Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1261 - 1261: Not yet

When Rain's squad members were about to reach the next battlefield, where Seadrei's squad was fighting four of the giant death knights, Rain flew above them faster than the wind. Thanks to that, he attacked the back of one of the giant death knights and made the beast stumble.

Two of the giant death knights swiftly turned to face Rain as he looked back at Seadrei and his squad. The scene was grim—Seadrei's squad was in a dire state. One of the members was missing, while the others struggled to maintain their footing, bearing the brunt of the relentless attacks.

Seadrei's arms, once clear and formidable, had taken on a deep purple hue, a testament to the intense strain he endured from repeatedly blocking the giant death knights' bone swords. Despite his best efforts, it was evident that Seadrei and his squad were reaching their limits, and the odds were stacked against them.

Seadrei had the chance to take a breath for a moment, but soon he realized that something was off… Rain wasn't with his sword. That couldn't be a good thing. Regardless, they didn't have time to talk about that, and the two giant death knights swung their swords to kill Rain.

Rain jumped to the side and avoided the hit. He soon assumed his fighting stance and began to charge a punch with energy. As soon as the enemies noticed that, they tried to hit him from the sides, forcing him to jump upward… one of the enemies changed the direction of their attacks and hit Rain from below… but he decreased the power of the impact by using his charged punch.

The attack pushed Rain upward, and during the flight, he kept looking around. At the same time, his squad members began to fire dark mana blades toward the enemies… it seemed that their wrath path leveled up a bit, but the frequency of their attacks was a lot lower than before.

Soon enough, Rain stopped his ascension as he reached a barrier of the prison in the sky; it was just a bit taller than the giant death knights, so soon they reached him with a swing of their swords, but soon their weapons cut the air, and Rain disappeared.

The monsters looked around in confusion since Rain had disappeared… the miasma coming from their bodies was supposed to help them find him, but there was no sign of his approach… Rain bought some time with that, but soon, he appeared on the handle of one of the enemy's swords and covered it with the dark ice.

The other giant, death knight, swung down his sword to hit him, but Rain disappeared once again, and the sword only chopped off the hands of its ally. That had been better than expected, but the hands were reattached in the blink of an eye. Before long, Rain reappeared in front of his squad, and they were caught off guard. Rain's domain and his water mirror technique left them speechless…

"Change of plans. Since you guys don't have much mana left, focus on causing blunt damage instead of piercing their bodies," Rain said. "You should be able to summon mana hammers by now."

"But Captain, the level of that skill is slow."

"It is fine; the skill isn't what is causing damage, but the power of wrath," Rain said. "Just make sure to hit the enemies."

Rain's squad members exchanged confused glances as they processed Rain's instructions. Before they could articulate their confusion, Rain vanished from their sight. Following his orders, they summoned mana hammers, which spun in the air before flying towards the giant death knights.

Upon impact, the mana hammers struck the giant death knights with a force that reverberated through their bone structures. The creatures trembled under the unexpected attack, their towering forms temporarily destabilized by the relentless blows.

Despite the squad members' concerns about the slow level of the mana hammer skill, the sheer power fueled by the Wrath coursing through them proved effective in causing significant blunt damage to the foes.

It was hard to see the annoyance in the enemy's eyes since they didn't have eyes, but Rain bet that they were quite pissed… they took a glance at his squad members, but not for long since Rain approached. Once again, they swung their swords at the same time, and Rain jumped to avoid one and then punched the other.

The impact pushed him down, but he landed on his feet while the enemy was forcing the weapon to smash him.

"Not… yet… huh?" Rain thought.

Rain used Impulse and then avoided the hit and kept using the same tactic while moving around the monsters. While the beasts were looking for a chance to strike him. The land trembled for a moment, and Rain almost lost his balance… when he looked to the side, he saw Seadrei covered in blood and leaving a curtain of dust.

"We are in a bind… I didn't imagine that it would take this long," Rain thought.

Rain had to buy time, and to do so, he had to become stronger and attract the attention of all the enemies, or at least as many of them as possible. In the end, Rain decided to run away from the battlefield for a moment…

Rain's squad saw Rain disappearing in the distance while wondering what was going on… in the end, they didn't have time for that because the giant death knights soon turned to attack them. They were pretty pissed after getting hit by a bunch of mana hammers, after all.

Rain's squad kept firing mana hammers at the enemies to slow them down, but that barely made any difference since the monsters used the swords to block the attacks… they considered running away, but that would be the end of the other groups… in the end, they stood their ground and decided to fight until the end, but then when the enemies raised their weapons… black lightning hit one of them and made the giant death knights hit each other.
