Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix -
Chapter 1300 - 1300: Destruction
"Dude, that is my line," Rain said. "You sent your minions to attack us alongside other assholes. The nerve you have to say that…"
The golden mechanical knight stood tall and imposing, distinct from its subordinates. Its metallic armor gleamed with a polished gold hue, adorned with intricate blue lines that crisscrossed its entire body. The lines seemed to pulsate with energy, giving the impression of a formidable power coursing through the knight.
Unlike the other mechanical knights armed with shields and spears, this golden figure wielded two menacing swords crafted from dark blue mana. The swords emanated an otherworldly aura, and the edges seemed to be constantly shifting and reshaping, giving an ominous sense of unpredictability.
The knight's design exuded an air of authority, suggesting that it was a superior force among the mechanical ranks.
As it approached, the golden mechanical knight moved with an unsettling grace, each step accompanied by a resonant hum of energy. The blue lines on its body glowed brighter, emphasizing the potent magic embedded within. Rain faced this new adversary, the confrontation about to unfold amidst the clash of metal and the hum of mystical energy.
The enemy charged in and then swung his sword downward with all his might. Rain immediately used Impulse to the side to avoid the hit, and then he saw what the swords could do… it rendered the ground like it was made of butter, and the shockwave of the attack created a fissure that extended for fifty meters.
"I can't block that with my bare hands," Rain thought.
Using the ominous sword was an option, but even then, Rain wasn't sure if it was the best of the ideas. Before Rain could think of anything else, the enemy began to charge toward him while spinning his body insanely fast. Rain jumped away backward a bunch of times, but the enemy was getting closer.
Rain suddenly changed directions to attack the side of the enemy, but the lord quickly reacted to it and targeted his head. Rain disappeared from the enemy's sight, but when he appeared behind the enemy, he had already turned as well… Rain also felt a burning pain in his arm, and he found a large wound there… he was cut by the energy sword, but the wound was cauterized immediately.
"... This is something that Terra will have a hard time healing fast enough," Rain thought. "I will have to get rid of the dead skin for that to work as fast as it should…"
The enemy approached Rain again… he was determined to only use that simple but very effective technique, but Rain had a few tricks of his own as well.
When the energy sword was about to reach him, Rain suddenly blocked the spinning attack with a pair of dark mana swords as well… dark sparks in the air began to spread around, but Rain was still being pushed backward, and his swords were cracking as well.
Lvl 1: Summon Mana Sword (150) - Conjures a magical sword made of pure mana, increasing attack power by three points per level.
"Even at level 150…" Rain thought, and then the swords snapped.
The enemy charged to finish Rain off in a single strike, but then he suddenly raised his swords and blocked the fall of a giant dark mana hammer. It completely stopped the enemy's spinning, but before Rain could use that chance, the hammer fell apart, and then the enemy was ready to face him.
"This is going to be hard without my help, it is up to you making this easier or not," Elisabetha said.
Rain wanted to deny that, but she had a point… the best option would be to combine their wraths on the sword. That should be enough to counter the energy swords. Still, there was a very obvious problem…
The enemy attacked Rain again while spinning like a top, but Rain blocked the enemy with the ominous sword charged with dark flames… the rotation of the enemy stopped, but he still had the chance to spin one more time and then attack Rain with one sword while the other was blocking the ominous sword… that was the thing that he wanted to avoid.
Rain disappeared from the enemy's sight by using his short distance moment technique, but soon he felt a sharp pain in his wrist… before long, he lost his sense of touch on his left-hand fingers… much to Rain's surprise, he saw one of the energy blades shrinking… it seemed that the enemy increased their size for a moment to surprise Rain.
"Wow… there is a small hole on your wrist," Elisabetha said.
Rain didn't want to check that, but he could tell that she wasn't lying. The energy swords could burn flesh quite easily, after all. Rather, it was more accurate to say that it completely pulverized anything that touched.
The enemy charged in again to finish off Rain, who could only use one hand to wield the ominous sword, but soon, the lord was forced to stop when several dark mana hammers began to fall from the sky and target his head. While he blocked the attacks, he looked at Rain, who looked calm as ever, waving his wounded hand without a care.
The golden mechanical knight, while momentarily halted by the onslaught of dark mana hammers, showed some confidence. In his mind, he believed that Rain would soon exhaust his mana, leaving him defenseless and vulnerable. The lord was patient, convinced that killing Rain would be a simple matter once he reached that point.
However, to his surprise, Rain demonstrated resilience beyond his expectations. As Rain got rid of the burned flesh and healed his wounds, there were no signs of mana depletion. The enemy's certainty began to waver as Rain stood before him, seemingly unaffected by the previous attacks.
This unexpected turn of events planted a seed of doubt in the enemy's mind. Rain's endurance and ability to sustain his powers challenged the assumptions the golden mechanical knight had made.
