Maya seemed to have taken on a different personality, not only repeatedly agreeing but also escorting Angel to the side of the path, making a pact not to leave each other.

Lin Wu watched on with curiosity but kept up with the pleasantries, watching as Angel disappeared down the path. Maya said, "She’s planning to ambush us."

"I could tell she was acting, but really, an ambush?"

Maya nodded with certainty, "She’s always been vague about the number of people at her base, and completely indifferent to why we’re here. I think rather than entering our safe zone to battle, she’s likely to ambush us on the road. Even if we’re on guard, given our unfamiliarity with the environment, she could still forcibly take us down."

Maya added, "What confirmed her ill intentions was her weapon. We helped Angel Base kill the Spider Train. If Angel had completed Sasha’s task, she definitely wouldn’t be carrying a Sawed-off Shotgun, at the very least it would be an assault rifle. So, I’m sure she failed Sasha’s task. She keeps thanking us for our help with the activity but doesn’t mention anything else related to it."

Lin Wu said, "They’re just frogs in a well, easy to take care of."

"That’s an overstatement," Maya replied. "Most people don’t know how big this world is. Including us, we’ve only been through two or three major cities."

With a light sigh, Maya added, "I really don’t want to kill players."

Lin Wu was unsatisfied, "What are you thinking about? The one to act will be me."

Lin Ma rested quietly for a night in the living area of the base.

The next day the weather was good, but since the temporary base had no kitchen, they could only cook some smoked meat soup, which wasn’t exactly unpleasant but was extremely bizarre.

Maya rode Sandstorm into the lead, after about 5 minutes, she saw a tree lying across the path, fallen from the left slope; people could crawl under, but horses couldn’t jump over. Maya halted, "Here it comes."

In this battle, they killed a total of seven players, including Angel. A glance at the weapons on their bodies showed it was a mismatched fight. They had only one Enfield rifle with a magazine of five rounds, no automatic mode. Aside from a shotgun and a bolt-action rifle, the rest were all armed with pistols.

Looking at Angel, gravely injured and filled with resentment, Lin Wu wasted no words and simply shot her dead. On the way back, Maya had already chopped the roadblock tree, and they rode on, proceeding along the path at a pace slightly faster than a walk. Soon, they reached the main base of Angel Base.

To the right of the path, towards the city, was an area of about a hundred acres. The main buildings included a three-story structure at the center, among other smaller buildings with bomb shelters and such. There was also a large crane, railroads, and such.

Maya stopped at the railroad to examine an information board, "They are researching how to provide a more efficient and stable operation for the rail vehicles."

Standing in front of the large crane, Maya looked up at the iron ball hanging above and continued, "This area is for researching materials and structures."

"This is the harmful waste comparison burial area," Maya said. "One section is a natural degradation zone, while four sections are artificial degradation zones."

Lin Wu, uninterested in these things, headed towards the three-story building, "I’m going to take a look around, see if there are any survivors."

"Wait for me."

Angel Base had dissolved. If Angel Base operated on a hierarchical system, then with Angel’s death, the base would dissolve; thus, it couldn’t be ruled out that there might still be some remnants within the original base.

Either everyone got along peacefully, or they stayed out of each other’s way. Once a fight broke out, it was a matter of life or death, and the victor inevitably had to eradicate all potential troubles completely.

After Little Fight’s reconnaissance, there was no human presence in the vicinity, confirming the extinction of the members of Angel Base. Maya was somewhat disappointed, while Lin Wu questioned, "Is it because there’s no chance for torture?"

Maya strode past a bench, walking inside the original Angel Base as she observed and reflected, "I wanted to understand their way of life. Angel Boss had a predatory mindset. Whatever she wanted, she would find a way to obtain. How did such a group come together? Was there hierarchical or class distinctions among them? How were daily tasks distributed? The fact that the base survived until now indicates their model was correct."

Lin Wu stated, "I always thought Shadow had the correct model."

"Shadow’s model is right under one condition: ample resources. When everyone has enough food and clothing, only limited difficulties and challenges need confrontation. It is said that most family issues are economic ones, and poverty brings sorrow to a marriage. Clearly, Angel Base is different from Shadow. Their base conditions were poor, promoting harmony and fair treatment is meaningless for survival at that point. They needed a strong leader to set the rules for distribution."
