Lin Wu bragged and Maya was left speechless.

Lin Wu tilted his head and whispered to Maya, "Do you think it could be Dawn playing tricks on me?"

Maya couldn’t follow Lin Wu’s logic, "Why would you think that?"

Lin Wu said, "Last time in the secret lab it accessed my profile and remembered I had given it trouble multiple times. So maybe it’s purposely letting me comprehend a lot of skills before killing me off."

"Hmm..." The idea wasn’t without logic, but it was a bit paranoid.

Lin Wu, "If Dawn doesn’t have such intentions, then there’s only one answer."

"What answer?"

"Handsome. I’m handsome, and so is my luck." Lin Wu saw Maya’s look of disdain and asked, "Or do you have another explanation?"

"Handsome, handsome, handsome," Maya replied dismissively, carefully pondering the matter. Lin Wu’s skills weren’t excessive, Quick Gunner was a five-star agility skill, Beast Trap was a blueprint skill, and Ten-Star Stealth was quite normal. The reason Lin Wu was strong was due to three rare comprehension skills: Wind Stinger, Stealth, and a marker skill derived from the Hunter profession.

Maya learned swordsmanship from reading, Little Knife comprehended Undying from grinding mobs; all comprehension-based skills were directly related to their own actions. Maya speculated the system had a reward mechanism, as Lin Wu was the first to kill Frenzy, Blood Ferocious Ma, Titan, and Blood Plague. This speculation wasn’t unfounded, as Lin Wu always received a Loot Chest reward for first kills. Afterward, no matter how many Frenzy and Blood Ferocious Mas he killed, loot never appeared.

Maya compared Lin Wu and Nightmare. Apart from Life Skills that could be learned through Skill Books, Nightmare, who died often, was basically a blank slate with no skills. Nightmare’s advantage lay in her equipment, which was a whole dimension ahead of the average player’s. Lin Wu was skill-focused, and dying once would make it hard to come back. The two arrived at a vacation cottage on the right side of North Lake. Having learned from previous lessons, they became incredibly sneaky. Being sneaky left no room for Maya to shine; she could only follow Lin Wu’s lead, assassinating quietly. It wasn’t until only two zombies remained in the final circle that Maya stepped in to take them out.

The orchard’s picker allowed players to pick extra fruit for consumption.

The toilet’s plunger, spending 5 minutes using it, increased morale of all base personnel by 10% for one hour.

The kitchen’s barbecue grill, unlocking the ability to grill meat.

The winery’s alcohol distiller, for purifying medical-grade alcohol.

The dormitory’s sleeping bag, adding 10 points to warmth value.

The lounge’s PS6 console, for playing games.

Upon acquiring the game console plug-in, Lin Wu immediately flipped through the base construction blueprints, noting that the lounge needed a large indoor grid, 12 building materials, and a choice of two among sofa, television, and pool table crafted in the workshop, plus 10 types of sealed wines.

Maya asked, "You plan to play games inside a game?"

Why do I feel like an idiot? Lin Wu immediately retorted, "Homeland game is mandatory, I don’t have a choice not to play. PS6 is voluntary; I play if I want to play."

Maya asked, "You think the content of PS6 games is richer than Homeland?"

Lin Wu, stubborn as a mule, "I just like playing monotonous, simple games."

Maya walked off with a laugh.

You stay right there, what do you mean by that? It’s infuriating. Reflecting on the conversation, I felt I didn’t perform well, got bullied, and even looked down upon.

The next target was the scattered campsites within Forest Park, where they found several food packs and a brand-new fishing rod that could be used. Some players believe that fishing without the bonus of Fishing Skill is real fishing. Lin Wu pocketed the fishing rod; although not very interested in fishing, he couldn’t help but think it would come in handy if one day the base got flooded and he was stuck inside.

After a day of searching, they found a handgun, two hunting knives, four food packs, two medical packs, and one building materials pack. The rest were plug-ins, a chaotic mix of various kinds.

The lounge’s coffee machine plug-in, the shooting range’s moving target plug-in, the workshop’s hand-operated drill press, the gym’s weight-bearing equipment, the command post’s signal booster, the medical room’s foam stabilizer, and so on.

Back at the base, Maya cleared the zombies near their residence, went to get some sleep first. Games could be played after sleeping, as she already took the day off, and couldn’t afford to take another.

At eleven in the evening, Maya woke up from her sleep, drew the screen aside, and discovered Lin Wu’s compartment was empty. She then opened the dormitory door, and to her surprise, was greeted by Lin Wu’s grinning face. Maya stepped back, frightened, and asked subconsciously, "What are you up to?"

Lin Wu waved his hand, "I’m taking you to see something cool."

Maya followed Lin Wu out the north gate of the supermarket, then saw a Screeching Zombie suspended in the air. Twenty meters from the supermarket and five meters off the ground, Lin Wu had used a rope through a tree branch to hang it up. The other end of the rope was tied to a tree, ensuring that other zombies couldn’t bite through it.
