Chapter 2570: The Deafening Arrow That Shakes the Clouds
Under the blazing sky, a giant reminiscent of a hill charged at the ten suns with a wooden staff. Every step he took easily traversed several mountains, yet he was still significantly slower than the ten suns. He had no idea how long he had been chasing the Golden Crow Ten Princes. It was so hot that his body was scorched red throughout, and a layer of dead white skin had formed around his lips.
He finally saw a raging river he remembered as the human tribes’ famed Yellow River. Under the ten suns, the river bubbled furiously, but he couldn’t care less. He squatted next to the river and began drinking its contents. He almost apepared to be enjoying it even though the water was boiling.
He drank so fast that it didn’t take long for him to gulp down the entire Yellow River. He regained his spirit and continued chasing after the ten suns with huge strides.
However, the suns seemed to be making fun of him. Instead of escaping while he was drinking water, they'd stopped to taunt him. It was only after he downed the river that they hurriedly sped off.
Under the extreme heat, Kuafu’s stamina was being quickly depleted. He soon started gasping for air, but luckily, he stumbled upon the Wei River. Like before, he drank up the entire Wei River before continuing to chase after the ten suns.
By this point, he had already realized that he was no match for the ten suns. Even if he caught up with them, he wouldn’t be able to exact vengeance for Nuba. However, he was fueled by indignation. He refused to submit to the ten suns just like that.
The Shaman races could be defeated, but their spirit could never be quelled!
The chase continued, but Kuafu quickly felt thirsty again despite having just drunk two rivers dry. He remembered that there was a huge lake ahead. Once he drank up that lake, he would have the energy to continue the chase.
It was a pity he didn’t last until reaching the lake. His legs felt increasingly heavy, and he soon struggled to keep his eyes open. He knew that he had reached his limit, though he couldn’t understand why. He wasn't be a match for the ten suns, but he should have been able to last longer.
He looked at the eerily smiling suns in the sky, and realization struck him.
“I see...”
The realization made him stop his chase. He used the last bit of life force he had left to toss his wooden staff. Where the staff landed, grass began to grow. Not even the ten suns’ heat could wither the vibrant life force sprouting out.
Peach blossoms flowered into peaches. The peaches fell to the ground and turned into new sprouts. From these new sprouts, new trees rose. Soon, an entire forest of peach trees emerged from the wooden staff.
Cries of misery suddenly echoed from the surroundings. They were wretched, yet there was a tinge of liberation in them.
“How dare you foil our plan!” a furious voice echoed.
A fireball fell from the sky and landed on Kuafu. However, Kuafu’s body was so strong that this meteorite-like attack didn’t smash his body to bits, but it charred huge swathes of his skin.
Even so, that wasn’t enough to vent the suns’ anger. They unleashed more fireballs to reduce him to ashes.
Just then, brilliant sword ki surged in from afar and sliced the fireballs into fireworks.
The ten Golden Crows looked over and saw a rainbow headed toward them. Before they knew it, Zu An had already landed next to Kuafu.
Seeing his charred body, Zu An’s expression darkened. “I arrived too late.”
Kuafu pointed at the sky. “Be careful of the vile...”
However, he breathed his last before he could finish his words. His eyes were wide with indignation, as if he regretted not being able to finish speaking.
The ten Golden Crows circled the sky. “Who are you? How dare you meddle in our business!”
Zu An ignored them. He glanced at the nearby peach forest, and it made him realize something. He gently closed Kuafu’s eyes as he murmured, “Rest assured, I know what you want to say.”
Others would think that the Golden Crow Ten Princes had come out for vengeance because Nuba insulted their father, and then continued roaming the world out of mischief. Their deeds had caused widespread destruction, but in light of their lofty standing, their punishments wouldn’t be too severe.
But Zu An knew things weren’t that simple. Based on the information he had gathered thus far, the sudden appearance of the ten suns was no coincidence. It was planned.
The Myriad Souls Banner, the Soul Destruction Cauldron...
The appearance of the ten suns has caused widespread deaths, but the souls of the deceased are nowhere to be found. Emperor Jun must be using the ten Golden Crows to complete the final step of sacrificing all living beings in the world to his formation.
Kuafu had to have figured that out, so he'd formed this peach forest with his staff to restrain the souls. That hindered the collection of the souls in the vicinity. No wonder the ten Golden Crows were so agitated.
“Brat, we’re talking to you! Are you mute?!” the Golden Crow Sixth Prince roared.
Zu An finally looked up at the ten suns. His eyes were sharp enough to make out the gleeful smiles on the ten Golden Crows. They couldn’t understand the weight of what they were doing. “You must have done all these things thinking that no one in the world could stop you.”
The ten Golden Crows were initially taken aback before bursting into laughter.
“Look at what you’re saying. A mere human like you intends to stop us?”
“Know your place, mortal ant!”
“We’re the Celestial Emperor’s sons! You don’t know how many blessings we've brought to the world over the years. So what if we have a little bit of fun now and then? Those weaklings only have themselves to blame for being unable to withstand our heat. That has nothing to do with us!”
“Why waste your breath on a mere ant? Ant, slice your detestable tongue and snap off your limbs right now; I’ll consider sparing your life.”
...
Zu An remained perfectly calm in the face of their gleeful laughter. If he's decided to send the ten suns out now, Emperor Jun’s preparations must be complete. It’s unlikely that Xiaoxi is safe.
He glanced at Kuafu’s charred body and remembered the doomsday scenarios he had seen along the way. Charred black human silhouettes filled the walls and the grounds of countless villages, as if trying to tell him something. He felt as if someone had set his blood on fire.
Just then, Mi Li exclaimed in agitation, “Calm down! Emperor Jun has spent a long time plotting this scheme. It’s not something you can deal with by yourself. The best you can do right now is to contact the Shaman races and have Wuhui report to the Celestial Court. There are plenty of powerhouses to deal with this incident. You mustn’t get involved in this massive karma.
“Don’t let your recklessness get ahead of yourself! This is one of the biggest incidents in the flow of time. You aren’t from this time. There’s no saying what will happen if you force your way into this matter. If you’re killed by Emperor Jun in this world, you won’t even get a chance to reincarnate!”
...
Mi Li had been keeping an eye on this matter. Upon sensing Zu An’s intentios, she had no choice but to wake up and advise him. She usually cherished her words as if they were gold, yet she'd suddenly spoken so much in a single breath. That reflected just how anxious she was.
A red bow appeared in Zu An’s hands, but he looked extremely calm. “Big sister empress, I know it would be wiser to heed your advice, but if a person cultivates so hard only to dare not make a move in the face of injustice, what has he been cultivating his entire life for?”
“You’ll die!”
“All beings eventually die.”
Zu An leaned backward as he drew his bow in an arc like a full moon. The surrounding ki furiously gushed toward his body. It didn’t feel as if he was pulling the bow alone, but as if billions of living beings were standing behind him.
A white light burst forth and pierced through a Golden Crow. Its blood flowed like a
