Chapter 148: It’s pretty. I wish Minwoo could see something as pretty as this
Dongwoo was smart. Too smart for his own good, in fact.
He knew that it wasn’t going to be alright as he said. Rather, one of them had to die that night.
’Was it predestined?’ he thought. ’The teacher talked about destiny last time. She said,’ he closed his eyes. ’Everything that happens is set in stone and no one can easily change it. It’s destiny. I didn’t know what it meant and thought she was just blabbing some grown-up stuff, but now I get it. I was destined to fall off the cliff this time.’
He opened his eyes and smiled.
"Owen, my brother needs treatment. Please, take him back and also get treated." His eyes teared up through his smile. "I don’t want you to die."
"No one’s dying, young master. We’ll scale through this together."
How long had it been? Dongwoo could not tell but it felt like he had been hanging off that cliff for quite a while.
He was just four years old but was already seeing death in the flesh.
’This is probably the price for being the smartest kid.’ he thought. ’If only I wasn’t so smart. I want to live like everyone else too. I... Don’t want to be exceptional.’ he thought and cried. ’In my next life, I want to be a simple photographer. I want... To be seen for me, please.’ he made a desperate wish and then the sun started rising.
From the deep horizons, the sun basked the sky red and Dongwoo watched it, deeply memorized.
"Owen, Owen." Dongwoo called. "I wish to take a picture of the sunrise. No, I want to take pictures of beautiful things. Can I do it?"
"I’m sure you’ll succeed in anything you put your mind into, Young master. You’re exceptional."
Dongwoo heard this and smiled.
"Then, I better start a camera collection. Huh?"
Minwoo, lying on the floor with his head bleeding from the impact of the rock on the ground, was mind-conscious of his surroundings, hearing all that was going on and his brother’s words, but he could not open his eyes.
He heard his brother’s voice clearly, as well as that of the butlers, but he couldn’t open his eyes or his mouth.
’Hyung, Hyung. I want to see Hyung. Owen.’ he cried with tears rolling down his closed eyes. ’I want to see Hyung.’
Then, Dongwoo got tired. He got tired of hanging on for so long. His arm had gone numb and so were his legs.
’It’s futile, in the end.’ he thought and saw the crack in the cliff. It was only a matter of time before it broke but he didn’t want Owen to die.
If Owen could at least survive, he would be able to take Minwoo to get treatment fast and neither of them would die.
He... Didn’t want to die too but the cliff was cracking.
"Owen, Owen," he called one more time. "You’re a good guy."
"Young master?"
Before he knew it, Dongwoo gave Owen’s numb arm a little push and fell. His head hit a rock on his way down so even if he wanted to swim, he couldn’t because he lost all sense and sunk deep into the sea.
His eyes gazed at the water as it engulfed him, unable to move any part of his body and he thought,
’It’s pretty. I wish Minwoo could see something as beautiful as this.’ he closed his eyes.
"Young master!" Owen yelled, his eyes finally swelling up in tears. "I’m sorry I was incompetent. I am sorry. Please come back, young master."
The venom coursed through his body so that he couldn’t even beat the ground.
But, if he did that, then the cliff would break and Dongwoo’s sacrifice would be in vain.
He quickly and carefully got on his feet.
With his good hand, and while he still had a little life left, he carried Minwoo and ran back to the villa.
He was already giving out, his body, rotting from the poison.
But luckily, he was able to get to the villa before collapsing.
The guards, who had no idea what had been going on, were beyond shocked.
Owen, before giving up, pointed towards the cliff and gave out the words,
"Save Young master. Over ...the cliff... Save..."
He died from there and could never give an account of what happened.
Minwoo was able to open his eyes after two days, crying loudly like a child would when they lost their most precious person.
He could not say a word as to what happened. He was shaken and frightened.
He caused it. It was his stubbornness that caused his brother to fall off the cliff.
But he never believed he was dead. There was no body and no sightings of his brother so he believed he was still alive.
"My brother is the strongest person in the world. He wouldn’t die without a trace." He once yelled. "Find my brother. Find him so I can apologize."
But they never found him.
Minwoo vowed to find him where he may be in the world and worked hard.
He no longer caused mischief and focused on being a good kid, the kind his brother believed he was.
But just being a good kid could not erase the years of heartache his parents felt. Just being a good kid did not erase his sin.
He needed his brother back, and sometimes, his hand would suddenly start shaking, unable to do anything as nightmarish images of his brother appeared in his head, blaming him for being so stubborn and causing so much trouble... And causing what happened at the cliff.
"I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Hyung. I’m sorry." He screamed and cried.
He had a condition but he did not once go to therapy, claiming he was alright.
Instead, he sought out other means to make him feel better and clear his mind. And that was when he discovered he was gay and derived pleasure from sleeping around.
If he wanted to clear his mind and get rid of the stress, all he had to do was find a man, grab him, and strip him. No one would deny themselves a free hole, right?
Well, he lived like that and did not hate that side of himself. Because when he was like that, he felt he could be himself and not worry about his sin choking his throat.
But the day was yet to come when word would spread out that Lee Minwoo was a manwhore who went around giving his hole to anyone with a third leg.
But until then, he would keep his professional image up and try his possible best to please his Hyung.
Day by day, he was fighting his anxiety but keeping up a very professional front, an image he hoped his brother would be proud to see once they reunited.
Even when it felt like forever, he could still feel the pain of losing him to his childish whim freshly cut in his heart and mind. With memories of the past, he wished he could never feel the pain again.
So, when he found out Dongwoo was actually alive and well. He couldn’t express how thankful he was and his heart leapt for joy.
He had done everything possible but none of it was able to give him such joy. In the end, finding his brother was the only way. And bringing him back home would be the only way to atone for his sin.
And he hoped to do it, bring him home, with that image in mind, but his Hyung ended up finding out he was a cock-seeking manwhore, courtesy of his own self. He admitted it with his mouth that he liked whoring himself around.
Minwoo rested on the edge of the rooftop.
The breeze was harsh indeed and if he stayed up any longer, he would definitely catch a cold.
"Hah!" He let out a sigh and brushed his hair out of his face. "Even if he doesn’t remember, Hyung got to do what he wanted. Take pictures of beautiful things." He muttered and laughed. "I wish I was like you. I really wish so, Hyung."
He took off his glasses and cleaned his eyes.
"What do I do, Hyung?" He sniffed. "You’re right in front of me but I miss you so much."
