Chapter 373: A surprise party

One month later...

Justice had finally been served. Mrs. Lee was behind bars, her crimes exposed to the world. Not even her powerful family could do anything about it because the one who had brought her down was none other than her own husband, Mr. Lee.

Though his actions had sparked a backlash against his reputation and company, he seemed to be handling the fallout with ease.

Meanwhile, Dongwoo and Minwoo had been discharged from the hospital.

After the kidnapping incident, Dongwoo fell unconscious for a week, and when he finally woke up, he found the twins sleeping next to him.

’Lily, I’m sorry I couldn’t take care of you for much longer.’ Dongwoo thought with a sad look on his face.

"Hyung," Seojun and Seojin called the same time and Dongwoo turned to them, calling their names one after the other.

"Seojun, Seojin, I..." His stomach grumbled and he smiled in embarrassment. "I’m hungry."

Dongwoo went to see where Lily had been buried after that, paying his last wishes to the cat who had been so brave and saved him countless times while he was kidnapped.

He would never forget her.

Minwoo cried as soon as he saw Dongwoo again, hugging him and tearing up like there was no tomorrow.

He never imagined their parents would do something like that. But he was glad their mother had been out behind bars.

He was glad Dongwoo was okay and nothing had happened to him.

Geumtae was relieved but sad as well. He loved Lily as much as Dongwoo did, even more. Lily had a space in his heart and his house, but of course, animals didn’t have forever to live, so... He couldn’t have wished for forever with her.

But he was glad Lily was able to reach her master and died heroically. Her spirit would definitely be even more majestic than she was in real life because of how heroic and bravely she died.

Things were going well and Minwoo was finally getting discharged from the hospital.

His leg was fine to move around with, but he still needed to hold on to his crutches before he made a complete recovery.

November 27 was the date.

Dongwoo was the one picking up Minwoo from the hospital since Sungho was absent for some reason and the twins also had something to do.

He didn’t mind doing it alone.

As they headed for Minwoo’s apartment, they chatted about how much had happened in the past few days. They laughed and joked, enjoying each other’s company as always.

They even talked about how they missed a lot of therapy sessions. Miss Hwang was such a nice lady and her talks helped a lot.

"Hey, Hyung, aren’t you forgetting something?" Minwoo asked but Dongwoo could not replay point out what he was forgetting.

"Um, no. I made sure to get everything from the nurse." He said. "Sungho also picked up the rest last week so the load wouldn’t be much. So I think I picked up everything."

But Minwoo shook his head and sighed. He wasn’t getting the picture, was he?

Anyway, they were almost there.

When they arrived at Minwoo’s apartment, Minwoo said,

"Hurry up, hyung, you’re walking a bit too slow." Minwoo said, his eyes sparkling with a secret.

Dongwoo raised an eyebrow but said nothing, following Minwoo into the apartment building. As they stepped into the elevator, Minwoo punched in the code, and the doors slid open on his floor.

But as they walked towards Minwoo’s apartment, Dongwoo noticed something odd. The door was slightly ajar, and he could hear the faint sound of voices coming from inside.

"Wait, Minwoo," Dongwoo said. "Do you think Sungho is back already?"

"Well, probably." Minwoo answered, darting his eyes away suspiciously. "He said he’d be done soon. Why’d you ask?"

"Your door is opened." Dongwoo pointed out as Minwoo waved it off.

"I think it’s nothing. Let’s just go in."

Minwoo pushed open the door, and Dongwoo was shocked by the sudden cheer.

"Surprise!"

His heart raced a thousand miles per second because of the shock. He placed his hand on his chest while holding the wall for support.

"What the...?" He looked up and his eyes widened in shock. The room was filled with people – Seojun, Seojin, Sungho, Geumtae, Taiha, Eunwoo, Doha, Eunkyung, Haejoo, Jaeho and a few other family faces from Wailers. Wait, why was the CEO here?

There were balloons and streamers everywhere, and there was a huge cake. Seojin was holding onto the cake with a wide smile. For a huge cake, it had just two candles.

"Surprise!" everyone chorused once more but more softly this time and Dongwoo stared in confusion.

What were they doing?

"Minwoo," Dongwoo called, turning to Minwoo. "I think they prepared a surprise party to celebrate your discharge," he said but Minwoo palmed his face.

"It’s not for me, dummy. It’s for you." Minwoo said.

"Me? But I got discharged two weeks ago." He said, acting clueless and Geumtae shook his head.

"Sweetie is always so innocent and cute," Geumtae said. "He doesn’t even know it’s a birthday surprise party."

"Ah," Dongwoo exclaimed. "A birthday surprise party? For... For me?" He looked around confused, and they all nodded. "Today is my birthday?"
