Rain soon confirmed that and clicked his tongue in annoyance. If the enemy was planning to make him waste time like that, he might as well just use the wrath path once more and finish that thing off.

"Guys, keep attacking the enemy from a distance," Rain said. "I will try to put the enemy against the wall."

No one had time to say anything. Rain just summoned some dark mana shields and crossed the miasma, opening a path toward the enemy. The others soon realized that they could do the same and so they did it to protect themselves.

When Rain got closer, the beast flinched, but soon, it swung upward and down its massive and long trunk to smash Rain. However, he blocked the attack with the shield as well. Before long, he grabbed the ominous sword and, with its dark flames, began to cut down the bones of the monster.

"Do that again," Rain said.

"As if I have enough time," Elisabetha said.

Despite her complaints, Elisabetha used her combined power with the insect queen core and began to drain the mana from the bones, making them even more frail than before.

Upon realizing the danger that he was facing, the undead king soon summoned countless bone spears around and fired them toward Rain. He disappeared while being enveloped by the numerous spears, but they never touched him… The spears were repelled by a wind wall as Rain used the mana that Elisabetha sent him.

Before long, the trunk of the monster was destroyed, and the beast tried to hit Rain with a body slam.

The weight behind the monster made Rain get hit, and he felt like he was being smashed by a mountain… but soon the creature fell to the ground and lost speed… the attacks of the others caused a lot of damage to the legs of the monster, and Elisabetha also made it lose durability by draining the mana of the beast. Thanks to all, one of its legs had fallen apart.

"Just die, retard," Rain said.

Rain recovered from the shock and then charged to split the spine of the monster in two… but soon, the monster trembled and exploded. A massive explosion erupted from the disintegrating bone creature, sending bone fragments and debris flying in all directions. Sharp shards pierced through the air like deadly projectiles, creating a chaotic scene of destruction.

Rain, caught in the midst of the explosion, felt the impact of bone shrapnel piercing through his body. The pain was excruciating, and the force of the explosion sent him tumbling through the air. But something more insidious accompanied the physical agony – the overwhelming influence of the enemy's sloth power.

As the bone fragments embedded themselves in Rain's body, the power of the sloth took hold, draining away his motivation and will to fight. It was as if a heavy, suffocating lethargy had settled over him, making every movement a monumental effort. The once fervent desire to continue the battle now felt like a distant memory, replaced by an overwhelming urge to surrender and rest forever.

In the midst of the swirling chaos, Rain struggled to find purpose. The motivation that fueled his pursuit of power seemed to vanish, leaving behind a profound emptiness. The battlefield, once a stage for epic clashes, now felt like a desolate wasteland where the weight of sloth pressed down on him…

Even changing his path seemed like a massive pain in the ass, and that would only take a moment and a single thought… once again, it took all of Rain's remaining willpower to fight back the sloth and change his path to the diligence, but things only truly looked up when Elisabetha used the dark flames around the sword to burn the shrapnel of bones on his body.

"He is trying to run away. You can't let that happen," Elisabetha said.

Rain got up while groaning as the effects of the sloth left his body, and then he looked around. It seemed that his friends got hit as well, but he could help them later… because he saw a skeleton running away from the battlefield.

"Ugh, this mission has been truly tiresome," Rain said.

Rain fought the exhaustion and soon used Impulse to reach the enemy. The undead king looked like an ordinary skeleton at the moment. After losing all of his mana, his powers should be limited, but that was fine. Rain only wanted his knowledge. In the end, the damn coward didn't even try to turn around and fight… Rain covered him in a thick layer of ice.

It was the only thing he could do until he found a way to seal that guy for good.

"Maybe I can use his powers to make the other cores lose their willpower and spill the beans," Rain thought. "Well, for now… it is time to return to the base."

Rain returned to his comrades. The battle had taken a toll on everyone, and Rain assisted in tending to their wounds. The group, though physically drained and emotionally exhausted, managed to heal themselves to some extent.

Together, they began the journey back towards their base. The motivation to walk was all that remained, overshadowed by the lingering fatigue and the weight of the arduous mission. The landscape, once filled with the thrill of battle, now felt like a desolate expanse as they moved forward in silence.

When they finally arrived at the base, the sight of Sealyn, Seara, and Terra in perfect condition came as a surprising relief. Apparently, their task had been significantly easier compared to Rain and his group's intense battle. The contrast between the two groups highlighted the unpredictability of the challenges they faced in the zone they were in.
