Chapter 358: So, it’s true that villains do end up alone
"My brother is in this state because of you. Because of some sick amusement, you derive from torturing us and getting your way. My brother is..." His grip tightened but then it loosened. He released his shirt and turned away. "You have no right to see him. So just leave quickly. At least, you won’t do any more damage." Dongwoo said.
He was pained and hoped karma worked against Alejandro since they couldn’t do anything against him.
As he wiped his eyes with his sleeves, Seojin placed his hand on his shoulder.
"It’s okay, Hyung." He said. "And even if it isn’t now, it will be."
Just then, Sungho walked past them, got to Alejandro, and threw quite a weak punch across his face. Alejandro was more than capable of dodging it but he didn’t. Let’s say that was the price he decided to pay, even if it was little.
"Minwoo can’t hit you right now." Sungho said, clenching his fist. "So, I’ll hit you on his behalf." There was hatred in Sungho’s eyes. Hate that was fueled by so many things. Alejandro brushed the faint bruise next to his lip.
"Alright, I get it." He said. "Then I’ll head out now. This old guy won’t bother you anymore." But he did wish he could’ve seen Minwoo before leaving. His cherry scent still lingered at the tip of his nose but what to do? He already lost this time.
Alejandro returned to Italy and was arrested as soon as he stepped foot on their family property. Allegra was behind it, of course.
"You did a lot of bad things, do you accept?" Allegra asked Alejandro while he was behind bars but Alejandro stayed silent. He had no idea his sister had such a ’surprise’ waiting for him. It was very unexpected. Allegra took Alejandro’s silence as him not wanting to fight his charges. She sighed. Her brother grew up into what he is now because of their father.
He was the reason Alejandro went down this cold and dangerous path, and it was also because she had been so blind and stubborn that he ended up being sent to Korea. So, she was partly to blame.
"You’re not going to stay in there." She said and he sneered.
"Why not? I’m very sure scums like me deserve to rot." He looked at his hands. "I’m a dangerous man who will hurt everyone around him. I couldn’t even do one thing right and almost made an irreversible mistake." He dropped his hands. "Just let me rot."
"The fact that you know and acknowledge your mistakes says you’re not irremediable." Allegra said. "So, instead of rotting in here, you’re going to atone by doing good deeds. And by that, I mean you’re going to run the company with me. This is what you will do."
One couldn’t exactly call that a punishment or atonement. If anything, running the company meant he was going to have a high standing in society and he would gain wealth. Yes, that was true but that wasn’t all.
Alejandro would have to do the things he hated more than anything. He would dress formerly, attend meetings, do paperwork, and make sure to familiarize himself with the economy’s growth and downfall.
Allegra was going to make sure he passed through all that process, busied himself, and had no chance of creating trouble for anybody else.
A few days after that day, they got the news that Alfonso had committed suicide by jumping out of the window of his psychiatric ward.
Allegra didn’t know it would come to that, but she guessed he was far more guilty than anyone would know.
This news was spread out, and it sent flares since no one knew he had been sent to a psychiatric ward in the first place. People even accused it of being a conspiracy just to take over the company.
Allegra had a lot to handle but luckily, she wasn’t alone. Alejandro was keeping his word and staying next to her. Just as it was hell, it was also paradise for him, since he could be next to his sister, whom he cherished.
"Hey, you should really think of getting married." Allegra said while they managed the mountain of files in front of them and Alejandro sighed. She had been saying that line a lot.
"You’re the eldest." He said. "Once I see a man by your side, I’ll think about it." Alejandro said and Allegra laughed.
"Well, I have been married once." She said, taping the butt of her pen on her chin. "So, I’m out, don’t you think?"
"No, you can just do it again." Alejandro said. "I know you still like that guy. That Korean sissy." He scribbled on and then paused. "At least you still have a chance. So just take it."
He sounded like he no longer had a chance. Ah, he no longer had the chance to be with the one he fancied. The one who caught his interest and made him lose his mind to the point that he unintentionally broke them.
Allegra watched him as he began to scribble down on the documents again. She knew he was talking about Haejoo when he said that Korean sissy, but that aside, she felt bad for her brother.
’Someone has to continue the family line, I suppose.’ She thought and also started scribbling away. ’I can’t give birth anymore since I’m already at menopause, but if he gets married or even gets a female lover, she’ll be able to give birth to an heir for him.’
Allegra had no plans of running the family business for long. She was just going to be with Alejandro for the first part of it, help him solidify his position, and also ensure that there weren’t hidden conspiracies.
And after that... She stopped writing and turned her chair to take a long view of the outside world through their see-through walls... She could finally be free.
Alejandro stopped for a second, let out a sigh, and thought,
’So, it’s true that villains do end up alone. I see that now.’
Minwoo started recovering quite well, and while that was going on, Dongwoo was doing his best to take on both his and Minwoo’s job as the twin’s manager.
Taiha helped a lot, and since they weren’t as busy as the first time the twins started modeling, it was fairly easy to handle two people’s jobs.
Everyone was busy and supportive, making sure to visit Minwoo in the hospital and at the same time, were doing their best to cover up for their loss.
Now that Alejandro was gone, it was only fair that they relaxed their shoulders.
Dongwoo also got word from Miss Allegra that Alejandro wouldn’t be posing any threat to them now and in the future, so they had no reason to lift their shoulders with tension.
Yet, Dongwoo could not be happy.
Minwoo was still in bed. Though he had woken up and was quite lively, his legs were still quite damaged, and they would take a long time to heal.
"Cheer up, you sulking Hyung." Minwoo said, smiling cheerfully. "My legs don’t pose a big deal. I’m still working, aren’t I?"
"And you shouldn’t even be working to begin with." Dongwoo said, snatching the tablet from Minwoo. "You should wait till you’re fully recovered."
"Then what would you have me do while I’m bored all day? Watch cartoons?"
"As a matter of fact, yes." Dongwoo said with a straight face.
Minwoo burst out laughing and Dongwoo darted his eyes away. What was so wrong with watching cartoons? At least they wouldn’t get him depressed.
"Anyway, you should put on the TV and busy yourself with that." Dongwoo said, handing him back the tablet. "You’re a patient. I don’t know why they still let you work."
"It’s because I’m using my brain to work and not my leg. I’ll be fine." Minwoo said, switching it back on. "Oh, I heard I can be discharged next week. Isn’t that a good thing?" He smiled with his full teeth on display.
Dongwoo shook his head and sighed. Why was he so stubborn?
He was very sure that the first thing Minwoo planned to do after getting discharged was return to work.
"I’ll just turn on the TV." He said and picked up the remote.
"Hyung, you still go to therapy these days, right?" Minwoo asked and Dongwoo solemnly nodded his head.
Why wouldn’t he? How else would he cope with what was going on?
The twins were doing their best to cheer him up, and he was speaking to them about his feelings as well, but it just wasn’t as relieving as having his therapist speak about his condition and ways he could feel better and less guilty.
Just telling him, ’It’s not your fault,’ wouldn’t suffice much. So, he was speaking to a professional.
"Are you getting better?" Minwoo asked and Dongwoo smiled quite faintly.
"The results are as you see." He said and Minwoo lowered his head.
Dongwoo looked sad. One didn’t need to speak to him before feeling that energy around him.
While Dongwoo was putting on the TV, Sungho walked in.
"Huh?" Dongwoo stared at the TV. "Isn’t that...?"
"Oh, you’re here." Minwoo said, watching Sungho walk in. "Did you get the watermelon?"
"Yeah, I got it." Sungho said and took out the big watermelon from the bag he was carrying. "And, tadadadaa! It’s a big one too." He raised his head in pride, and Minwoo clapped his hands, feeling impressed.
"Whoa, I knew I could count on you."
"Hehe, this is nothing. I’ll cut it open for you." He said and turned to Dongwoo whose eyes were glued to the TV. "Dongwoo, would you like a watermelon?"
But Dongwoo stayed silent which was odd. Minwoo looked at the TV and his eyes widened. What the hell was that? Was that for real?
