Chapter 476: Chapter 244: New Base_2
Having dragged only one meter, the 18 bombs detonated simultaneously, sending a dozen containers flying with their blast waves, scattering debris everywhere. Starlight rolled over and mounted Lin Wu as a tearing sensation came from her back, and looking at her condition, she found herself in a bleeding state, obviously hit by flying fragments.
Maya saw it clearly, grabbed Dashuang, and yelled in his ear, "Go help," before pushing him away and leading Group A to jump into the sea and attack the Container Fort.
At the same time, the artillery fire called in by Group B arrived, showering down on the dense crowd of zombies rushing to support the Container Fort, with countless bits of flesh flying in all directions.
After a round of artillery fire, Group A had already begun climbing the containers. Shana’s Group B quickly approached the three-way junction. If the zombie horde continued to charge south towards the Container Fort, they were ready to stop them with all their bullets. When the bullets were gone, it was time for bayonets. In a word, unless Group B was wiped out, they would not let a single zombie through.
At this moment, Maya brought great news: "The Container Fort is clear. Stone, hurry up."
Stone was still clumsily climbing; he had neither attribute nor was he good at physical activities. The people at the top were so anxious they were hopping around, and finally, when Stone’s head appeared, they grabbed at his clothes and hair, pulling him up in a frenzy.
Stone was in unbearable pain, but surrounded by people with bloodshot eyes in their urgency, he could only endure the pain and race to deposit his honor points at the Blood Heart platform.
During this period, Group A left only Maya behind, the others dropped their supplies on the spot, returned along the rope, splashed through the ocean, and went to get resource packs from the convoy.
With 5 major materials, each with 20 units, equivalent to 25 resource packs, and five members in Group A, excluding Stone and Maya, 23 more resource packs were needed. At this pace, it meant the transport team had to run seven more trips, which was also related to Lin Wu and Starlight pulling out of the battle.
Horse Soul, Snow Egg, and Little Knife ran like the wind. Resource packs were different from other items; they couldn’t be carried by hand or other tools but had to be placed in backpacks, the trunks of cars, or stored in the inventory. (Why? Who knows why - even if both hands were free, one could only carry one at a time.)
After Starlight treated Lin Wu’s choking on water with first aid, she immediately joined Dashuang in the transport team. Seeing that the zombies showed no signs of reinforcing the Container Fort, Shana also pulled out Peanut to assist the transport team. Shana also had a small bomb on her. If the second round of artillery didn’t hold the zombies’ attention, she was ready to become the new source of noise in a last-ditch effort.
Because of the resistance of the seawater, the progress of the transport team was slow, but with all crises resolved, success was now just a matter of time.
Minutes later, Maya completed the occupation of the Container Fort, and the new base was tentatively named Container Fort Base. Like all the branch bases, it operated on a personal system, with the first batch of members being four people: Snow Egg, Little Knife, Horse Soul, and Maya.
Lin Wu was taken back to the infirmary at the Shadow Base for treatment.
During the treatment, the high-level meeting at Shadow was held continuously; as the two bases were not allied, communication had to be done verbally rather than wirelessly. The main topics of the meeting were: how to use the 18 small and two large slots, naming the branches, member allocation at the branches, and alliance planning.
According to the previous plan, to save on big slots at the Sawmill, only six people would remain, and one barracks would be dismantled. Twelve people would be divided into two groups, each consisting of six. However, there was one rule at the Sawmill: if the number of members fell below five, it would automatically disband. If two sudden deaths occurred at the Sawmill, it would be dissolved.
High-level discussions were needed to decide arrangements. Either logistics personnel would be placed at the Sawmill, ensuring that as long as they didn’t go out on duty, the possibility of two people being killed at base would be practically nonexistent. Or strong fighters would be arranged, such as the nearly indestructible Lin Wu. Another option was to use a reward card Maya had obtained to divide the large slot into two small slots and establish a dormitory with one.
No matter which method was chosen, there would be pros and cons. Such contentious discussions were typically only attended by Stone, Maya, and Shana, but now Starlight was also involved. The meeting touched on a wide range of topics, so Shadow decided to call for a larger meeting and forced everyone to attend at gunpoint.
The meeting was scheduled for the following morning at eight at the Sawmill, with Snow Egg and Little Knife staying behind at the Container Fort. It wasn’t because their opinions didn’t matter, but because they wouldn’t be able to offer any effective suggestions; they were better off with some private time.
Safety was not a problem. The Container Fort lived up to its name, with only a single access road from the south along the sea dike. One marksman stationed at the top and another at the entrance to the first floor would ensure that no matter how many zombies came, as long as the guns didn’t fail and there were enough bullets, it would be a breeze.
...
Non-allies could enter the base, but their skills, attributes, and weapons would be locked and unusable. Of course, if you really wanted to, you could use your fists to fight people.
Ten people sat at the repaired conference table, looking rather official. Stone cleared his throat and explained the agenda, keeping it as simple as possible.
The first item, base groupings. Maya presented the situation: if too many people were assigned to the Container Fort, the Sawmill’s defense would be problematic, possibly even leading to its dissolution. If too few were assigned, the Sawmill would not be able to free up slots.
Lin Wu made a decision with Full Power Value: "Five people to the Container Fort, let the Container Fort contribute manpower for alliance, and all of the Sawmill’s manpower will be dedicated to research."
