Chapter 142: Chapter 112 Undying_2
A zombie grasped Little Knife’s arm, but Little Knife, with her formidable strength, pushed its head against a chair and, with a single hand chop, severed its head, "Unending." With every Blood Zombie she killed, a layer of Blood Mist enshrouded her body. As the word "Unending" was heard, the Blood Mist solidified into Armor and clung to her body.
"Lin Wu, the more, the better, bring as many as you can. Quick, quick, quick!"
So, Lin Wu used the last Molotov Cocktail, and two more waves of zombies emerged. Little Knife became even more ferocious, and it seemed her strength was also increasing exponentially; she could send a head flying with just two punches. Her aggressive fighting style exposed many weaknesses, and she was bitten by zombies multiple times, but Little Knife didn’t care at all, taking a painkiller whenever she had a chance to continue the brawl.
Lin Wu felt something was not right with Little Knife and also felt like he had done something wrong.
Suddenly, the ground shook violently, and a Titan appeared out of nowhere in carriage number 7. This wasn’t an ordinary Titan; it was a Blood Plague Titan. However, its appearance was rather comical, as it filled the train like a cork.
The next second, with a furious roar, the Titan swung its arms and tore the carriage apart as if it were made of paper. Then, the Titan burst through the carriage, jumped off the train, leaving the scene in complete disarray.
"Run, what are you doing?"
Lin Wu watched in disbelief as Little Knife, red in the eyes, smashed through the train window, leaped onto the Titan’s shoulder, and delivered a vicious punch to the Titan’s head. The Titan grabbed Little Knife’s legs with its right hand and her head with its left, roaring loudly before pulling with all its might. To Lin Wu’s astonishment, Little Knife wasn’t ripped in half. The Titan tried the same move again, roaring, but still failed to tear Little Knife apart.
Little Knife shouted, "Help!"
How to help?
The Titan was very angry. It grabbed Little Knife’s clenched fist with its right hand. Bending over, it hammered her into the ground three times in succession and then threw her away. Lin Wu watched in shock as Little Knife, several meters away, struggled to stand up. What the hell?
Little Knife fed herself a painkiller, "Lin Wu, run."
"Oh."
Lin Wu took off running, with Wind Stinger propelling him three meters forward. The Titan’s fist had already smashed through the carriage, narrowly missing Lin Wu. Lin Wu ran inside the carriage, while the Titan chased from the outside. After a short chase, the Titan pounded the ground with its fists, and Lin Wu was sent flying forward by the shockwave, tumbling to the ground.
But, being a fast runner paid off; after rolling twice, Lin Wu got to his feet and kept running, throwing three Beast Traps in the Titan’s path. There were three loud snaps, and the Titan stepped on all three traps. Even so, the small Beast Traps could only injure its toes. Nonetheless, the injury to its toes slightly slowed the Titan down. Its running speed was comparable to Frenzy, but it had less stamina; it could only run for about twenty meters before it had to slow to a jog, and only after a short break could it pick up speed to nearly 40 kilometers per hour.
This time, Little Knife was smart and ran off without waiting for Lin Wu. Sure enough, it wasn’t long before he caught up with her. Seeing no sign of the Titan, Little Knife scanned her chest back and forth, panting, "That scared me to death."
Lin Wu, "The question is, why aren’t you dead?"
"Undying."
Lin Wu, "Hmm?"
"Undying, Unending," Little Knife explained. She had acquired a passive skill called Undying, which came with a red progress bar. Killing a Blood Zombie would add a point to the progress bar, which would slowly decrease over time. When the progress bar reached 100, the Unending skill automatically activated, giving her an additional progress bar.
Upon entering the Unending State, all infections were cleared, all injuries were healed, immunity to new infections and toxins was granted, and immunity to all injuries was given. Strength attributes increased by 500% in the Berserk State. While in the Unending State, bleeding would occur, but the blood loss was greatly reduced; what would originally decrease 100 points of blood, now only decreased by 20 points. Most importantly, blood loss did not deduct from the life limit. In theory, by relying on painkillers and the Unending skill, Little Knife could become an undying being.
By continuously killing Blood Zombies, you can keep replenishing the progress bar, and every time it’s full, you activate the Unending State. As long as you have enough healing potions and there are enough Blood Zombies, Little Knife could keep killing from the server’s opening to its closing. Of course, Titans are the exception. The unlucky Titan happened to face the undying Little Knife, who was in a killing frenzy and even dared to throw punches directly at the Titan, almost getting himself smashed to a pulp.
After being thrown away by the Titan, Little Knife’s Unending State disappeared, and only then did he think of escaping.
Little Knife’s explanation was, "Entering the Undying State, some movements become uncontrollable. After entering the Unending State, thinking becomes somewhat uncontrollable, which is why I would smash the windows and fight the Titan. But at that time, I was not scared at all and just wanted to flatten its head with my fists."
"You... this incident," Lin Wu pondered for a long time, "come with me to the separate base, and let Maya analyze the situation."
Is this skill awesome? It’s ridiculously powerful. Is this skill easy to use? Not necessarily, because the prerequisite is that there must be enough Blood Zombies. Currently, other than bullying Blood Plague, where are there so many Blood Zombies? That’s for Maya to calculate, how much progress each Blood Zombie kill contributes, how much the bar decreases per second, and to arrange a systematic plan for Little Knife.
After leaving the tunnel, Lin Wu looked back at the passage that ran through Left and Right County, thinking that for a long time to come, the traffic between Left and Right County would be completely cut off. Considering that it takes 80 rounds of 7.62 ammunition to take down a Titan, a Blood Plague Titan would require 80X3 rounds of 7.62 ammunition.
Left and Right County combined probably couldn’t come up with that many bullets.
...
Maya, the tactical master, encountered a difficult problem, and what stumped her was that the woman in front of her didn’t remember the details.
Little Knife: "Each time I kill a Blood Zombie, the bar jumps up by one notch, and it’s not just a single one, there are many notches on a progress bar. The progress bar slowly declines. Once it’s full, it evolves into an Unending progress bar. The Undying progress bar still accumulates, while the Unending one slowly declines, and can only be replenished by filling the Undying bar."
In the end, it was the bystander Lin Wu who recalled the situation at the time, helping Maya come to a rough conclusion: "Killing one Blood Zombie increases the bar by 15%, and it drops 1% per second. Without replenishment, the Unending state lasts between 30-60 seconds. Assuming 30 seconds, the bar drops by 30% in that time, so you must accrue 130% within 30 seconds. Conclusion: You must kill 9 Blood Zombies within 30 seconds to maintain the Unending state."
Lin Wu added that after entering the Undying State, Little Knife typically uses two moves to kill a zombie. Either two punches to send the head flying or one press and one slice to behead it, taking about two seconds to kill one Blood Zombie.
Maya said, "You’re definitely going to get infected facing Blood Zombies, so the only way is to fill the progress bar to clear all infections and injuries. Therefore, don’t engage unless you have 9 Blood Zombies. If there are more than 9, you can go ahead and take them on solo."
How to put it? It seems not very meaningful, just useful for farming Blood Plague. However, a Titan is guaranteed to appear in the fifth wave of the Blood Plague, so you can only farm the first four waves. Or you could actively farm the Blood Plague to clear the infection and injuries after being infected, which is much more efficient than lying in a sickbed.
After contacting Stone, Maya rode her bike to take Little Knife back to the Shadow base. With Maya’s current strength, unless she dealt with a Titan head-on, it was almost impossible for her to die outside. With a Model 41 in hand, there’s no fear of players with ill intentions.
North Town had a few instances of murder and looting earlier, but now it’s been incredibly harmonious. Since everyone lives closely, bad deeds by players are easily spotted, and once discovered, it’s broadcasted over the radio. Thugs walking on the road might find themselves targeted by black shots from nearby bases. After all, it’s a game, and players aren’t likely to suffer in silence.
Player vs. player combat differs slightly from fighting zombies. The deadliest part is the head, a surprise attack to the head is almost fatal, and a shot to an already injured head can be critical. As long as you protect your head, you’re up for a fight. Depending on where the body is hit, players can suffer bleeding, fractures, and other injuries, reducing both health and maximum health.
Maya told Lin Wu that in actual combat, hitting the head from over 10 meters away is pretty difficult.
A player from Right County has already obtained a forehead guard from a blue treasure box. The forehead guard is a one-time use item, immunizing against one fatal head injury. There has been only one such forehead guard in Left and Right County. Bulletproof vests require crafting, starting with the need for tailoring skills, and thus far, it’s said that only Shana from Left and Right County possesses these skills. Making bulletproof vests requires ceramics, steel, iron, fabric, and other materials.
There are almost no PK incidents in Left County, and since bulletproof vests weigh a hefty 5 kilograms and require substantial materials, the Shadow base has no plans for mass-producing them.
