Chapter 84: Proper Introductions
Chapter 84: Proper Introductions
Helena eventually managed to get her mother to calm down, and as hard as she tried, she couldn’t drive out the Sunfire City Alphas.
They’d declared themselves to be her family in Sunfire City and had decided that they were going to stay.
"Mom, have you been introduced?" Helena asked as she pointed at the five men who were surrounding Ronan as he slept in his crib.
"To my Grandson, not by his mom," Alyssa grumbled.
"He’s asleep," Helena sighed. "Later."
Alyssa glared at her daughter but still answered Helena’s question.
"No, I haven’t been formally introduced," Alyssa told Helena.
"Youngest to eldest, shall we," Helena grinned as she gestured for Jonathan to step forward.
"Mom, this is Jonathan Hellfire, Alpha of the Hellfire Pack and the last of the Hellfire Alphas," Helena said with her tone becoming grim at the mention of the fate of his family.
"I heard of what happened to your grandfather and father," Alyssa said as she pulled the young man into a hug. "My Vincent, Helena’s father, was friends with him, he used to visit Stonehill with your mother quite often."
Jonathan looked like he was about to tear up, but he held his tears back.
"Thank you, Luna," Jonathan said.
"Please, Luna is Helena now, just call me Alyssa," her mother said with a wink before letting Jonathan go.
"It’s is an honor to meet you, Alyssa," Jonathan said as he used her name.
"Oh, what a handsome young man," Alyssa said, grinning.
Helena shook her head as she waved over another Alpha.
"This is Aaron Suncrest," Helena said as she introduced one of the more quiet Sunfire Alphas.
"We’ve met, Alyssa," Aaron said as he offered his hand to shake, but Alyssa pulled him into a hug.
"Yes, you came to our pack and brought us news of our Helena," Alyssa said. "I thank you for that."
"She is family even before we learned of her relation to Grandmama Dora," Aaron said.
Helena shook her head as Aaron returned to Ronan’s side and watched the sleeping child.
"And this is Caleb Firelake," Helena said pointing to the most boisterous and charismatic of the five.
"Oh, he’s the one that kept us entertained the whole time," Alyssa chuckled.
"I’m happy to have kept you entertained, Alyssa, welcome to Sunfire City," Caleb said with a wink.
"She’s mated," Rae grumbled as she crossed her arms on her chest only to be teased by Rebecca who sat next to her.
"I know, Rae," Caleb chuckled.
"He is entertaining, Rae," Alyssa said, grinning at her stepdaughter.
Caleb winked at Rae’s direction before backing down.
"Now, for the most brooding of Alphas," Helena teased, making the oldest-looking Sunfire Alpha roll his eyes at her, to which Helena only giggled. "Gavin Firefang."
"The Luna and her mate, your father, were there during my Alpha rite," Gavin said with a nod. "I was young, but I was honored to have such esteemed guests."
"You’ve proven to be a good Alpha," Alyssa said. "I’m glad that my daughter had you and your brothers to lean on while she was here."
"She’s quite an impressive young woman," Gavin said, giving Helena a nod.
He then turned to look at Ronan and smiled.
"Her son seems to be shaping up to be an even more impressive child though," Gavin commented.
"He will be," Helena said fully confident in her sleeping son. "But I want him to have a peaceful life."
Gavin smiled as he looked at Ronan.
"And finally," Helena said as she dragged Victor closer. "Victor Sunstrike, Leader of the Sunfire Alphas—"
"We don’t have a leader," Victor grumbled.
"There has always been a leader," Alyssa pointed out. "You just say there isn’t one."
The four other Alphas laughed and shook their heads.
It was an illusion that they presented to the world that all five Alphas were equal.
There was always one who led the group, one who spoke for the group, and one who led their armies.
"Fine," Victor sighed as he gave up.
"He’s also Grandmama Dora’s stepgrandson," Helena explained. "He took me to see her today."
"And you’re the Alpha that’s rumored to be mated to Rae," Alyssa teased.
"Luna— Alyssa— I didn’t— I never—" Victor stumbled as he tried to come up with an excuse for what had happened.
Alyssa simply laughed and shook her head.
"I know now that you were helping my daughters and my grandson," she told Victor with a smile. "Thank you for helping them."
Victor smiled and nodded.
"I guess you’re really family now," Alyssa chuckled.
"We all are," Caleb said as he smiled at the older woman.
"And Alphas, this is my younger sister, Rebecca," Helena said as she pulled Rebecca to stand.
The young girl smiled and blushed, making Rae and Helena giggle.
"She’s too young for that," Alyssa scolded.
"Too young for what?" Jonathan asked as he looked between the women.
"I think Rebecca is crushing on one of us," Helena heard Caleb whisper to Jonathan, making her laugh even more.
"I am not," Rebecca said with a pout.
"Oh I was about her age when I realized I had a crush," Helena admitted.
"Yeah, we all know who," Rae teased.
Everyone laughed at Helena’s expense making her roll her eyes in response.
"I clearly got my man," Helena answered back.
"And he got you," Rae said as she pointed at the sleeping Ronan.
"Okay, okay, enough. Now that introductions are over," Alyssa glared at her daughter. "Helena you have some explaining to do."
"I do?" Helena asked as she tried to feign innocence.
Alyssa gave her a look and when Helena turned to Rae, her friend backed away not wanting to be part of the conversation.
"Did you know you were pregnant when you left?" Alyssa said, glaring at her daughter.
Helena looked down and shuffled her feet like a child caught red-handed.
"Yes," she admitted.
"And you didn’t bother to tell me? Why did you even leave?" Alyssa questioned.
"You’d ask me to stay and I wouldn’t be able to leave. I had to leave for the pack, mom the warlocks and witches are back and we don’t know what they want!" Helena answered.
"What do you mean they are back?" Alyssa’s voice was shaking.
"Why do you think I visited Grandmama Dora?" Helena asked. "Mom, someone with magic is helping our enemies and it seems they are after me."
