Chapter 368: This little beast...
Dongwoo finally got the knife after straining for a while, but then one of the men who was supposed to be at the front of the warehouse, standing guard, walked in, so he hid the knife right away.
"Seriously, those people. What are they even chasing after?" he asked with his head looking around, but as he saw the dead bodies on the floor, his eyes widened. "Shit! What happened here?"
"The... The killer..." Dongwoo said, trembling. "The killer... They ran after..."
"There’s a killer?" He was immediately alarmed. "And they’re chasing after him right now?"
Dongwoo nodded.
"No wonder they all left their post. This is so messed up." He said and turned the bodies. "Damn, Iluk, I can’t believe this is how you died." He said sadly and then looked up at Dongwoo, who was trying to stay calm.
He was trying to keep up the act that he was still frightened by their sudden deaths but he was doing a bad job at it.
This person was rather skilled and noticed what Dongwoo was doing with the knife behind his back.
Since his hands were tied to his back, it was only reasonable that he tried to cut himself free from the back.
"You..." He called. "What’s that you got there?"
He walked closer and Dongwoo began to sweat. How did he notice he was doing something when he wasn’t even seeing his back?
The man suddenly got angry at Dongwoo’s silence and slammed his head to the wall, shocking Dongwoo.
The pain coursed through him from his head down to the rest of his body. That... That head slam... It had shocked him to his core.
"I’m pretty pissed right now that my friend is dead, so don’t keep me silent you little twerp!" He glared at Dongwoo.
’My vision... My vision is blurry.’ he thought and his body fell down.
He didn’t exactly have a tough skull to be able to withstand that. His head bleed, and the man tilted his head after calming his rage.
"Hm? I didn’t kill him, did I?" He asked, pushing Dongwoo’s head to see if he was still alive.
And then an explosion occurred, shaking the ground and the entire warehouse building.
"W-what the hell is going on?" The man yelled, as the ground trembled and more explosions followed.
Smoke filled the air in an instant, coming from the direction where the explosions had occurred.
Dongwoo was barely conscious, but he could faintly see what was in front of him, and he heard the commotion too.
His vision was blurry and for a second, he wondered if his life was flashing before his eyes.
The man in front of him decided to take Dongwoo and get out of there. At least, if he was able to hand Dongwoo over, his money would be secured.
But just as he bent down to grab Dongwoo, Lily jumped out of nowhere and attacked the man.
With his giant vision, he was able to see the commotion, he was able to see Lily struggling.
"L-lily," he called weakly.
His hands were barely free, but Lily came forward and cut the rope with its claw. She was acting so smart. How was she so smart?
The man caught Lily by the neck before Lily could get away from there.
"This little beast, aish..." he hissed, touching the blood on his face. Lily had scratched him really badly. "Just where did it come from?"
Lily hissed, flailing her claws at the man but he held her away to avoid more attacks. She was practically in attack mode and she was not ready to go down without a fight. Not when Dongwoo was still in danger.
It was as if she was doing this to repay Dongwoo for saving her life at the start. If he had not picked her up, she would’ve definitely died on the streets.
So, she was using her animal instincts to fight to the end.
Dongwoo’s hands were finally free and he reached his trembling hand slowly towards them.
’Lily,’ he called inwardly, but Lily freed herself from the man’s grip and then ran from there, causing the man to chase after her after a little contemplation.
He was certain Dongwoo would not be able to get away from there so he would just put an end to that cat before coming to get Dongwoo. That is if the fire did not get to him first.
’No, Lily. Don’t go.’ Dongwoo wanted to say these words, but he could not even keep his eyes open properly. ’Lily, don’t go. Stay with me. Don’t go.’ his eyelids slowly closed. ’Dont...’
"Dongwoo!" Seojun’s voice suddenly echoed and Dongwoo’s eyes shot open.
’Seo...jun?’ he was surprised. Why was he suddenly hearing Seojun’s voice at a time like this? Was he hallucinating?
Yeah, it was definitely a hallucination.
He started closing his eyes when the next voice echoed loudly.
"Dongwoo Hyung!" It was Seojin’s voice this time.
They were here, weren’t they? This wasn’t a hallucination, right? Please, let it not be a hallucination.
"Dongwoo," more calls echoed, hoping to get a response from Dongwoo.
Dongwoo felt weak, even his voice wouldn’t come out. He just needed to make a noise loud enough to get their attention, otherwise, they would never know his location.
Slowly, he sat up, pressing his back to the wall. He just needed to make a sound. He looked around, panting heavily, and saw the knife.
He reached for it slowly and as soon as he got it, he started hitting the wall with it.
The noise was not loud enough, but he couldn’t put forth any more strength.
Seojin shoved his fingers through his hair. He was frustrated. Where was Dongwoo?
They were aware of the other people’s location and had their men restrain them, but in this burning building, they could not still find Dongwoo.
Was he not here after all?
No, they couldn’t give up yet. There were still places they hadn’t searched.
He took in a deep breath, ready to scream out Dongwoo’s name again when he started hearing a faint sound from a distance. It looked like there was a corner where a person could hide.
He didn’t waste time and hurried there. Seojun followed after him, wondering if he had caught on to something.
They rushed over there but when Seojin arrived there, the first thing he saw were the dead bodies on the floor. He slowly raised his head and his eyes widened in rage as he saw Shinwoo holding on to a trembling Dongwoo with a knife to his neck.
"Now, now, you don’t want it to end like this, do you?" Shinwoo asked, smirking as he had the upper hand, and Seojin’s eyes raged.
"Shinwoo, you bastard!" He yelled in anger. "Let go of Dongwoo right this instant."
