Chapter 344: Chapter 193 Air Corridor

At 8 p.m., Peanut replaced Lin Wu on sentry duty, and Lin Wu teamed up with Maya to lead a spearhead force across the river to raid the power station. Horse Soul, Snow Egg, and Little Knife provided rear fire support with their crossbows, while Peanut and Emerald Feather stayed behind at the post to coordinate.

Lin Wu advanced alone, prying open the control room of the power station and gently pushing the door open. He didn’t look inside; instead, he lit a Molotov cocktail and threw it straight in, then quickly retreated. Seconds later, a large group of zombies burst out of the door, including two Titans and over a dozen Frenzies. At this moment, an Exploding Carnage ignited and exploded, shaking the ground nearby.

The zombies that rushed out couldn’t find a target and seemed bewildered. Crossbow Arrow and the sentries began thinning them out, but when Titans were hit, they would roar, attracting more zombies from around the area.

Lin Wu, the assassin, had no advantage in large-scale combat; obediently, he stayed with the others and picked off zombies with a Silencer. The main force now was the two sentries at the post, whose assault rifles were powerful killers. If only Emerald Feather hadn’t lost Forest Wolf, then they wouldn’t have considered even a few Titans a threat.

Ten minutes passed, and Lin Wu and Little Knife lay on the ground flicking stones, while Snow Egg watched with relish. At his adamant request, they joined in on the stone-flicking. Even Maya put down her repeating crossbow—crossbow bolts may be cheap, but they’re still made of materials. She realized that the two assault rifles were not enough to clear out the main zombie force in the power station.

The toughest were the Titans and the Frenzies: the former because they could take a hit and were hard to target from a distance, the latter because if you shot one and it couldn’t find the shooter, it would start to rapidly wander, making it difficult to follow up with more shots. Couldn’t they just keep targeting one Frenzy until it was dead? Of course, but in the meantime, more zombies would respawn, and the roars of the Titans would draw in new ones.

They could adopt the tactic of occupying the Sawmill, holding the respawn point with manpower. However, there were no Titans in the Sawmill at that time.

It seemed as though the sentries had lost motivation, and the gunfire became sparse. Soon, a car drove up near the power station and honked its horn, causing zombies to either head for the door or climb ’over’ the wall towards the car. It was Peanut, anger rising in his heart, taking courage from fear, driving straight toward them.

Seeing a large number of zombies being pulled away, Peanut reversed the car, using its rear to knock down and kill pursuing zombies. Just when Stone thought Peanut was going to drive the car back into the base, he switched to drive, floored the accelerator, and plowed into the wave of zombies emerging from the power station at high speed. The car mowed down zombies like a scythe, especially slamming into a Titan, knocking it to the ground.

Meanwhile, the car’s engine caught fire, and after 7 seconds, the car would explode.

Peanut got out of the car and sprinted away, counting down aloud before diving to the ground just in time to avoid the explosion that obliterated the surrounding zombies—none except the Titans survived. Without stopping, Peanut ran to the eastern parking lot, jumped into another car, started it, and charged out again.

Stone yelled in desperation, "Enough, enough!" This isn’t an auto repair shop, is it? Cars are tools, not weapons.

Peanut returned to the fray, where a lot of zombies were attracted by the explosion to the wrecked car. He ran over another group with the car, knocked down the Titan again, and continued to flee on foot.

This was Invincible Base’s aggressive tactic, utilizing cheap repair kits, numerous vehicles, and the daily increase in gasoline—a method exclusive to Invincible. First, use the car’s impact to clear zombies, then the car’s explosion. If one was not enough, bring in another, and another...

Due to Invincible’s conservative strategy, Invincible Base had never actively used car tactics in practice. Peanut never thought he would genuinely carry out such tactics at Shadow Base.

When Peanut was about to take a third car, Stone stopped him: "I said enough."

Peanut looked towards the power station and discovered that their side had successfully captured it.

Having occupied the power station, Lin Wu and the others squatted along the perimeter wall, looking at the road not far away, where two scrapped cars completely blocked it. The first solution, dismantle the cars to clear the road. The second, repair them to clear it. Currently, there were only two repair kits in the warehouse, each capable of repairing a certain level of automotive durability.

A row of people squatted on the wall, like sparrows perched on a powerline, with Snow Egg feeling the most distressed: "He blew up Overlord." Overlord was not only Snow Egg’s favorite, but also a favorite of the group. It was a gift upgraded and presented by Invincible Base to Shadow Base in gratitude for their help in defending the city.

Maya said, "There’s no denying that was a very effective method."

"From now on, we can only go out on foot,"

Maya replied, "We could swap for repair kits at the market." Clearly, she appreciated Peanut’s car tactics.

Lin Wu asked, "What else do we have now besides a few guns?" There’s some serum left that could fetch a price, but the most valuable ammunition is nearly depleted due to the second expedition.

Through the command channel, Stone said, "Lin Wu, come back for your shift."

"Oh." Lin Wu glanced toward the Sawmill, which was bathed in light, and commented, "I must say, electricity is the foundation of life." Food? Food is the basic necessity for survival.

Maya said, "Don’t dawdle, get to your shift."

Lin Wu walked off, grumbling. Having fewer people meant more annoyance; he had to be on duty every day. Lin Wu loved playing with guns, enjoyed being on sentry duty with them, and should have gladly accepted this job. But liking to shoot and having to shoot were two very different things for Lin Wu, and subconsciously, he resented having to work. Fortunately, it was just a rebellious feeling, and not long after entering into his role, Lin Wu became the consummate sentry.
