Chapter 2571: Creeping Despair

Chapter 2571: Creeping Despair

Crimson infernos unleashed by the ten suns; they crack the grounds and boil the oceans.

The Fusang branch burns to cinders, and countless souls bemoan heaven.

A bowstring is pulled in a perfect arc; its target heaven.

A thunderous snap that shakes the highest clouds!

The arrow pierces through a golden crow, causing blood to gush like a stream.

The descending celestial flames torch the plains.

...

The shot Golden Crow screamed in agony. His feathers scattered all over the ground as his blood spurted across the sky before he plummeted onto a western mountain, leaving a crater in his wake.

As time passed, a deep spring known as the Feather Spring would form there. That was also the place Zu An had seen when he first entered this place. Zu An had wondered why he didn’t see the Feather Spring when he entered this world this time; little could he have known that he was the one to inadvertently create it.

Countless despairing living beings on earth witnessed the downfall of a sun and cheered in delight. Tears of joy flowed down their faces. Even though it was just a single sun, it brought them hope and vented the anger they felt.

The more powerful entities thought further ahead. They wondered what would happen to the man who accomplished this feat. Emperor Jun and Xihe wouldn’t let someone who had killed their son live.

Those on Wu Mountain had a better grasp of what was going on. The Kaiming Six Shamans exclaimed in fear, “The one who shot that arrow can’t be that little brother, right?”

The Mermaid Queen naturally knew it was Zu An. She anxiously turned to the Goddess of Wu Mountain and asked, “Goddess, now that big brother has killed one of the Golden Crows, will the Celestial Court go after him for vengeance?”

The Goddess of Wu Mountain looked grim. “The Golden Crows’ father and their mother will likely go after him. In particular, Sun Goddess Xihe is known to dote on her sons.”

At the same time, she was also awed. Zu An had to have known all this, but he'd still chosen to make a move. He felt like a valiant hero who stood steadfast to his principles.

“What should we do?” The Mermaid Queen panicked. She could still request help from her connections if this was her previous world, but she knew no one in this world. The inability to do anything left her feeling profoundly helpless.

“Wait for me here. Don’t go anywhere. I’ll contact those who can help.” The Goddess of Wu Mountain morphed into a fog and quickly left the area.

The Kaiming Six Shamans were taken aback. “The goddess has always been a lofty individual. She rarely speaks to others; it’s rare for her to proactively make a move. She must be seeking her elders for help.”

“Even the goddess is making a move. We can’t just sit still here.”

“Indeed. We have to get as many old friends to help out as possible, even if it means hurling out our pride!”

...

The Kaiming Six Shamans headed off as well, leaving the Mermaid Queen anxiously squeezing her sleeves while she observed the situation in the distance.

...

In the distant battlefield, the Golden Crows’ laughter halted. They were shocked and infuriated. “How dare you kill our Ninth Brother!”

You have successfully trolled the Golden Crow Princes for +888... +888... +888...

Zu An remained impassive despite the massive influx of Rage in his system. These Golden Crows are reacting so strongly just because they lost a brother. What about the massacred tribes I've seen along the way?

Not wanting to waste his breath arguing with the Golden Crows, Zu An drew his bowstring once more. Perhaps it was an illusion, but he didn’t feel as if he had expended any of his energy. On the contrary, he felt stronger than ever.

This didn't make sense. Perhaps he had significantly advanced his cultivation, but he didn’t have the aid of the Spirit Mountain’s Ten Shamans, Yun Jianyue, and Yan Xuehen this time. Even a single arrow should have expended his energy significantly. And yet, he felt more spirited than ever. This felt like neither the Kun Peng’s nor the Taotie’s Heaven-Devouring Sutra’s ability. Rather, this energy was something he had never felt before.

He suddenly recalled that the biggest difference between celestials and mortal cultivators was that celestials had divine personas capable of absorbing faith, wish energy, or other things along those lines. For a moment earlier, he'd felt as if he had received wish energy from billions of living beings. They strongly willed for vengeance against the ten suns and the conclusion of this apocalypse.

His deed had happened to grant hope to all living beings in the world, so they'd offered him their earnest blessings and prayers in hopes that he could accomplish this feat.

While he was pondering all these things, yet another white light harnessing the surrounding ki and the masses’ wish energy flew forth.

Yet another Golden Crow plummeted from the sky with a wretched shriek. The suns in the sky became much less glaring. Resounding cheers came from the surroundings.

The remaining eight Golden Crows didn’t dare to underestimate Zu An. They quickly spread apart and began their retaliation. Meteorites and flames fell from the sky and bombarded the ground where Zu An stood. Terrifying explosions followed; massive holes were left in the surrounding radius. Even the ground was turned into slowly flowing lava.

“That fellow must be dead now!” one of the Golden Crows hollered.

“He got off easy!”

“I think I saw a rainbow flash past.”

“You must be seeing things. How can there be a rainbow in such heat?”

...

They quickly realized that they weren’t seeing things. Yet another white light flashed past, and yet another Golden Crow screamed in misery and plummeted from the sky.

“What?!” The seven surviving Golden Crows were horrified.

They began taking evasive maneuvers while bombarding Zu An with even more attacks. With their sharp golden feathers, they formed a powerful sword formation that unleashed relentless attacks upon Zu An.

They had learned their lesson this time. The sword formation left no room for escape, and the seven Golden Crows even made sure to seal his aura off too. No matter where he dodged, the golden swords would chase him to the very end. An archer wouldn’t be able to pose a threat if he had no time to draw his bowstring.

They were determined to make him experience a fate worse than death!

Looking at the golden feather swords in the sky, Zu An suddenly felt small and insignificant. However, he didn’t panic. He knew his aura had been locked down on, and dodging would only result in him losing control over the momentum of battle.

Thus, he didn’t bother to dodge at all!

A Seven-Colored Divine Halo shone, and all the golden swords vanished into thin air.

The eyes of the Golden Crows nearly popped out from shock.

However, there was no time for them to think before three streaks of white light flew at them. Three Golden Crows screeched in misery as their blazing bodies plummeted from the sky.

“That is Zhuanxu’s bow, Suzeng! Why is it in his hands?”

The remaining four Golden Crows finally lost their courage. The first two deaths could still be passed off as carelessness, but despite them putting their strength together, their brothers were still falling one after another. By this point, it was clear to them that they were outclassed!

They desperately fled for their lives, morphing into four golden lights that fled in different directions. Each prayed desperately that the next victim would be one of their brothers, so they would have more time to make their getaway.

When the Golden Crow First Prince heard two screams of agony, he knew two more of his brothers had fallen. His expression warped in anger. Wait till I return from this ordeal. I’ll gather my men and tear that scoundrel into pieces!

He wasn’t worried in the slightest. He thought that there was no way Zu An could catch up with him after killing two of his brothers. The Golden Crow Radiant Flow was a top-notch movement skill. No other movement skill, other than the Heavenly Peng Stride and Rainbow Morph, could catch up with it.

Hold on! Rainbow Morph?

The sudden recollection of the rainbow they'd seen made the Golden Crow First Prince narrow his eyes.

Just then, he spotted a rainbow in his peripheral vision. Before he knew it, Zu An was already standing in front of him. He finally tasted the same despair experienced by the other living beings earlier.
