Chapter 118: Excited for a horror movie

"Hisss." I hissed as the spice from the pasta stung my torn mouth.

"Oh no, Hyung, are you okay?" Seojin asked worriedly. "I didn’t add a lot of spice because I knew your mouth was torn. Does it sting a lot?"

I already applied ointment on it so there was nothing else I could use to ease it.

"No, no. I’m fine." I said. "It just took me by surprise. I usually eat spicy food and compared to that, this is tasteless." I had good intentions when saying that but I immediately felt I had made an insensitive remark and changed my words. "Oh, I don’t mean your food is tasteless. I meant..."

"I know what you mean, Hyung." Seojin said and stared at my mouth. "More importantly, how are you going to eat if your mouth is like this? I’m worried."

"I just have to eat something that has no pepper." I said, smiling nervously. Was there any food cooked with pepper?

I looked at Seojun who stared at us silently. He was the one who thrust roughly inside my mouth so he felt guilty.

At least, that’s what his expression said.

I wanted to tell him not to worry and that I’d be fine but it looked like just saying that wouldn’t stop them from worrying.

"Then, Hyung, will you be satisfied with snacks?" Seojin asked and I nodded.

"Oh, that reminds me. You still have the rest of the cake stored up in the fridge, right? I can just eat that."

Seojin brought out the cake while Seojun and I waited in the living room.

"How about watching a movie as well?" Seojun suggested.

"A movie?" I asked and he smiled.

"It’s a great distraction." He said and went to turn on the TV.

Seojin dropped the cake in front of me and sat down next to me.

"Here’s the cake, Hyung. Eat up."

"Thank you." I said and picked it up.

Seojin looked at the big-screen television in front of us. He looked back at me as I slowly stuffed my face with the delicious and cold cake.

Gosh, chocolate cake tastes better when it’s cold and then it melts in the mouth, giving a satisfied feeling.

"You want to watch a movie, Hyung?" He asked and I snapped out of my trance. I quickly nodded and said,

"Seojun said it’s a good distraction. What does that mean?" I asked, but he simply smiled at me, and then, he repeated the words I had said.

"It’s a good distraction." He faced the television. "But I don’t know who it’ll actually distract."

I was confused. What sort of distraction were they talking about? And from what?

The lights went off, leaving just the TV’s light to reflect on the entire living room.

"Watching a movie in the dark is the best experience." Seojin said.

I was starting to get anxious for some reason.

They were acting normal and smiling normally but their words and the situation made me believe they had something in mind.

’Oh no.’ I stuck the fork in my mouth. ’They don’t plan to do ’that’ again, do they?’

With that thought in mind, I started watching each action of theirs. My eyes followed their hands and their movements, and I was uneasy, feelimg they would do something at any moment when I least expected it.

"Are you okay, Hyung? The movie’s about to start."

I looked at Seojin’s face. He didn’t look like he was hatching any devious plan and Seojun too. They were both genuinely worried about me but I was suspecting them unnecessarily.

"I’m okay." I said and oursed my lips.

It was dark, and the only light we had was from the television, but I could still see their faces clearly. Probably because the contrast of the television was high.

"Um, Hyung?" Seojin called. "Are you perhaps acting like this because...?"

I gulped. Did he figure out I was suspecting them? I needed to come up with an explanation right away.

But his words were completely different from what I was thinking.

"... you’re scared of scary movies?" He asked, and I blinked twice.

I looked at Seojun.

"Did you... Did you put on a scary movie?" I asked and he nodded.

"Are you scared of scary movies, Hyung?" Seojun asked but I shook my head.

"No, not really. I mean, I’ve never really seen a scary movie, but I don’t think I would be scared of it since I know it’s all fake." I explained, like a fool.

"So, that wasn’t it, huh?" Seojin said and I flinched.

Damn, I should’ve used that as an excuse.

"Seojin, don’t overthink it." I said, smiling awkwardly. "I was just anticipating, that’s all. Let’s watch the movie."

He looked at me for a while, probably wondering why I used the word anticipating and I also wondered about that. I could’ve said something else, yet I went to say something that would make him think deeply about my actions.

"Seojun, please start the movie." I said. "I’ve been anticipating a horror movie for a long time but never really had the conviction to watch it. I’m glad I’ll be able to watch it with you guys."

"So, we’re your first in this as well." Seojun muttered and secretly glanced at me. "That’s nice to hear."

I didn’t respond and paid keen attention to the opening of the movie.

"Well, since it’s your first time, Hyung, if you happen to get scared, you can jump into my arms." He said, stretching his arms wide. "I’ll hold you."

"Yeah, thanks."

I got excited. Excited at the fact that I was watching a movie with the twins, that is.

It was like that popular phrase I used to hear a lot. ’Movie night with your friends’.

Though we were past the stage of being ’just friends, ’ we were still having moving nights.

I wondered how it would unfold and maybe we could do a few things after the movie ended. Maybe play games.

At the thought of that, I shook my head.

No. No games. That would lead to an unwanted situation.

"Hyung, you might want to finish your cake if you want to watch a horror movie." Seojun said, pausing the movie at the intro.

"Is it that scary?" I asked as I gullibly ate the cake, and Seojun looked aside as if calculating.

"By our standards, I’d say it’s not that scary." Seojin said. "But for Hyung, since you’re a beginner, it might be a bit much."

I was still not sure if their worries would mean anything. Who knows, I might just be an expert at watching horror movies.

They watched me much on the cake, bit by bit, and carefully too, so I could avoid a situation that would lead them to ’wipe’ my lips with their own lips till I was done.

"I’m all done." I announced and Seojin smiled, satisfied.

"That’s good." He said.

And Seojun stared at me with his eyes fixed on my lips.

"Don’t... Don’t even think aboht it." I said and he chuckled.

"Don’t worry, I won’t." He said. "But I’ll stare. You won’t stop me from staring, will you?"

Seojin returned and Seojun played the movie.

"By the way, what’s the name of the movie?" I asked.

"Chainsaw!"

Well, that was okay. Maybe it was just about chainsaws.

But I thought wrong, and the first scene that played had me gagging at the cake I had eaten.

I felt nauseous right away and ran to the toilet to throw up.
