Chapter 388: Chapter 210 Assault

Early in the morning, Shana and Bai Ban had already started working, while Lin Wu and Wai sauntered to the main base. Stone sat solemnly on his throne, composting and reading the newspaper, while Su Shi was dismantling watches in the workshop. Lin Wu and Wai flopped onto the conference table in the backyard, competing in a crawling race.

Since Wai reached the edge of the table first, Lin Wu, feeling annoyed, pushed it off, which caused Stone to roll his eyes. Lin Wu stayed prone, looking sideways at Stone, "What are you reading?"

Stone was momentarily stumped, then said after a pause, "Can’t say." It was best not to mention any nouns that had value implications.

"Anything fun in there?"

After skimming for a bit, Stone replied, "Not much, just that the beach is under construction, it needs 48 hours."

Lin Wu asked, "Got enough building materials?"

"Enough," Stone said impatiently. "If you really have nothing to say, you can shut up."

Feeling bored, Lin Wu beckoned Wai to crawl opposite him and they had a staring contest. After a while, he let Wai go catch mice on its own. Rolling off the conference table, Lin Wu crawled all the way to the workshop, where Su Shi was also reading the newspaper and looked toward Lin Wu at the door, "Bored, huh? Want some newspapers to read?"

"No need, I’m having fun crawling." He crawled forward, then suddenly rolled ahead, drawing a gun from his backpack and leaning against the wall, entering a movie-like scenario where he imagined Stone as the target. Before Lin Wu could finish the roll, a playing card whizzed past his face, startling him. He watched the card land on the ground and stood up to confront Stone, "Old Man, when did you pick up this trick?"

Stone flipped his left hand, a playing card in his grip, which he flicked out. The card flew back to Stone’s hand like a boomerang, showing evident creases. Holding the card between two fingers, Stone said, "Who hasn’t been young?" He flicked a smooth card at Lin Wu.

Lin Wu caught the card, "Sounds like there’s a story there."

Without lifting his head, Stone replied, "A youth without stories isn’t a youth."

Su Shi stepped out of the workshop, tossing Lin Wu a repair kit, "If you can afford the time to discuss youth with Stone, why not drive the Overlord back here?"

Lin Wu, "There are a lot of zombies over there."

Su Shi, "It’s not like you can die."

Lin Wu, "I’ll go and die for you to see."

Vehicles in the homestead were divided into scrap and non-scrap. Non-scrap vehicles could be driven, and once their durability reached zero, they could still be recovered to a certain extent with a repair kit.

Looking at the repair kit, Lin Wu asked, "Is this homemade?"

Su Shi nodded, "It wastes less material than the repair shop. Let’s see how much it can fix."

"Alrighty."

Lin Wu called Wai over and they went to play with the zombies where the Overlord was laid to rest. After killing off the underlings, Lin Wu towed the Titan away, made a loop back, and used the repair kit on the Overlord.

As the progress bar completed, the Overlord regained 5% durability. Repair kits could only deliver 50% effectiveness on vehicles with zero durability. Lin Wu got into the car, reversing slowly – not leisurely, but cautiously. A mere 5% durability could be wiped out by a single scratch. With no doors, no windshield, and a severely crinkled exterior, the car was emitting black smoke and sparks.

The car reached the eastern parking lot’s safety zone when suddenly a grenade landed five meters from the vehicle, causing its 5% durability to hit rock bottom and the whole car to burst into flames. Lin Wu quickly floored it, driving the fiery vehicle into the parking lot, leaping out as it rolled and exploded after crashing into an iron fence.

Su Shi ran out and, seeing the car parked properly, questioned, "It can blast from 70 meters away?"

Lin Wu, assessing his injuries which were all self-healing, ignored Su Shi and cursed, "Old Man, show your face if you dare."

Stone, holding a grenade launcher, appeared with an innocent face, his gaze falling on the Overlord. He asked accusingly, "Do you even know how to drive? Such a short distance and it still exploded?"

Lin Wu, "It was blown up by your grenade."

Stone simply didn’t believe it, "Really now, as if I can aim that accurately."

Lin Wu, at a loss for words, shook Wai’s body, "You have to stand up for me."

Stone said to Su Shi, "Don’t bother fixing it. Just leave it there as a storage cabinet. By the way, is your bird cage done yet?"

The ’bird cage’ Stone referred to was a platform that could be hung on the top of a warehouse, used for defending the base.

Su Shi replied, "We need quite a bit of iron. There’s no trash during winter. Since spring, there’s plenty, but not much metal. I’ll have to speak with Maya and organize a day for dismantling work."

Lin Wu passed through the little gate in the iron fence, took a few steps into the eastern gate of the factory area, and as his left foot stepped in, the base alarm sounded: 5-star Siege, 10-minute countdown.

"This has got to be a joke," Lin Wu was shocked. He was the only one in the whole base who could fight, and the worst part was that he was an assassin. If it had been a six-star, he could just walk away without a problem. But a five-star? Running away would seriously ruin his reputation.

Stone pulled out a grenade, "Finally, it’s my time to shine."

Su Shi sighed, "Perfect timing for the car to break down." He took a newspaper, opened the Overlord’s trunk, crawled inside, and pulled the lid shut.

Lin Wu looked at Stone, "Change your weapon, get an assault rifle, a handgun, all the meds, everything. Wai, you go up to the Meteorological Station’s outpost to enjoy the show. Don’t you dare come down without my order."

Heading to the arsenal, Lin Wu watched as Stone returned the grenade launcher and picked up an assault rifle and a handgun. His mind was racing faster than anyone else’s. About six Five Star Furies. Challenge number one: the scream. There were a lot of zombies nearby, and if the scream got going, the zombies would keep coming non-stop. But as long as the Siege Zombies were killed off, he, Stone, and Su Shi could temporarily hand over the base to the zombies. Challenge number two: two Titans.
