Chapter 175: He didn’t cry because of the water, but the memory that it carried
Dongwoo fell asleep on their way to the hotel. He was exhausted or to say, drained.
He dropped his head on Seojin’s head and nuzzled away.
Seojin did not show it but he was incredibly pissed. To think such a thing would happen just because he left Dongwoo to himself for a while.
"Dammit! This shouldn’t have happened." Seojun cussed out. He, on the other hand, could not hide how pissed he was.
They got to the hotel room with Seojun carrying Dongwoo on his back.
They took off his wet clothes and laid him on their bed naked.
"How did this happen?" Seojin finally questioned, clenching his fists tightly. His veins crawled up his arms, and his neck.
He was so mad that he could punch the wall but he contained it, only gritting his teeth and clenching his fists.
"I’d like to know the same thing." Seojun said. "One moment, someone announces that someone fell into the pool, and another, I see that bastard being pulled out of the water and saying Hyung was in there."
"So, they both fell in." Seojin said through his gritted teeth. Then, he let out a sigh to calm himself and shoved his fingers through his hair that had been so perfectly styled. "They didn’t get pushed?"
"We’ll have to ask Hyung about that." Seojun said. "God help me that I don’t kill a bastard tonight."
"I might just second you on that." Seojin said.
They both looked terrifying. They had dangerous thoughts for whoever was responsible for putting Dongwoo in such a state.
He couldn’t swim. His records showed he never went close to the sea or a swimming pool so they knew that for a fact that if he had stayed in that water a little longer, he would’ve drowned.
Dongwoo furrowed his eyebrows in his sleep, putting them off their dangerous thoughts and immediately switching to their caring side.
"Hyung, are you okay?" Seojin called and Dongwoo finally opened his eyes, only to find himself naked.
"Where did my clothes go?" He asked but they did not respond and stared at him with worry. "What?"
He sat up, but his head ached, and he had to press his hand against it to feel a little better.
"Why does my head hurt?" He wondered out loud and then Seojun asked,
"Hyung, were you scared?"
Dongwoo went silent. Was he scared?
He thought back to how he felt once he fell into the water. It wasn’t fear he felt. Rather, the water gave a tranquil feeling.
What he was actually scared of was the memory he recalled.
The person holding on to him at the edge of the cliff and the little brother he so much wanted to protect. The little brother who had been so reckless ended up causing his brother to fall off a cliff.
How was he? Did he love with guilt? Did he hate himself?
Now, he couldn’t help but think of how Minwoo had been feeling as he grew, knowing he might’ve been the reason for his brother’s death.
But it seemed like he never lost faith and kept searching for him. He never gave up. How commendable?!
Dongwoo could remember the feeling of that time so clearly like the light of day. He had been so hopeless and weak that he was sure he was going to die, so he started talking to stop himself from thinking about his own death.
He talked about a dream he never thought would come true, so he wished for it in his next life. He wished to take pictures.
’Minwoo.’ he thought and covered his face, his eyes growing teary again. ’So, you were telling the truth.’
"Hyung," Seojin called and Dongwoo removed his hands from his face, showing his gradually falling tears. He bit his lip, having a painful expression on his face, and hugged him. "I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I’m so sorry, Hyung."
Dongwoo cried. Not because he was scared of the water, but it was the memories that the water carried.
The painful memories he never thought he had.
"Hyung, did you see who it was?" Seojun suddenly asked, and Dongwoo opened his eyes.
"Who?"
"The person who pushed you." He asked and Dongwoo broke out of the hug. He cleaned the tears off his cheeks with his arm but Seojin stopped him and cleaned it with his sleeve instead.
"Don’t hurt your eyes." He said.
There was sadness in his eyes and he couldn’t even force himself to smile.
"No one pushed me." Dongwoo answered. "How’s Minwoo doing?" He asked. "I ended up pulling him with me while I was falling. He tried to help but only ended up..." He shook his head. "It was my fault this time."
"Hyung, are you sure you didn’t fall because of the manager?" Seojin suddenly asked with hate in his eyes.
"No." Dongwoo answered right away. "We were talking by the pool and then I slipped. I was about to fall when he caught my arm, but he also slipped, and we both fell into the pool." He sniffed. "That’s really what happened. He didn’t push me."
The twins went silent. They wanted to blame this incident on someone but there was no one. Thus, they could only blame it on themselves.
They blamed it on themselves for not looking out for him. They shouldn’t have entertained those people who were nothing but a hindrance in their desire to protect Dongwoo.
Dongwoo placed his hand on Seojin’s cheek and he raised his gaze to meet his.
"Hyung,"
"You’re blaming yourself again, aren’t you?" He asked but he could only lower his gaze once more.
Dongwoo turned to Seojun who equally had that guilty expression on.
These two... They didn’t need to do this to themselves. He sighed.
"If you keep blaming yourself, I’ll have no choice but to blame myself as well." He said and they both raised their heads in shock. "I just can’t take care of myself and have to rely on you two. It’s making me careless and thus, this incident happened."
"It’s not your fault, Hyung." They both chorused.
"And it wasn’t yours either." Dongwoo said. "You don’t have to blame yourself for every single thing that happens to me. I’m a person of my own, too; I make mistakes and take wrong steps. It’s not fair that you two have to be blamed for my own mistakes and wrong steps. It... Actually hurts my heart knowing that’s how you two feel."
"But..." Seojun bit his lip. "We’re supposed to protect you."
"You’re my lovers, not my bodyguards." He said and got up. "Don’t get the two mixed up. When you’re with me, I know you won’t let anything harm me but when you’re not, you shouldn’t blame yourself for anything that happens to me then. I’m not a kid."
They both went silent and Dongwoo sighed. Were they still thinking about it? Couldn’t they just nod their heads at it and be good boys?
"It’s inevitable and can’t be helped if I get hurt in your absence, so don’t blame yourself." Dongwoo said.
This was not what they wanted. They wanted to be responsible for everything Dongwoo did, but it was true; they couldn’t be next to him at all times, and some situations just couldn’t be helped.
Yet, knowing that made them want to stick to him more so that the inevitable incidents don’t have to occur.
"We understand, Hyung." Seojun said and finally managed to smile.
Seojin smiled as well but something about that smile felt out of place.
Just what were they cooking up in their minds?
"Since that’s settled, I’ll go take a bath." Dongwoo said.
"We’ll come too, Hyung." Seojun said and Dongwoo nodded.
Whatever they were thinking, it had his best interest at heart, but why couldn’t he shake off that warning feeling he was getting?
’Hah! I must be overthinking again.’
Meanwhile, Sungho and Minwoo arrived at the hotel.
Minwoo had suddenly fallen asleep so Sungho carried him to his room. It was kinda risky but he decided to throw those bizarre thoughts out into the trash and just help Minwoo.
Dongwoo also fell in the pool so the twins were probably taking care of him.
’I’m only doing this because I’m a good person.’ Sungho thought. ’With a good heart. Nothing more.’
He laid Minwoo on the bed and stared at him sleeping so carelessly on the bed.
"I should probably take off his clothes, right?"
