Chapter 626: Chapter 301 Factory_3
"Hmm." Under Shuihua’s operation, the train left the main track and stopped on a sidetrack outside the factory gate, about 20 meters from the factory entrance.
Hong Yi said, "Something’s not right, it’s completely silent." The gate was half-open on both sides, revealing no lights inside, with only the rail tracks extending into the darkness.
"Lin Wu."
Lin Wu responded and disembarked from the locomotive, quickly pressing himself against the door, squatting down to enter Stealth mode, and crept towards the interior of the factory. Soon, Lin Wu’s voice came through the walkie-talkie: "Don’t see anyone, the scene is a mess. There’s a carriage at the end of the tracks."
Maya asked, "Do you see any zombies?"
"No," said Lin Wu. "But Wai seems to smell something, the target is deeper inside."
"How’s the lighting?"
Lin Wu: "It’s okay." There was a skylight on the high walls every ten meters on both sides of the factory.
Lin Wu, noticing a signboard with writing hanging from a wall, reported: "The factory has a basement, the backup power source is in the basement."
After contemplating for a moment, Maya called Qinglang over and pointed to the crane: "Did NPC Awen give you a detailed rundown on how to use the crane?"
Qinglang nodded: "Including how to dismantle a carriage and how to modify one."
Maya pulled out a piece of paper: "This is the finished product I want to modify."
Qinglang examined it carefully for a while, took the paper and asked, "Shall I go up now?"
"Lin Wu, hold your position," Maya put down the walkie-talkie and said to Qinglang: "I’ll take you over. Hong Yi, close the doors and be on the lookout, don’t go outside unless necessary."
"Understood!"
Leading the way, Maya moved with Qinglang in a crouch, skirting around the factory to reach the crane, with no anomalies detected along the way. Qinglang climbed the straight ladder to the crane’s control room, while Maya took out her walkie-talkie: "Everyone, be aware that we may be facing silent-type zombies."
Lin Wu: "Never heard of them." Can you not steal fictional storylines?
Maya explained: "They’re either far away or holed up in a place with good sound insulation. We’re surrounded by the factory, which could potentially hide a great number of zombies."
Lin Wu said: "You mean, once we start using the crane to dismantle, zombies will continuously come from all directions as soon as they hear the noise."
Maya: "Yes, I’m really worried about that. The train is armored and can withstand non-mechanical damage, so that should be fine. But the big problem is how people are going to get back to the train once they’re out. I’m considering abandoning the operation."
Qinglang, having climbed to the control room of the crane, looked at the control panel and replied via the walkie-talkie: "Don’t worry about me, I can control the crane’s arm. After the job is done, I can slide down the crane’s arm to the top of the train. Lin Wu, how’s your situation?" He could abandon the task if Lin Wu was in danger.
"I run fast."
In that case, Maya retreated back to the train and said: "Lin Wu, decide whether to turn on the power based on the conditions and environment."
Standard video game routine, when inside they tell you where the backup generator is, outside there’s a crane with a dead battery arranged.
Lin Wu approached the carriage at the end of the tracks and stood on tiptoes to look inside, only to see a large number of zombies lying inside. They seemed to be hibernating, oblivious to minor noises.
The designers at Dawn still had a conscience, having deliberately set a path to the generator to inform players: the factory was hiding a multitude of zombies.
