"Shuihua, stop the train, let them on board," Maya instructed. They couldn’t keep fighting like this, the carriage was too severely damaged.

As the train came to a stop, the cowboys immediately rode up on their horses and stormed the train through various entrances. The first cowboy crawled in through a shattered window. Hong Yi, uncomfortable with her long rifle in the confined space, used her repeater gun as a blunt weapon and smashed it down on his head.

Lin Wu’s female cowboy adversary was quite sneaky. Instead of boarding immediately, she rode her horse around the carriage, constantly firing inside. Lin Wu, eyeing an opportunity, dashed out from the rear of the train. Wai ran and came to a standstill atop the cargo carriage. Lin Wu jumped onto the cargo carriage, asking Wai to move aside. He pulled the bolt and sprayed bullets inside the carriage, instantly killing the cowboys below. Then came the second, and the third. As the holes in the carriage multiplied, the cowboys fell one by one.

The battle was swift and ended just as quickly.

Limited Time Repair Cards, valid for ten minutes, can repair all carriages and restore them to pristine condition. Maya grumbled, "This isn’t a reward; it’s compensation."

Hong Yi was still Corpse Looting, "It hardly counts as compensation. Many things have been damaged."

As the item storage was attacked, items inside were randomly damaged. 20% of the food was spoiled. In addition, four passengers died in the crossfire, and several blankets and quilts were ruined.

Maya signaled Shuihua to drive up to the blockade, then everyone worked together to remove the stones. There was still ample time, so Maya had the group move the bodies of the four deceased passengers off the train. Without any tools to dig, they could only cover them with vegetation.

This time, Lin Wu was particularly diligent. Perhaps Dawn saw through his unsavory motives, neither Lin Wu nor the rest received the Medal of Kindness.

The carriage was as good as new, with even the broken windows restored, which also increased the temperature inside. As they drew closer to Town 2, the temperature warmed further. She went in search of the station master’s key, while Lin Wu was free to roam.

As they caught sight of the town’s silhouette, the train began to coast silently to reduce noise.

Town 2 was shaped like a T, with the station at the bottom of the T. The town was eerily quiet. Even after the train came to a stop, they saw neither zombies nor humans. There was a metal barrier on the tracks in front of the train, with a mechanism beside the platform, complete with a lock. Finding the key to activate the device would remove the metal barrier.

Maya instructed, "Unless those on field duty are in a crisis, do not use the walkie-talkies." This device wasn’t an earpiece; if someone shouted into it, your walkie-talkie could amplify the volume substantially.

Lin Wu was the first to set off. He skirted the station and peeked around the wall, immediately spotting zombies.

The zombies in Town 2 were quite distinctive, with most forming into groups. Some hordes numbered just three or four zombies, while others had over twenty. This was good news for Lin Wu; though the overall density of zombies was high, if one considered each horde a unit, the density was quite low.

The real problem was that the hordes had a particular fondness for the food and weapon stores, always maintaining a group in front of them.

Unaware that Lin Wu had already encountered the enemy, Maya reminded everyone through the walkie-talkie, "The pace of the darkness’ expansion has slowed."

Lin Wu quickly covered the walkie-talkie with his clothes, but even so, his actions startled a horde of zombies. Lin Wu immediately veered left, hiding behind the town’s surface rail. At the back of the rail, Lin Wu noticed about a dozen zombies loitering at the entrance of a house, circling the doorway.

Lin Wu looked up at the second floor of the house, where a female NPC stood by the window, blowing kisses incessantly at him.

Was she able to see the stealthy and handsome Lin Wu? Lin Wu walked a few steps in curiosity, then realized the woman wasn’t blowing kisses at him; her affection was directed at a male NPC across the street on the second floor of a convenience store, who was responding to her with hand signals.

There were no zombies at the entrance of the convenience store. Lin Wu climbed through the damaged glass door and, without paying much attention to the NPCs on the second floor, opened his backpack and looted the entire first floor. It must be said that convenience stores of this era were really poor, stocked with nothing but a few boxes of cookies and worthless materials.
