The Black Horse slowly regained its vitality and, after several attempts, finally stood up while Lin Wu watched on. After steadying itself, the Black Horse turned to glance at Lin Wu before trotting away, speeding up until it finally dashed into the forest like a bolt of lightning.

"I’ve heard that horse meat isn’t tasty," Lin Wu consoled himself before adding, "How could an advanced bandage be worthy of an expert like me?"

Lin Wu’s loss of the horse turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Turning his head, Lin Wu found the wood he had been looking for right beside him. It was a large tree branch. Why was there a large branch? Because the forest was right in front of him, and there happened to be a tree next to Lin Wu. Otherwise, why would he have walked a few steps before sitting down? Of course, it was to enjoy the shade.

Lin Wu’s acquisition of wood turned out not to be a misfortune? The branch was too large and as he pondered how to convince himself to give up, Wai arrived. Without supervision and only having received the command to wait in place, Wai had wandered off because he was too far from his master and thus had come running, following the scent.

Lin Wu was overjoyed and immediately ordered, "Drag it away."

Wai dutifully followed the command, biting onto the piece of wood larger than its head, but of course, it couldn’t really drag the branch. Deeply disappointed with Wai’s performance, Lin Wu stood up, grabbed one end of the branch, and dragged it down the mountain.

Upon returning to the cave, the two women were shocked by Lin Wu’s appearance. Hong Yi asked, "Did you collide with a horse?"

Maya commented, "I knew he wouldn’t die, but I didn’t expect him to survive and look this miserable."

Lin Wu touched his forehead and said, "The wound is self-healing, and after it heals on its own, my hair will grow back."

Maya asked with barely suppressed laughter, "You didn’t complain about it violating the principles of hair growth?"

Lin Wu chuckled, "They’re very busy. Give me the watermelon knife." What if the Little White Rabbit really meant it? His reputation was at stake, so he couldn’t be careless.

"Let me do it." Maya stepped out of the cave, used the watermelon knife to chop the branch, and quickly organized the wood into several small piles. Carrying the firewood back into the cave, Hong Yi began to cook dried fish soup. Maya, sitting aside, asked Lin Wu, "Where’s the horse?"

"Ah, it’s a long story," Lin Wu said. "I was soft-hearted for a moment, and it cost me both the wife and the soldiers. Otherwise, we could have had horse meat tonight. How about we eat Wai instead? It can’t even do as simple a job as carrying firewood; why keep it?"

Hong Yi laughed from the side, "Wai, you have a great master who thinks about eating you all the time, fully merging with you."

Lin Wu immediately got goosebumps, "Can you not phrase it like that? How am I supposed to eat fish later?" Love it enough to eat it.

"Horse!" Maya exclaimed.

Lin Wu and Hong Yi looked outside to see a Black Horse appearing at the entrance of the cave. Lin Wu instantly went into Stealth mode, "Don’t move."

Lin Wu slowly crouched and crept forward, eyeing the Black Horse and without turning back reached out his hand, "Give me two painkillers."

Maya placed two painkillers in Lin Wu’s palm. Lin Wu, with the pills in hand, continued to advance as Maya whispered from behind, "Is it deaf?"

"Perhaps," Hong Yi replied softly, advising Lin Wu, "Its resistance will be fierce, but perseverance is the key to victory."

"Wow," Lin Wu leaped up and landed on the horse’s back, motionless. Lin Wu looked at Maya and Hong Yi who were exchanging puzzled glances. You were supposed to buck, right? I’m ready with the painkillers, why aren’t you moving? What’s the meaning of this?

Lin Wu exclaimed with surprise, "Congratulations on taming your exclusive mount, please name your mount."

Maya was incredulous, and Hong Yi’s jaw dropped, asking, "Is it really that simple?"

Lin Wu dismounted and after a moment’s inspection of the Black Horse said, "Brother, you seem familiar."

Maya asked, "Could it be the same horse you rode before?"

Lin Wu circled the Black Horse and after a moment looking into its eyes, he said, "It’s not as arrogant, but generally looks quite similar."

Maya suggested, "It could be the same horse you just tamed."

"Possible," Lin Wu said. "After I stabbed it and it fled, it must have been reminiscing about the feeling of being stabbed all this time and so came back willingly." Gratitude for applying medicine? I stab you, then apply medicine and you’re thankful for my life-saving grace? What kind of bizarre logic is that? But it was also possible; perhaps the animal’s way of thinking was just that strangely intricate.
