Chapter 364: Do you think he’s safe?
Two hours had passed since Dongwoo’s kidnapping. Everyone was restless, and the only one who could possibly have a clue as to where the car might’ve been driven was still unconscious.
Geumtae had yet to wake up, and they had searched the entire area, but there was still no good news.
Seojin was restless and Seojun was quite... Calm? No, he wasn’t calm. Deep inside he was cussing and screaming, blaming himself for what was going on. He was running mad but he was trying his best to keep a steady outward appearance.
Someone had to think rationally since the usually rational one among them had openly lost his mind to worry.
Their tech team had searched the entire area following that railway track, but unfortunately, there weren’t a lot of cameras in that area, and that road led to a lot of places.
This scheme had been carefully plotted.
"I’m going to wake him." Seojin suddenly said, standing to his feet after a series of continuous foot tapping, but Seojun held him back.
"You can’t." Seojun said. "He’s unconscious."
"I bet if I hit him a couple of times, he’ll come around." Seojin said but Seojun frowned at him.
They were seated outside his ward at the hospital. The two people who were inside were Eunwoo, his lover, and Jaeho, his brother.
Haejoo had been there for about thirty minutes before frowning at the current situation and walking away.
How on Earth did his brother get involved in this? He wondered.
He knew he was acquainted with Dongwoo, but going this far for him? Was there something he wasn’t aware of?
"Calm down, Lorenzo." Seojun said. "I know how you feel and believe me, I’m just as mad as you are. But we can’t force an unconscious person awake. It could damage him."
"Then..." Seojin furrowed his eyebrows sadly. Were they just supposed to stay silent and wait? What if he didn’t wake up for the next few days? What then?
He couldn’t take this. This restlessness and incompetence... He hated this.
Was this his fault after all?
Eunwoo watched Geumtae on his bed. His head had been wrapped because he was bleeding. The doctor also said he had a little concussion, so he had to rest.
Still, Eunwoo was worried. He held his hand and kissed it.
’Geuntae...’ he called out in his heart, glancing up with a sad expression. ’...do you still have strong feelings for Dongwoo?’
He couldn’t think of any other reason why he would take such a risk. He was so brave and fearless. He was... So reckless.
He cried. What if the kidnappers had decided to finish him off and shoot him instead of just knocking him unconscious?
What would he have done then? What would he do without Geumtae?
"Are you okay?" Jaeho asked and Eunwoo raised his face, revealing the tears streaming down his cheeks.
"Do you think he’s safe?" He asked but Jaeho shook his head.
"I don’t know. We can only hope for that at this point." He said and patted Eunwoo’s back. "Let’s hope for the better."
The police had already been informed of the kidnapping and were on the case but they couldn’t exactly be reliable.
So, they decided to plan out their strategy in the meantime. They were having the strategy meeting in Minwoo’s ward.
"So far, we have no idea who the kidnappers are or who they work for." Seojun said. "Allegra has testified for uncle that he has nothing to do with this since he’s busy day and night working on the company."
"So, who else would target Dongwoo?" Minwoo asked and then they all paused, a sudden realization hitting them.
Seojin’s face contorted as he gritted his teeth in rage.
"It’s that bitch, isn’t it?" He slammed.
"Calm down," Minwoo said. "Just think about it. We all know Song Haijin is more than capable of doing something like this but it’s too early."
"What do you mean?" Jaeho asked.
"Think about it. She was very confident her plan would work and she would be able to screw Seojin over since she believed the child was his, so she had no reason to hire people to get Dongwoo Hyung."
"But what if she already planned to kidnap him despite the results? She always wanted him out of the picture."
"Then she can’t be checked out of the suspect list. But if she didn’t, let’s think, who else is likely to want my Hyung?"
They went silent again, thinking. Aside from Alejandro and Song Haijin, there hadn’t been any threats from anyone.
Any... Threats?
At that moment, they thought back to Dongwoo’s mother, who had shamelessly cussed a commotion in the company about how she would get Dongwoo back at all costs.
"Is this ’their’ doing?" Seojun asked, his eyes cold as ice. "Minwoo?"
Minwoo was equally oblivious. He had no idea if it was them and if it was...
"I need to make a call." He said and Sungho handed him his phone.
"Wait, aren’t you just jumping to conclusions right now?" Eunwoo asked. "It could very much be Song Haijin. Why would your parents want to go so far as to kidnap their own son? They’re your parents, aren’t they?"
"Ah," Minwoo exclaimed. "You don’t... You don’t know those people. They will do anything and everything to get their hands on what they want." He slightly shivered and then exhaled. "I’ll make a call but I’m not calling them. If they’re, in fact, the ones behind the kidnapping, then I’ll only be ticking them off that we know of their plot."
"Then, who are you calling?"
"Someone reliable."
The ward door suddenly opened and Geumtae leaned on the frame, panting as cold sweat dripped down his face.
"Just how reliable?" He asked and Eunwoo rushed to him.
"You’re awake." He hugged him but also supported him.
"Did I make you worry?" He asked, smiling at Eunwoo, even though he was barely conscious.
He raised his head and looked at everyone in the room.
"Instead of doing that, let’s just check the tracker on Lily’s collar." He said, walking in with Eunwoo as his support.
"Lily? What does this cat have to do with this?" Seojin asked.
"Because the cat is hiding inside the car." He said. "And there is a tracker in his collar. We just have to...ngh," he held his head.
It still hurt.
"Careful," Eunwoo said and Seojun walked up to him.
He grabbed Geumtae’s arm, wrapped it around his neck, and lifted him to their surprise.
He placed Geumtae on the bed without much effort and folded his arms.
"Are you comfortable?" He asked and a quite confused Geumtae nodded. "Now, tell us, how do we track the tracker on the car’s collar?"
"I’ll need my laptop for that."
Back at the warehouse, Dongwoo managed to pick up a series of details as they held him outside to ease himself.
Rule number two of Seojun’s kidnapping lesson: Try to understand your surroundings and maybe you can use it as an advantage to escape.
Rule one was to not convince with words but with action. Then rule two followed after. Rule three was: Do not be scared to act recklessly. Recklessness could save you. That is if they aren’t armed with guns.
But from the looks of it... Dongwoo glanced at the waist of the man escorting him... They had guns.
’So, I can’t act recklessly, I guess.’ he thought and started looking around. His nose hitched up in the air. ’I smell a lot of gas. So, lots of things can go in flames with a single fire flick. No wonder no one’s smoking.’
"Hey, you better not be trying to try anything funny." The man escorting him said and Dongwoo nodded.
"What could I possibly do? My hands are tied, and my feet are chained. I’m your prisoner." He said which, for some reason, pleased the man escorting him so much that he grinned.
"Yes, that’s right. You’re my prisoner." He said, placing his hand around Dongwoo’s shoulder and Dongwoo flinched.
What was he doing?
"So, act well and I’ll try not to ruin that pretty face of yours."
Dongwoo suddenly had a bad feeling. Men with sinister intentions were everywhere, and he could tell just by the look on their faces and the tone of their voices.
This man... He was going to try something with him. He just knew it.
Knowing this, he gradually began to tremble, memories of past encounters haunting him.
He thought he had gotten over them, but all it took was a little trigger to remind him that with hands and legs tied, and an opponent far stronger than him, there was nothing he could do.
"Hey, what’s up with you all of a sudden? Are you trying to pull a trick?" The man asked but Dongwoo shook his head.
"N-no, I’m sorry. I think... I’m a little busy. Can we... Can we go back?"
If they ended up going to a quiet place with the excuse of emptying his bladder, this man would definitely use the opportunity to try something funny with him.
And with no one around... No. Even if they were around, it wasn’t like they would save him.
So, instead of being assaulted in a quiet place, he would rather be under Shinwoo’s disgusting gaze while he thought deeply about how to get out of there.
