Chapter 384: Chapter 208 Deep Blue Star
Lin Wu, upon hearing Peanut speak, had a spark of inspiration and said, "Peanut, chop off the agent’s hand, I’m sure it can open one of the rooms."
Peanut saluted, "Yes, sir," and looked towards Maya, who nodded slightly. Although Lin Wu wasn’t as smart as Maya and Shana, he wasn’t constrained by existing information and wasn’t governed by it.
Of course, this wasn’t always a good thing. For example, when Supermarket A had a grand opening sale, from the information available, the products at Supermarket A would definitely be cheaper. Lin Wu’s logic was, because Supermarket A has a sale, there will be fewer people at Supermarket B, so I should go to Supermarket B. Firstly, Lin Wu had an advantage because there were fewer people at Supermarket B and he didn’t have to queue. Secondly, Lin Wu could also take a gamble—what if Supermarket B decided to compete with the grand opening of Supermarket A by having its own sale?
The core of his theory: Avoid crowds. Especially at supermarkets that offer free eggs; not only are they crowded, but you also have to queue for five minutes to check out, and the service attitude deteriorates due to the high workload.
Because of the discovery of the fingerprint lock, Lin Wu had something to be arrogant about. Even if the agent’s fingerprint didn’t open the lock, it would still be worth it. What if it did work? Then he could theoretically boast that he had surpassed 5% of the population in intelligence.
This is why Lin Wu had set up a supermarket base early on; his character was more suited to exploration rather than being a cog in the machine of a team.
Maya continued to move bodies, glancing sideways at Peanut. Soon, she heard the sound of an electric current, and Peanut held up the agent’s middle finger towards Lin Wu: "It’s open."
Little Knife, while dragging a body, whispered into Peanut’s ear, "You’d better be careful."
Peanut immediately turned the middle finger towards the others, while excitedly announcing, "It’s open, Lin Wu’s amazing, it really is open."
When miscreants succeed, chaos reigns! Maya let out a deep sigh and crouched next to Lin Wu, "I was wrong."
Lin Wu: "Where did you go wrong? How could you be wrong?"
Maya said, "I shouldn’t have explained carpet searching to you. Look, now that the door is open, isn’t it a bother for you to make a trip?"
Lin Wu extended his left hand: "Help me up."
"I have had enough." Little Knife came over and raised her right foot.
"I’m giving Snow Egg face," Lin Wu twisted and slipped out from under the foot, stood up and moved to the door, entering Stealth mode. As Lin Wu got into his working mode, everyone else quietened down.
Lin Wu gently pushed the door open a crack and looked inside for a while, then upon pushing further found that there was a security chain in place. Lin Wu called Little Knife over, "Your hands are small."
Little Knife understood and reached her hand through the gap, pulling the door back to give the chain some space to move. While everyone held their breath in anticipation, a hand inside touched the back of Little Knife’s hand. Little Knife turned pale with fright, jumped a yard high with a scream, withdrew her hand, and fell sitting to the floor, scrambling on all fours to Shana’s feet and clung onto Shana’s thighs, "Oh my god!"
Lin Wu exclaimed, "Little Knife, did you invest in Agility?"
"You..."
Lin Wu clarified, "It was an accident. What did you touch?"
Shana crouched down to calm Little Knife, who, after a while, steadied her nerves and said, "A hand touched the back of mine."
Maya asked, "Cold or warm?"
Little Knife paused, "I forgot."
Lin Wu: "Go and feel it again."
Little Knife was frantic, "I don’t want to go."
"I’ll do it." Peanut bravely stepped forward and, under everyone’s admiring gazes, he pulled out the agent’s left hand from his pocket and reached in.
After all, a game is a game, and it leaves a certain amount of leeway for the player. Hotel security chains usually require the door to be closed in order to be removed, but this lock had more lenient conditions. Not knowing whether anyone had touched the agent’s hand before, Peanut seriously used the middle finger of the agent’s left palm to hook up the door chain and then pushed it sideways, unlocking the security chain.
Lin Wu pushed the door open wide enough for a person to enter, everybody spread out and observed for a while but didn’t see any abnormalities. Lin Wu as Wind Stinger slipped through the gap into the room and saw a zombified security guard in a suit standing by the back door, clearly the one who had touched Little Knife’s hand.
The zombified bodyguard lunged at Lin Wu, who, as Wind Stinger, took it down and opened the room door.
The room Lin Wu and the others were in was the spacious living room of Room 15 which had a bathroom and led to four other doors labeled Master Bedroom, Secondary Bedroom, Secondary Bedroom, and Conference Room.
Maya looted the corpse, finding an ID: "Tinghai Security Company, a bodyguard company’s dispatched personnel, not a private hire bodyguard."
Shana: "Everyone, be careful."
The situation was better than Shana expected, with only four zombies inside Room 15—three men and one woman. Their combat abilities were not much different from ordinary zombies. The master bedroom housed a male, while the secondary bedrooms had two males and one female. Judging from their attire, the man in the master bedroom appeared to be the owner of the room.
Maya said, "Next room."
Lin Wu asked, "That’s it?"
Maya said, "Our mission is to find the Deep Blue Star."
Lin Wu replied, "Why are you so sure that the owner of the Deep Blue Star is a female star? It wasn’t stated whether the female star is A-list or not."
Maya responded, "The female star stays in the secondary bedroom, while a man of higher status occupies the master bedroom? Even if it’s a casting-couch scenario, the female star and the man should stay in the master bedroom together."
Lin Wu said, "But the room was opened with the agent’s finger."
Maya turned to Shana for help, as Lin Wu’s tantrums were not scary, but his serious attitude was. Shana said, "Let’s split up. Horse Soul and I will continue to search Room 15."
Maya nodded, "Good, the rest of you keep unlocking."
Maya left Room 15, and after just a few minutes, Horse Soul’s voice came through, "Found it, the Deep Blue Star, we found the Deep Blue Star."
