Following an NPC, they reached the deck and boarded the helicopter. The pilot turned around with a smile and said, "Welcome to hell. My name is Falcon."

Lin Wu replied, "My name is Hunter."

Both looked at Maya, who said, "Then I’ll go by Huntress."

Falcon chuckled, and the helicopter took off, flying into the blue sky. During the flight, Falcon said, "Channel 4 is mine, channel 3 is for your team, and channel 2 is for the commander. If we need to, we’ll switch to channel 3 to contact you. Please do a sound check."

As they flew closer, they could vividly feel the desolation of the city. All that met their eyes was devoid of life, with particles of dust blowing across the streets in the air.

"Green zombies," Maya uttered.

Lin Wu looked down and saw about a dozen green zombies lift their heads and howl at the helicopter flying overhead.

Falcon slowly landed the helicopter at a crossroads. Lin Wu and Maya disembarked, and after a wave from Falcon, the pilot flew away. Lin Wu and Maya readied their guns and crossbows, remaining on alert until the helicopter had departed without noticing any activity.

Maya opened her map, searching for landmarks and pointed on it, "We are here."

The area of Waste City was vast, and the map divided it into 12 districts. Lin Ma was currently in District 4. Lin Wu deployed a drone and explained, "There are zombies 40 meters away from us, and not just a few."

Maya said, "Let’s find the scientists and the soldiers."

After controlling the drone for a while, Lin Wu said, "There is a White Point 1500 meters to the south, inside a building. We can’t confirm their identity. The road to the target is narrow and there are lots of green zombies hidden nearby. The best approach would be to move through buildings."

Lin Wu then brought the drone back and packed it away. Unless they returned to the fleet, there would be no way to charge it, and the drone only had a four-hour battery life.

To the left, there was a row of shops, with residential spaces or perhaps offices above them, now indistinguishable. Maya gestured and the two of them stealthily approached a shop resembling a café. Maya leaned against the wall, gestured Lin Wu to look, and then pointed to her eyes. Lin Wu nodded.

The café’s glass door was bereft of its glass, and Lin Wu entered through the empty frame, into the poorly lit interior. A minute later, Lin Wu came back out and rejoined Maya: "Three zombies, standing still, occasionally turning their heads. There’s a staircase to the right. In front of the café’s main entrance is a street, and standing outside are about a dozen figures?"

"Figures?"

Lin Wu said, "Perhaps zombies, but they are covered in a layer of yellow sand."

"Let’s go."

The two entered the café and made their way near the bar without incident. Lin Wu gestured toward the right, indicating the presence of a zombie. Maya nodded, peeked forward, and saw a staircase going up with a zombie standing at the bottom of it. Using the Repeating Crossbow, she shot it in the head.

The zombie fell to the ground, making a noise, which to Lin Wu and Maya’s surprise, alerted the other two zombies in the café. Hearing a thumping sound from the right, Lin Wu quickly pulled Maya and they hid beneath the bar.

The growling from the zombie’s throat grew louder as it neared. Maya dared not attack; even if she took down the two zombies, the noise of their falling might alert the dozen or so outside. If they were not careful, the numbers of zombies could snowball out of control.

Then, a sound approached the entrance of the bar, stopping less than two meters from them. Lin Wu raised a hand, signaling, and Maya nodded. Lin Wu moved to the entrance of the bar, with Maya aiming her crossbow at the same spot. After a moment, a Three Grapes Zombie appeared, spotted Maya and Lin Wu, and then an arrow from the Crossbow Arrow pierced its skull.

Lin Wu rolled forward, catching the falling zombie and gently laying it on the ground. Maya picked up a shard of mirror from underneath the bar, spotted the remaining zombie, and signaled Lin Wu: 4 meters, get ready.

The two quietly went upstairs where the café continued, free from zombies. Lin Ma approached a window and looked down to see the figures that resembled zombies. Maya shot with her crossbow, confirming they were indeed zombies as one fell to the ground. The surrounding zombies stirred, shook off the sand, and revealed their true nature as green zombies.

However, they did not notice Maya, who looked left and right for a while before returning to a still state.

The second floor of the café had a hole in the wall leading to an adjacent room. Just as the two were about to pass through the breach, they heard gunfire not far away.
