Chapter 105 | Into The Unknown

Chapter 105: Chapter 105 | Into The Unknown

The door loomed in front of them like a sleeping giant, towering over all, its surface covered in carvings of twisted dark figures, etched deep into the frame.

The images stretched across the entire structure like a haunting painting of dread and death, telling a story no one wanted to read.

Venedix stepped forward and extended her hand, placing her palm against the door.

The surface was cold, rough, and pulsing with something ancient.

She stood still for a moment, feeling the texture beneath her skin.

The door suddenly let out a low whirring sound, sharp and eerie, like it was screaming in protest, rejecting her touch with something unnatural.

"This cannot be opened by conventional means," Venedix thought, her expression unchanged as she slowly shifted her hand down to the hilt of one of her swords.

Gripping it tight with both hands, she took a step back, readying herself.

Her blade began to hum, and golden cracks of lightning started to arc violently across its surface.

It was unlike her usual crimson eclectic eidra—this was something different.

Something more raw.

It was prime eidra—pure, untainted energy, something that couldn’t be blocked or overpowered by light, dark, or any other type of eidra.

It crackled loud in the air, a force that seemed to burn through everything around it.

She raised her hand slowly, steady but firm, gathering a powerful surge of eidra at the edge of her blade.

The air buzzed and shimmered as golden arcs cracked around the sword’s edge, flickering wildly with raw energy.

For a moment, the air around her stood still—then Venedix brought the sword down in a clean, powerful downward slash.

*CRACK!!!

The sound that followed cracked through the air like lightning, loud and fierce.

Her blade tore straight through the dark door diagonally, the energy within it cutting effortlessly through the corrupted material.

A moment later, a massive section of the door groaned and collapsed inward with a deafening,

*BANG!!!

sending a burst of dust and darkness into the air.

The rest stood still for a second, staring silently at the huge diagonal slash left behind.

Their eyes shifted to Venedix, none of them speaking as the echo of her strike still lingered in their ears.

"Now, come," Venedix said calmly, not even glancing back as she stepped forward and walked inside, her figure disappearing into the darkness beyond the entrance.

"That woman..." Garan growled lowly, his eyes narrowed as they followed her.

"That was prime eidra..."

"Aye," Biyo replied, moving forward with a heavy step, his boot thudding against the fallen slab of the door.

His voice was low but steady. "The tides of the battle might have fallen to our favour."

One after another, the rest of the group followed, stepping into the shadowed tower behind Venedix.

Their figures vanished one by one into the looming dark, while the outside courtyard remained sealed off, still guarded by the towering ice wall that Biyo had left behind.

What awaited them inside was a vast, cavernous interior, far larger than any of them expected.

The air was cold and silent, almost unnaturally still, yet the space itself pulsed faintly, as if the tower were alive and breathing.

All across the wide chamber, strange light flickered from every direction.

In each of the room’s four corners stood large, swirling portals—each glowing with a different color, twisting and shifting like water being pulled down a drain.

Their surfaces shimmered with rippling energy, occasionally letting out soft, otherworldly hums that echoed faintly across the stone floor.

"Well, if it’s a tower and these are portals," Vox muttered, slowly turning his head as he tried to take in everything at once,

"then these should probably lead us to the upper levels..."

His eyes remained locked on the strange portals, watching how each one pulsed and flickered like they had a heartbeat of their own.

Venedix said nothing at first.

Her eyes moved across the room, not just scanning the portals, but studying the people around her.

She looked carefully at the children, her expression unreadable.

Then her gaze landed on Ophelia, lingering there for a few seconds longer than the rest, remembering the way she had wielded her light-based eidra earlier.

After that, her eyes shifted to Hector—she had seen his ability to lock down and restrain enemies, and she had already made up her mind.

"You girl, and you," she said flatly, raising her hand and pointing at Ophelia and Hector.

"Both of you will come with me."

Without waiting for a response, she turned her attention toward Biyo and Garan, her voice just as calm as before.

"The rest of you, split up among yourselves and head toward one of the portals. Pick one and move."

Then, without further discussion, she turned and began walking steadily toward the western portal.

Golden sparks still faintly danced along the edge of her sword as she moved.

Ophelia and Hector exchanged a glance, worry and determination flickering in their eyes.

Still, neither of them hesitated.

They silently followed behind Venedix, though they briefly looked back at the group.

Garan let out a quiet snarl, his arms folded across his broad chest as he looked at the remaining group.

"I move better when I’m alone," he muttered. His eyes shifted sideways to Biyo, and he pointed a clawed finger at him with a half-growl.

"You, big meat—these small meats are yours."

And with that, he turned his back and walked away, his heavy steps echoing faintly as he made his way toward the northern portal.

He didn’t look back or wait to hear any objections.

"Well... looks like it’s just us five now," Verhedyn said, letting out a breath as he glanced at the others.

"Let’s not waste any more time," Orin spoke up quickly, "We need to find Jinn as fast as we can—we don’t know what kind of sick shit they’re doing to him right now."

"Aye," Biyo nodded with a grunt, rubbing his beard while looking over the portals again.

He stepped forward, then pointed at the eastern one. "Let’s go with that one. My gut’s tellin’ me it’s the way."

"Let’s hope your instincts are right," Kain muttered, but there was no sarcasm in his voice.

Just a trace of tension.

Without saying anything more, the remaining group began to move.

One by one, they stepped toward the eastern portal, trusting Biyo’s instincts and hoping their path would lead them to the higher levels of the tower—where Jinn was likely being held.

Venedix and her chosen pair had already vanished into the western portal, her figure swallowed by the swirling light as she led Hector and Ophelia into whatever waited beyond.

Garan had taken the north, walking alone with nothing but his sharpened instincts and his predatory mind to guide him.

And now Biyo took the east, leading Vox, Orin, Kain and Verhedyn with firm steps and a heavy sense of purpose.

The tower did not speak, but the portals pulsed brighter for a brief second as they each disappeared—one group after another—into the strange, hidden heart of the enemy’s lair.
