Chapter 300: What books do you read?
Chapter 300: What books do you read?
(Hooray!!!!! We finally hit the 300 Mark. It’s been so long, you guys. And I’m very grateful to all those who followed me to this point. Glad you could see this Chapter with me and glad that you’re planning to stick around even more. Shall we get to Chapter 400 together?
Wait, will there be a 400th Chapter?
Well, that’s still not known. It’s undecided. And it will all depend on all the events that come up along the way, in the novel. But if we do end up hitting that mark, then I’ll be so glad if you follow me down there as well. Let’s end this novel together and finally see the happily ever after of all the characters who deserve nothing but love. May their love blossom. Hehe)
Dongwoo kept asking Minwoo if he was okay, and Minwoo kept responding that he was. He said,
"He didn’t do anything other than try to squeeze the daylight out of me." He sipped his wine and then dropped the glass, his gaze down as he worried for the worst. "But aside from that," he raised his head to look at the twins sitting opposite him, having Dongwoo in between them. His eyes became fierce as he asked, "...can you explain to me why your uncle was there at the mall? And looking for Dongwoo Hyung too?"
"You think we know that?" Seojun responded. "He had an agenda, that’s for sure. And if he was looking for Hyung then we can only guess it has something to do with us." He clenched his fist on the table.
"It was only about time before that guy took action," Seojin said, drawing Minwoo’s action.
"Who? Who’s taking action? And why is it about time?" He asked. "Are you guys doing dangerous things?"
"No, Minwoo," Dongwoo spoke up. "They’re talking about their grandfather."
Minwoo still didn’t get it.
Were they trying to say that their grandfather was the one who was trying to, maybe, like destroy their lives?
Just what in the world was going on?
Dongwoo looked at Seojin and Seojun with pursed lips. He couldn’t tell exactly what was going on and they wouldn’t go into details with him either.
All he could tell by their attitude and the way they froze up in front of their uncle was that this was an unexpected event, and the situation was quite dire.
"Will Hyung be alright?" Minwoo suddenly asked and they looked up at him. "Will your relationship with him put his life at risk?"
"Minwoo, it’s not that serious," Dongwoo said but Minwoo pushed his head closer to him from across the table and said in a tone that was very much a whisper,
"Hyung, that guy is suspicious and dangerous. He may work for the Mafia." He said but Dongwoo laughed it off.
"What books do you read? Do you think every Italian guy that seems dangerous works for the Mafia?" He laughed but to his shock, Seojin said,
"He does." He paused and looked at Seojun. Was he being serious? "But he doesn’t ’work’ for the mafia. Uncle is... A Mafia lord. He has his own district. His own people work under him and carry out his shady deals. He... Is very dangerous."
Dongwoo caught goosebumps. What in the world was going on?
"Are you being serious?" Dongwoo asked but Seojun couldn’t say more. He lowered his head and closed his eyes. There were memories associated with that ’family’.
As the term ’family’ implied, they were closely knit together. They live together and die together.
And just as they were close to one another, treasuring their members as well as their name, they did not go easy on any backstabber and definitely didn’t think twice before running a knife through the throat of anyone who disrespected them.
They were cruel. So cruel with their methods.
It was best to not offend them at all. And if that mistake was made, hang yourself before you get caught.
Because once you do... You’d wish for death more than anything in the world.
"Hyung," Seojin called, "...just as our uncle is a very dangerous man who would go through any length to get what he wants, he’s not a free bird either as the person he loves more than anything is currently under our grandfather’s control."
"Is that..."
"Yes, it’s that woman." Seojun muttered.
’So, he’s doing this because of his sister?’
Sungho was a bit lost but he felt he was hearing things that he shouldn’t be hearing.
He looked down at Minwoo. They were still holding hands under the table and Minwoo had not let go of him since then.
Since they said that guy was so dangerous then that meant Minwoo had been in danger at that time, right?
And all he could do was stare in shock, with the feeling that Minwoo was hugging another man and cheat- No, there was no such thing as cheating when they were merely fuck buddies.
But he was glad that the hug wasn’t mutual and that Minwoo was forced to stay in his arms.
He felt his heart shatter then for some reason but he hoped it wouldn’t happen again.
"If your uncle follows your grandfather’s orders because of Miss Allegra, then why doesn’t he just take her away?" Dongwoo asked.
"Because he values her opinion." Seojin said. "He won’t take her away if she doesn’t want to."
Seojun banged his fist on the table.
"And that foolish woman won’t even decide for herself. She decides to stay with her father and listen to his every word, even when it’s clear that he doesn’t care about her. How dumb can a person be?"
He was fuming.
And now, Dongwoo could tell they didn’t hate their mother just because she abandoned them, but because she still couldn’t open her eyes and see for herself. She couldn’t decide on her own and was doing things that were hurting her own children without even knowing it.
And now, she successfully found another way to hurt her children without lifting a finger.
If she just left her father’s clutches, their uncle wouldn’t need to carry out whatever orders he was given.
Dongwoo thought for a while and came up with a conclusion,
"Then," he looked up at them. "...at this point, don’t you think it’s high time you called her? Call Miss Allegra, your mother."
