Chapter 73: Please, stop talking like I saved you

"Never!" The twins simultaneously responded, shocking Dongwoo.

"It was never your fault so why would we think that? To us, you’re the purest person that ever lived on this planet." Seojin kissed his hand. "There’s no way we would find you disgusting. It’s just simply impossible."

Dongwoo was speechless. He didn’t think he would get such a strong reaction from them.

They said he was the purest? They knew nothing. How exactly was a guy, who was currently lusting after them pure?

If they knew this, would they still regard him as pure?

"We did wrong by evading your privacy but it ends there. We can never see you as disgusting."

"The ones who are disgusting are the bastards who came into your life, destroyed your self-esteem, and left simply because you could not do more than your body could handle. They’re the abominations."

’Wow, what a way to put it.’ Dongwoo thought, still stunned by their retaliation.

"Hyung, you’ve been nothing but a victim all your life." Seojin said, and Dongwoo flinched. "You have a lot of bruises that refuse to heal and even the healed wounds leave scars. A lot of scars that remind you of pain."

Seojun got closer and took Dongwoo’s second hand. He placed it on his cheek and melted into his touch with his closed eyes.

"You didn’t deserve any of it. You finally need someone who will stand by your side and help you heal."

Dongwoo gritted his teeth.

"Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t." He said. "I couldn’t and still can’t have anyone near me. I’m cursed."

"What do you mean?"

"You looked into my past, you should be able to tell that there is a pattern." He said.

"Pattern?"

"Yes. There’s a pattern to how things work in my life. I go into the world, find someone who cares for me and that person ends up leaving. I get crushed for a while. Then I get back up, go into the world, and once again, a person who seems to care comes along, but I..." His eyes grew teary. "I can’t do anything to make them stay. I always end up alone. Either they get mad and frustrated and then leave me, or they just get fed up because I can’t give them anything. I... I’m cursed. I can never be happy."

"So what if you’re cursed?" Seojun asked and he raised his head, his tears rolling down his eyes with no restraint. "In fairy tales, most princesses were cursed before getting their happily ever after."

"And before they got their happily ever after," Seojin took over. "There was also a charming prince to kiss the curse away. And in your case," he brushed the tears off his cheek. "You have two princes."

Dongwoo pushed his hand off his face and cleaned the tears by himself, sniffing in the process and saying,

"This isn’t a fairy tale."

"Then stop talking about curses because those only happen in fairytales as well." Seojun said. "If you want to talk about curses, we’ll be your knights in shining armor. If you want to talk about fate and destiny, we’re your endgame. And if you’re ready to give it up and just take it as you meeting too many bad people along with the natural phenomenon of the country, then we’ll be your support. Either way, we’re here to help and support you."

Dongwoo went silent.

To think Seojun had such a way with words. If he didn’t know any better, he’d assume he had that entire thing scripted somewhere and was reading off the script.

"Life... Isn’t that easy?" He said, but the twins were yet to give up.

"That’s why we want you to rely on us." Seojin said. "Our life has been way so far and do you know why? It’s because you, Hyung, had a huge positive impact on our growth and the way we viewed the world." He said. ’Though I still feel the entire world is shitty for giving Hyung such a fate, I’ll make do with it and make it a better place where Hyung can smile with all the freedom in the world.’

"Please, stop talking like I saved you. If anything, you two are the ones who saved me. I still owe you a debt I do not know how to repay." Dongwoo said, taking his hand out of her hold and testing them on the bed behind him.

"You don’t owe us anything, Hyung." Seojun said. "Remember, the reason for your trauma was ’our’ father. The reason you were in that house, the reason he made you his next target, was because you came to visit ’us’ every day. If you look at it, we’re the sole reason why you had to go through that so don’t blame yourself for anything. We... We were just glad we were able to save you before he went too far."

Ah, they didn’t know what they were talking about.

Those were Dongwoo’s thoughts. They were kids at the time. They weren’t supposed to kill anyone at that young age and certainly not their father.

What they said was logical but... It wasn’t that easy to erase the guilt he had been living with all his life.

"Hey," he called. "...you... Found out I was gay, right?"

"Yes, Hyung."

"What did you think about it?"

"Nothing at all." Seojin answered. "We actually felt good about it because then it would be easier to make you fall for us, Hyung. Since you’re naturally attracted to men."

"Don’t say words like that carelessly." Dongwoo said and proceeded to ask what was on his mind. "Then, you probably know I can’t have sex."

"Yes, Hyung," Seojin answered. ’Ah, it was probably wrong of us but knowing you’ve never done it with anyone was actually relieving since we know one of us will ultimately be your first.’

"It’s not a problem, Hyung." Seojun said. "I know it might’ve been as a result of your trauma but I believe, with great care, which neither of your past lovers were able to provide, you’ll be able to overcome it."

Dongwoo went silent.

Right. This was the type of guy they were. Always positive on the uptake.

’They say that now, but once they see how I react to sex advances, they’ll definitely come to hate me.’ Dongwoo thought and got down from the bed. ’For now, let’s end the conversation here. It’s fine that they aren’t disgusted like I feared. This is enough.’

He decided it was time to head home.

"Thank you both for caring." He said. "And I forgive you for what you did. Next time, try to value a person’s secrecy."

They nodded and he turned.

"Hyung," Seojin suddenly called, grabbing him by the wrist. "I have one question for you."

"What is it?"

"When things got tough, when you felt you couldn’t go on anymore, what was it that kept you going?" He asked and Dongwoo paused.

Ah, did they find that out as well? Well, if they did, he wouldn’t be asking that now, right?

He finally smiled at them, after so long and said,

"It’s just a picture."

The twins were so caught up in his smile that they didn’t realize when he had picked up his bag and left the room.
