Chapter 360: Is this true?
Chapter 360: Is this true?
They pressed their ears against the door, adamant about hearing the conversation going on inside the office.
The people eavesdropping were Yaeran, Jinwoo, Eunkyung, Doha, Eunwoo, and Dooshik.
Jaeho had gone with Taiha to check on a few things in the studio.
"Can you hear anything?" Doha whispered.
"No, can you?" Dooshik answered but Yaeran shook her head.
"Nothing."
"Are they even talking?"
"Let’s just stay quiet and listen." Eunkyung said and then after a few seconds of silence, someone walked up to them and said,
"Hm, this place seems rather lively."
"Shhhh!" They shushed him right away, only to hear him clear his throat, and finally, they looked up to see it was Haejoo. Their CEO.
Their eyes widened and they immediately bowed their heads.
"So sorry, we thought you were..."
"What’s going on here? And where are the troublemakers who want to bring my company down?"
"They... They’re inside having a conversation with Dongwoo Hyung." Dooshik answered, shutting his eyes tight in fear that he had disrespected the CEO.
"Oh? They’re inside?" He asked and they nodded.
They thought he would dismiss them and walk in with his authority as the CEO but to their surprise he actually squared there and said,
"Come on, tell me everything you hear. Don’t miss a single detail. I want to know how he scolds those brats for making such a commotion."
They were stunned. What was he doing? Was he really planning to...?
"Go on, or you might miss something." He urged them and they did so, but his presence still made them nervous.
"I... I think they’re talking now." Yaeran announced.
"Okay, good. Tell me. What are they saying?’
"Dongwoo Hyung is saying..."
Inside the office, Dongwoo had sat opposite the twins in silence. He tapped his feet, looking at their bruised faces in pity.
How could they even hurt each other when their bond as brothers was stronger than anyone could ever understand?
How could they even hurt the face they see when they look in the mirror? They’re very similar, if not identical.
Then, he decided to speak.
"You two... Who started the fight?" He asked and Seojun answered,
"I did." He said.
"Why?"
"I saw the news and went to Seojin. I asked him if he met with Song Haijin and if those pictures were real." He clenched his fists. "He said they were."
Dongwoo’s forehead creased and he turned to Seojin sharply.
"Is this true?"
Seojin nodded.
"Yes,"
"But the person in the pictures isn’t you, so how is this true?"
"What are you talking about, Hyung? Though the pictures outside the bar weren’t clear and didn’t show his face, the ones in the bar were clear enough for us to know he was the one with Song Haijin that night."
"Yes, he was in the bar with her but the guy who was with her, carrying her to the car, was not." Dongwoo said and turned to Seojin. "I’m right, aren’t I? That’s not you."
Seojin smiled and said,
"Hyung knows me so well that he can even tell if it’s me or not from a backview shot." He started laughing. "No one was able to see that it wasn’t me. Not even my brother. That’s why I love you so much, Hyung." His laugh was a bit maniacal and Seojun stared at him in confusion.
"What are you saying?" He asked. "Did you switch with someone in a blind spot?"
"Wow, now you get it." He said, ending his laughter. "Song Haijin and I met that evening. I didn’t plan it though. She came to me on her own and I humoured her. I was helping her drunk ass out when the driver I called for her arrived. We just so much happened to be in a blind spot and had the same kind of hair as me. It was dark so even our clothes seemed similar," he shrugged and rested his back on the couch. "And that’s where all these misunderstandings stem from. Song Haijin, drunk and out of her mind, made love to a driver in her car while thinking she was doing it with me. She’s carrying an unknown man’s child, not mine."
Dongwoo went silent. He was speechless, honestly. All of that just ’happened’ to be a coincidence but something told him it was far from a misunderstanding.
"Just hold on a bit, Hyung. There’s about to be a change in the news." He said and someone burst into the office.
"He’s telling the truth." It was Doha, her face beaming with excitement.
She had gotten a notification, since she was following the news very closely, and saw that a new set of pictures had been posted by someone anonymous.
There were pictures of Seojin sitting in a restaurant during the same time Song Haijin was getting it hot in the car. There were even fans who reposted the meal he had posted that evening.
And then there was the surveillance video of the bar. After Seojin had helped Song Haijin out, he came back shortly, ordered one more drink, and then left.
For some reason, there were even pics of him walking down the dark street. It might’ve been done by a stalker, but who cared? So long as there was evidence.
But the most impacting piece was the driver, who suddenly went live, confessing that he had been the one in the car with Song Haijin that night.
He just wanted to do with a celebrity even if she mistook him for someone else.
His hair and features were very similar to Seojin so he took advantage of it. He just never imagined she would keep the pregnancy since it looked like she was used to that sort of thing, given how loose her hole was.
In other words, he called her a whore who would open her legs for anyone and anytime if she wanted to.
His video was reposted so many times that he got millions of views in less than ten minutes of going live.
"So, you’re innocent,"
"And so is my company." Haejoo said, walking in majestically. "For a moment there, I was thinking about whether to sell you guys for the sake of my company’s losses, but it looks like it’s all good now. You fix the mess you make, I guess."
No one responded to him and instead, they were focused on Seojin. It was a well sort out plan. Very well sorted out, indeed.
"Why didn’t you say anything?" Seojun asked.
(See. I told you. If he had said something, said that it wasn’t him in the pictures, Seojun wouldn’t have hit him)
"You’re the one who was blind not to see that the person in the picture isn’t your brother." Seojin fearlessly said. "Besides, I thought I needed the beating for some reason, so I kept my mouth shut till Hyung came."
"Then why did you fight back?" Seojun asked in a growl and Seojin shrugged his shoulders.
"Wasn’t going to sit back and watch you disfigure my face with a knuckle brace. I use my face to earn a living, you know." He massaged his jaw. "And Hyung loves it."
"Bastard!" Seojun raged. "So you just let me beat you up, even though I could’ve destroyed your face?"
He was making him out to be the bad guy who didn’t check the facts before raising his fists. And now even Dongwoo was mad at him because he had hit Seojin and also used the knuckle brace he promised never to use again.
"Seojin, if you knew something like this was going to happen, you should’ve given us a heads up. What would you have done if I had believed right off the bat that you were the one in the news?"
Seojin’s face fell.
"I’d only have myself to blame."
"Why is that?"
"Because it would mean that I hadn’t shown you how much I love and adore you for you to still doubt my loyalty and love for you." He explained and Haejoo cleared his throat, announcing that he was still present.
Dongwoo could not even blush at his words. Not right now when such a thing had happened between them. He turned to Seojun, his eyes falling on the knuckle brace that had been put on the table.
"Seojun, I’m really disappointed right now." Dongwoo said and Seojun’s eyes widened.
They trembled and slowly fell.
"Hyung is... Disappointed in me." He muttered.
"You not only refused to check properly, you failed to recognize that the man in the picture wasn’t your brother, and then hurt him. You promised me you would never use those knuckle braces again, but you even carried it to work. You’re like a thug going around prepared for a fight. Just..." Dongwoo sighed in defeat. "I don’t know what else to say to you."
His words hurt Seojun’s heart a lot. How would he ever face his Hyung again?
"You two..." He pointed at them both. "I’ve heard what I came for, so I’m going to go back to the hospital. Come to me when you’ve both patched yourselves up and reconciled."
