Chapter 300: Chapter 175: Defending the City_3
The Titan’s rising speed wasn’t fast, first bracing with the left hand, then the right, kneeling on one knee with the left leg, then stomping with the right. By this time, Lin Wu had already approached within 3 meters of the Titan, firing headshots, bullets creating countless blood spots on the Titan’s head. The Titan staggered for the third time and fell to the ground again.
Lin Wu clicked the rifle into the crook of his arm, swapping the magazine with one hand, and continued to spray at the Titan. However, the reinforcements summoned by the Titan had arrived—although they were just ten ordinary zombies, Lin Wu had to disengage to deal with them. Lin Wu emptied the magazine to take out the ordinary zombies; by then, the Titan had already stood up.
Seeing this, Lin Wu used all his might to escape, but the falling fist missed its mark. The fist hit the ground, shaking the earth so much that Lin Wu fell to the ground. The Titan took a few steps forward, bent down to grab Lin Wu, but by then, Lin Wu was already halfway to his feet, sprinting out of the Titan’s grasp like a 100-meter dash. The angry Titan picked up a zombie corpse from the ground and threw it at Lin Wu. However, Lin Wu, burning through his stamina at full speed, was running too fast, and the zombie missed him completely.
Moving too quickly and about to crash into a wall, Lin Wu hit the brakes, turning to collide with the wall using his already disabled left side—it was already useless, so a bit more damage didn’t matter. After taking medicine for pain and health recovery, he turned around and opened fire. When the Titan charged at him, it finally staggered for the fourth time, revealing a fatal weakness.
Lin Wu emptied the magazine, the last ten bullets all hitting the Titan’s head. The once invincible Titan fell to the ground, dead.
Lin Wu forwent Corpse Looting and rushed back to the base; there were already over a dozen zombies inside.
At this time, Maya was in a birch tree at the edge of the safe zone, below her, a Titan rushing forward. This tree wasn’t the one Lin Wu used to hang ropes on.
The Titan’s body slammed into the tree, clearly breaking its trunk. The Titan ran backward as Maya slid down from the tree, running out of the safe zone. The Titan abandoned the idea of ramming the tree again and turned to run towards the base. Maya entered the safe zone, climbed up another tree, and peppered the Titan with shots. The Titan turned back, charging toward the birch tree where Maya was positioned.
Lin Wu cleared the zombies from the base and took the elevator to the rooftop, only to see the Titan ramming the tree, so he aimed and opened fire. Maya took the opportunity to shoot the Titan from above.
If Dawn had a conscience, it wouldn’t have spawned two Titans at once. And if it didn’t have a conscience, when it did spawn two Titans, at least it didn’t release a horde of Frenzies. Like the last siege, where over twenty Frenzies appeared at once. If two Titans had appeared at the same time, there would be no need to fight—just hand over the base.
Only when the Titan fell did the Fierce Troop begin to appear. Lin Wu handed his gun to Maya for repairs and picked up another to spray down the approaching Frenzies. Maya’s assault rifle, the Raider, used 7.62 caliber bullets, which were much more powerful than 5.56; there was no need to specifically aim for the Frenzies’ heads, just fire at their bodies to kill them. Carbon-based lifeforms were always carbon-based lifeforms.
Frenzies spawned in under a minute, and within that minute, 15 of the Frenzies were killed by the two of them. Lin Ma didn’t even look for cover; they just leaned against each other on the open ground in front of the main entrance, relying solely on their firepower to eliminate the Fierce Troop. The remaining 7 Frenzies? Naturally, they had attacked the base from the back door.
Taking care of the front meant neglecting the rear; the situation was worse than they had anticipated, the base was in chaos. Entering the base, Maya crouched down for a kneeling shot while Lin Wu stood firing. Every zombie that tried to break through was shredded to pieces. Especially the Raider’s 150-round high-capacity magazine—there was no need to change it, its firepower not only killed all zombies, it also left the base riddled with holes.
With no more Fierce Troop or Titans, the last 4 minutes of the siege were garbage time. Lin Wu and Maya each held down a corridor, freely pouring out bullets.
