Chapter 229: Yes, she always acted proud and arrogant
"You wrote your address?" Dongwoo asked but instead of answering, Geumtae stared at the smile that finally played on his lips.
He looked pretty when he cried but he was even prettier when he smiled.
"Yes." He answered, smiling softly. "Yes, I did. It’s the cat you handed in my care," he rubbed the back of his neck. "... So I needed to make sure I didn’t lose her in any circumstances. I’m not a careless person, but things happen, so I made sure to be extra careful."
Dongwoo smiled and snuggled on Lily, who had become obedient, but that proud and arrogant expression on her face was still the same.
"Thank you." He said. "So, can I take her with me now?"
"No!" Geumtae answered right away. "I told you, I’m still recovering from being rejected so I’m using Lily to keep me company."
"But..."
"No buts, sweetie, you already agreed to this before." Geumtae said. "Besides, I’m helping you two a lot by doing this. I’m sure those hounds of yours hate the sight of little Lily."
Dongwoo’s eyebrows shifted up.
"Hounds?" He asked but Geumtae acted like he didn’t hear anything and continued speaking.
"Who knows? She might just get hit by a car out of nowhere when you’re both on a walk because she’s taking too much of your time. You have some jealous hounds around you." He explained.
"Wait, no one’s going to run Lily over out of nowhere and why did you start calling the twins hounds? I thought we discussed this." Dongwoo said, but Geumtae shook his head.
"No, we discussed calling them mutts. Hounds is something I just came up with and it suits them very well." He explained but Dongwoo shook his head.
He was fed up with trying to get him to call the twins like ordinary people would.
"Then, what was that about Lily getting hit by a car because she’s taking too much of my time?" Dongwoo asked and Geumtae scoffed.
"Hello, have you met your own lovers? They absolutely hate Lily. If you still haven’t noticed, then you’re far more blinded than I thought, sweetie." He pointed out and Dongwoo darted his eyes aside.
He couldn’t say he hadn’t noticed.
The twin’s attitude towards Lily was as clear as day.
He looked down at his cat, who stayed comfortable on his thighs. He missed her. He just wanted to snuggle on her for a long time, feel her soft fur over his skin, and, in the mornings, wake up to see her snoozing away next to his head.
Yes, she always acted proud and arrogant, taking care of her own needs before casting him a glance, but he could not overlook the fact that she liked to sleep next to him when he was at him.
Maybe that was her way of comforting him. The only way she felt she could help him.
The rest... He had to take care of them on his own.
"Then, it seems I’ll trouble you a lot longer." Dongwoo said, smiling softly as he gazed down at Lily, stroking her fur softly and enjoying her slow yet silent reaction.
"It’s no trouble on my side." Geumtae answered. "So, don’t worry about it." He dropped his hand on Dongwoo’s head.
Just then, the door opened, and Geumtae turned his head with a smile, thinking it was a customer, but as soon as he saw who it was, his face dropped, and he exclaimed.
"Ah."
"Get your hands off." Dongwoo heard Seojun’s voice and raised his head.
"Seojun?" Dongwoo called and it really was him. He had a hat on, big framed glasses as well as a nose mask.
He was basically covering his entire face but for those who knew him for quite a while, they would be able to tell right away that it was him.
Like Dongwoo for example.
Even Geumtae was able to recognize it was one of the twins, though he wasn’t very good with differentiating which was which yet.
"What... what are you doing here?" Dongwoo asked as Geumtae took his hand off Dongwoo’s head. He didn’t want trouble. "Wait, how did you know I was here? I didn’t write that in the note."
"It was a hunch." Seojun said, his gaze falling to the ground.
Of course, he wasn’t going to reveal the truth that he had a tracking app installed and hidden on Dongwoo’s phone. He didn’t do it with malicious intentions and though it may be wrong, he didn’t want a situation where he wouldn’t be able to get in touch with Dongwoo and wouldn’t know where he was either.
It would only make him restless and anxious, so he thought it was the best idea.
Yet, he didn’t know he’d have to use the app so soon.
As soon as he got home, he found Dongwoo’s note. He thought maybe he had gone down for a coffee just as he said, but an hour had passed, and he still wasn’t back. He got worried and went down to check all the coffee shops in the area but he wasn’t there.
He used the tracking app just in case, only to spot his location at Geumtae’s veterinary clinic.
He got pissed for a moment but then was relieved. At least he was safe.
"I thought you went down to her coffee, Hyung. Why didn’t you write that you were going to see that cat?" He asked. His tone had a clear irritation as he stared at the cat.
"Well, I did go out to have coffee." Dongwoo answered, darting his eyes aside in guilt. "But since I was free, I decided to come see Lily as well."
"Then you could’ve answered your calls at least." Seojun pointed out.
"Calls?" Dongwoo took out this phone, and to his shock, he had over twenty missed calls, and they were all from Seojun. "Ah!"
"Hyung, don’t worry me like that." Seojun said,
"I must’ve put my phone on silent by accident. I’m sorry for worrying you." He said but that simple word wasn’t going to ease Seojun’s worry so easily.
"Let’s go home." He said, taking Dongwoo’s hand.
"Oh, alright." Dongwoo said and handed Lily to Geumtae. "Thank you for your help, once more." He lightly bowed.
"No problem." Dongwoo answered, smiling as he waved at him. "And Sweetie, don’t forget what I said to you."
"What you..." He recalled Geumtae asking him to tell the twins about his apartment lover.
He pursed his lips.
"Alright, I... I’ll think about it." He said, and Geumtae shook his head.
He felt Dongwoo wouldn’t tell them. If he didn’t and he got hurt because of whoever that was, he would only come to regret it later.
"Well, that’s left for them to figure out, right? Let’s not worry about lovebirds. They can think of something."
