su Shi set off first and would meet up with Maya on the roadside later, at which point Maya would calculate the total fuel supply of both groups.
