Chapter 124: CHAPTRE

Helena continued to act like she was still too weak from the Wolfsbane in her system. For some reason, despite the multiple doses from earlier, she didn’t feel as weak as when she first came to. She couldn’t help but wonder if it was thanks to her Hybrid heritage that she was recovering quickly this time around.

"So weak," the woman in front of her mocked, pulling her back from her thoughts. "I really don’t understand what he sees in you."

The woman clicked her tongue as she walked around the room.

"If I had my way you’d be dead by now," the woman said. "Unfortunately this poor excuse for an Alpha wants you alive. Says he needs you to get that Mate of yours, so for now we’ll play nice."

The woman once again laughed as her heels clicked on the floor. Helena could tell she was studying her, probably checking to see if she showed any signs of recovery from the poison.

"Quite unfortunate that the Grand Warlock managed to get everyone back, I honestly don’t know how he did it," the woman said. It seemed she didn’t know that Helena had acted as a tether. "His presence complicates things. I’d hoped that when he came back he’d find his heir dead and the only resistance I’d face was his sister, but the old man managed to pull off a return."

She sounded furious, but at the same time, Helena couldn’t help but think this witch was being careless.

"I doubt you even know who I am," the woman said as she moved closer to Helena. "Of course, you don’t, but damn do you look like him."

Helena was caught off guard as the woman pinched her chin and raised it to see Helena’s face more clearly.

To sell that she was still suffering from the wolfsbane, Helena groaned in pain.

"What a weak child you are," the woman mocked. "You’d think being his daughter you’d have an ounce of his strength, of his power."

The woman let go of Helena as she stood up.

It was silent for a moment and Helena contemplated pushing her to speak more, but the woman needed no encouragement.

"If he hadn’t gone against the Grand Warlock’s wishes and stayed away from those damned wolves Vincent would still be alive!" the woman screamed. "He’d be married to me by now as our parents agreed and we’d have children far more powerful than you, but no, he just had to waltz into Blackmoon territory and make friends with their Alpha heir. The same Alpha Heir that led him to his mate!"

Helena was stunned by the revelation.

No one had told her that her father was engaged to a witch before meeting her mother, then again it shouldn’t come as a surprise to her.

Witches and Warlocks didn’t have mates, according to her Grandfather they chose who they married, be it for love or for power. She just couldn’t believe that her Grandfather would bind her father to a woman he didn’t love.

The woman moved close again, but whatever she was about to do was halted when the door creaked open behind her.

"Alpha said I couldn’t leave you alone for too long with this one," a gruff voice said. "She’s too important for you to damage."

"I won’t damage her, I swore an oath," the woman huffed. "Tell that pup to trust me and our oath."

The man scoffed at her words but didn’t make a move to leave.

"I just walked in here with your hand raised, I know you want to hit her," the man said.

"Won’t be enough to damage her," the woman answered.

"I won’t risk it, Falon," a very familiar voice said as another person joined them. "I can smell your anger."

Helena wanted to look up, she wanted to confirm with her own eyes that the voice she was hearing belonged to someone she’d trusted with so much over the years.

"I think you like her," Falon, the witch, said mockingly. "I’ve seen the way you look at her. I know you want her for yourself. Did you know there’s an ancient spell that could dull the mate bond? I could cast it for you, Alpha. I could make sure that you could have her for yourself. Imagine those pretty pouty lips wrapped around your—"

"Don’t you dare finish that statement!" the man growled.

Helena couldn’t believe her ears.

The man that the voice belonged to wasn’t an Alpha. She’d known him for so long, he’d never mentioned anything about being an Alpha to a pack, also she would have sensed it.

"We both know what you have planned after this," Falon hissed. "After you kill her mate."

"That’s none of your business," the man growled.

"Oh, but it is Alpha," Falon said, her tone dripping with poison. "She needs to die. The Grand Warlock’s line needs to end with her."

Helena’s heart stopped at the realization that he hadn’t told Falon that the last time he’d seen her she was pregnant, that the Grand Warlock’s line was not going to end with her.

"You’re testing my patience," he hissed at Falon.

"You need me just as much as I need you," Falon pointed out. "You want justice, I’m giving it to you, but give me what I want. Her fucking head on a silver platter."

"Out!" the man roared, this time Helena sensed a little Alpha aura laced with his voice.

It was weak, but there was no doubt he came from an Alpha lineage.

Helena wondered if Falon would retaliate, but to her surprise, she heard Falon’s grumbling as she left the room, slamming the door behind her.

The man sighed as he approached Helena. Helena couldn’t help but hold her breath as he inched near.

"Why did you have to be his Mate, Helena?" Alphonse’s familiar voice said as his scent reached her nose. "If I kill him will you become mine? By the Goddess I hope you do, cause that the only way to protect you from Falon."

"You’ve become oddly silent," the man said. "I think you need another dose."

She heard the man snap his fingers as someone approached her and grabbed her arm roughly.

Based on the scent and the person’s ability to handle wolfsbane without any harm, Helena assumed it was a witch, but with the effects of the Wolfsbane still in her system Helena couldn’t see or scent those around her clearly.

"My dearest Luna Helena, your mate’s greatest weakness is his love for you," the man said.

As he spoke Helena felt the needle pierce her arm as a fire burned through her veins, it was without a doubt the effect of the wolfsbane.

Helena closed her eyes and focused on her breathing.

She tried to reach out to Hera but to no avail.

She knew it was unlikely that she could reach her wolf, but she had to try.

Crying out in pain she could hear the man’s laughter, he was enjoying her suffering.

"I fucking swear, when I get out of here I’m not just going to kill you," Helena cursed. "You will suffer before I kill you. I’ll make sure to pay you back tenfold for what you’re doing and when you’ve had enough, when you’re begging for death I will not fucking grant it!"

"It seems she needs more," the man said.

At his command, another needle pierced through Helena’s skin and the burning sensation filled her body.

It was so painful that Helena could feel her senses shutting down to protect her.

"You’ll regret this," Helena hissed as the world around her dimmed and she lost consciousness once again.

She didn’t know how much time had passed, but when she came to once more she was haunted by the sound of dripping water.

Her head pounded, probably the effects of all the wolfsbane in her system.

This time, she was alone.

Helena struggled to sit up, it took her a while, but eventually, she was upright and managed to prop herself against the wall.

She studied her surroundings carefully.

There was a dim light that allowed her to see what little was in the room.

It was a small space, probably a basement of a building. She doubted that her captors could take her far.

The ground was hard and the walls damp, with moss growing on the walls.

There was leaky faucet and pale in one corner but it was too far for Helena to crawl to.

She closed her eyes and took deep breaths as she tried to recover from the wolfsbane.

When she was finally ready to move, the door creaked and Helena continued to pretend to be weak.

"So you’re the half-breed the Grand Warlock wants as his heir," a woman said in a mocking tone. "I will not let my people be led by a weakling like you. Even if I have to work with mutts like that filth outside."
