Chapter 343: But it’s the truth
Chapter 343: But it’s the truth
Hospitality was something Dongwoo wished the twins could show, even if the guest they were facing was their mother who had neglected them.
But if she came all the way here to help them then it meant she still cared for them and had realized her mistake, right?
At least they still had a mother that would come back for them. He glanced at Minwoo who was looking away. They, on the other hand, had no hopes of that.
Seojun handed the cup of hot cocoa to Dongwoo but Dongwoo asked,
"Why did you make just one?" Seojun tilted his head, prompting Dongwoo to ask clearly, "Why didn’t you make something for the rest of them?"
Seojun glanced at Allegra who quickly shook her head, not minding the gesture at all.
"Oh, there’s no need." She said. "We originally had dinner before arriving at the hotel, so..."
Dongwoo nodded and turned to Minwoo who also refused, even before he was asked,
"Don’t worry about it. I’m fine." He forced out a smile before looking away, his initial worries taking over his expression.
Dongwoo pressed the mug to his lips, sipping slowly when he realized something,
"How did..." He lowered his hand, everyone turning their attention to him. "How did you know Minwoo and I were at the hotel?" He asked.
"Ah," Miss Allegra exclaimed and waited for someone else to answer. She didn’t want to get over herself.
"That doctor called us." Seojin said, approaching them. He had been in his room, making a call, and was just done. "He said you could be in trouble at that hotel and we knew our uncle was living in that hotel, so we..."
"Ah, Geumtae did that?" He asked and put down the mug. He reached for his phone in his pocket and called Geumtae’s number.
He had to thank him for this before he ended up forgetting, thanks to the overwhelming events.
It rang the first time but there was no response. He looked at the phone, wondering what Geumtae was doing that he wasn’t picking up.
Was he hitting things off with Eunwoo? He wondered and called once more.
"Are you calling him?" Seojin asked, leaning on the couch’s edge and Dongwoo nodded.
"Yeah, I was initially supposed to have dinner with him and Eunwoo but before the food came in, he caught sight of Minwoo entering the hotel." He said, glancing at Minwoo. "If not for him, I wouldn’t have known Minwoo was meeting up with your uncle." He swept his gaze away from him, lowering his head. "And he called you too. Thanks to your arrival, he was distracted and I was able to take the gun from him. So, I think I have a lot to thank him for."
"He sounds like a wonderful friend." Miss Allegra said and Dongwoo smiled.
"Yeah, he is."
"Then, if you want to thank him, I don’t think telling him over the phone will be sufficient. Why don’t you invite him for dinner sometime?" She suggested, and Seojun, as well as Seojin, shot their mother a tough and sharp gaze.
They did not appreciate her suggestion. They already hated it when Dongwoo spent time with him but now she wanted him to invite Geumtae to their home and have dinner with him?
That was the worst solution.
"Ah, since you are initially the reason why all this happened," Seojin began, folding his arms. "Why don’t you invite him for dinner instead?"
"Seojin," Dongwoo called, his voice in utter disbelief. How could he say that?
"But it’s the truth." Seojun supported Seojin’s words. "And she can invite his elder brother to dinner as well. I’m pretty sure it’ll be worth it." He grinned.
Dongwoo sighed and palmed his face. What was going on with these two?
It was a thank-you dinner, not a matchmaking. Why would she invite Haejoo? Did they want them to make up or something?
He glanced at Miss Allegra. She did not make any objections but she didn’t look too happy either. Dongwoo knew she didn’t know who Geumtae’s elder brother was, so that was not the reason for her discomfort.
Then... It had to be the way her sons were treating her.
Dongwoo knew he couldn’t force the twins to be warm with their mother. But maybe there was some way to do it. A way that she could make up with them. A way that they could give her a chance.
"I guess that’s a good idea." Dongwoo said and stopped the call from ringing the fourth time. "A dinner would be nice. But instead of just them, why not all of us? We can all go to dinner together."
"What?!" Seojun and Seojin exclaimed and Dongwoo secretly tittered. They left him no choice.
Whatever Geumtae was doing at the moment, he did not know but he hoped they got home safely. And Eunwoo... He hoped he wasn’t too awkward to start a conversation.
It would be good if they both got along. Even if it was just on a friendly basis. And after that, they could grow closer.
At that time, Dongwoo had no idea that Eunwoo and Geumtae had indeed gotten closer, but it was definitely not on a friendly basis.
While Geumtae’s phone rang, he could not concentrate on that. Rather, he fixed his gaze, and his attention on the little thing underneath him with a flushed face and a lustful appeal.
He reached his hand out, swiped the tears from his eyes and chuckled,
"You look so adorable," he muffled and the little thing, Eunwoo, watched Geumtae’s hungry expression. The expression that said he wanted to devour him whole.
He held Geumtae’s hand, closed his eyes, and wondered if he was dreaming again.
But why did it feel so vivid and real?
(Probably because it was. You two had one too many glasses to drink)
Dongwoo got up, fell the blanket, and took Minwoo’s hand.
"Hyung?" Minwoo called, looking up at him and wondering what he was doing.
"Come, it’s been a long night. So, come sleep at my place." Dongwoo said and though Minwoo wanted to refuse, he knew he couldn’t.
He nodded and stood to his feet.
"Will you be fine sleeping alone?" Seojin asked, expressing his concern, especially after what had happened.
"But I’m not sleeping alone." Dongwoo said, "Minwoo and I will sleep together."
"But..."
"And," Dongwoo interrupted him. "I want it to be just us. So, we’ll be alone, okay?"
Though disgruntled by the idea, the twins reluctantly agreed.
Allegra watched them and felt she had never really seen anyone tell them what to do. She didn’t know how her sons lived but she was sure they never listened to instructions as obediently as they were doing at the moment.
Guess Love had such a grip over their heads and hearts that it made them obedient to the one they loved.
At least, they found someone to love. She was glad for that fact.
"Miss Allegra," Dongwoo called and she snapped out of it, turning her gaze to him. "Would you like me to walk you out?"
"Ah, yes. But you don’t have to. I mean, I can find my way out." She said, politely declining the offer of this young man but he was adamant.
"Oh, but I insist." He said and though she had to glance at her sons first to see their reaction, nothing could be done about Dongwoo’s willing spirit.
She nodded and walked ahead.
"Alright."
Minwoo went ahead and entered Dongwoo’s apartment while Dongwoo walked Miss Allegra to the elevator.
"Um, it’s nice to meet you." Dongwoo began a little nervous as he was a bit awkward since this was the mother of the two guys he was dating.
"Nice to meet you, Lee Dongwoo." She said and stopped walking. "You’re such a nice guy." She suddenly added, and he stopped, too. "I’m glad those two have found someone whom they can cherish and love wholeheartedly. You know, they’ve always been alone growing up."
Dongwoo pursed his lips. Yeah, he knew they didn’t socialize much. They weren’t like the bunch.
"And also, thank you for what you did back there." Miss Allegra added, her gaze soft and quite worrisome. "I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to make up for the decisions I made in the past. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to make it up to them or if they’ll ever get to acknowledge me, but I appreciate that you’re putting in an effort for me."
"No, don’t say that." Dongwoo said, holding her hands. "I know you care. And because you do, I want them to feel it. They put up a wall because they’re stubborn but with persistence, I’m sure that the wall will break. You just have to... Take slow steps. How about... Start with an apology."
Miss Allegra’s eyes widened and she slowly lowered her head.
"Ah, of course." She said. "How could I have forgotten? The first thing I should do is apologize to them. I will do just that." She smiled, bringing out the beauty of a woman who didn’t look like she was in her forties at all.
"You look radiant when you smile, Miss Allegra." Dongwoo said. "So, please do not let your smile die. For them and for yourself." He smiled at her.
Just as she looked radiant with a smile, she could tell Lee Dongwoo looked even more radiant when he smiled with warmth and confidence in his blood.
He looked equally stunning and she could tell why her sons could never get over him, even after years of separation.
"Thank you, Lee Dongwoo. I will keep that in mind."
