Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix -
Chapter 1236 - 1236: Secret weapon
"I already have enough problems as it is... why do I have to worry about this as well?" Rain thought while massaging his eyebrows.
It didn't take long for Seadrei to urge everyone to take action… While some people agreed with him, instead of letting the demons decide the flow of the battle, they thought that it would be wiser to decrease their strength while using their base.
"Why are you so worked up, Dad?" Seara asked. "This is the type of plan that we haven't heard you proposing in quite a while."
"This place is dangerous, even more so for us," Seadrei explained. "Even if we create an encirclement that the sea folk can survive and endure the conditions, it is still too dangerous. Staying away from real saltwater is something that we can't afford to do for several months nonstop."
He had a point, and that convinced Seara… but Rain felt that he was hiding something. Rain knew the composition of the ocean and he could create a large size one daily if he wanted. The bacteria in the atmosphere would have a hard time dealing with it. They are still researching a trick to deal with the bacteria once and for all.
Terra took that role since she was their best healer, and Larisa had some knowledge of medicine and biology as well. It's not like that would be enough to fight chemical weapons.
"The first plan worked, and it will be even better now that we have more people here," Seadrei said. "With my help, Rain will be able to kill the demon king as fast as possible. The others can continue with the chaotic water tornado plan."
"I am not suited for that kind of job," Sealyn said.
"You will have to deal with it since everyone has their roles whether they like it or not," Seadrei said.
Seadrei's stern tone and the hint of anger in his voice caught everyone by surprise. It was a rare occurrence to witness the seasoned sea folk warrior displaying any form of frustration, especially towards his own granddaughter. Sealyn, noticing the unusual edge in her grandfather's words, chose not to press the matter further.
This marked the first time she had seen Seadrei express anger, a rarity that added an air of seriousness to the situation.
The unspoken tension lingered in the air as the group contemplated Seadrei's words. It became obvious that there was more to the situation than initially met the eye, and Rain couldn't shake the feeling that Seadrei was keeping something crucial from them.
The urgency of the mission and the potential dangers of the chaotic realm weighed heavily on their shoulders, and the uncharacteristic display of anger from Seadrei only heightened the sense of unease among the group.
"Should I ask him? If it were something simple, he would have said it already," Rain thought. "It doesn't seem like anyone has realized this yet… why can't I afford a single day of peace?"
Rain's gut instincts were telling him that he shouldn't ignore his instincts, but he also felt like he would regret it if he tried to pry on it.
"Should we rely solely on that combination?" Seara asked. "While it was useful against the robots, the large-scale attacks of the demons might cause more damage, and they aren't as heavy as the robots, so they might be able to cross that water turbulence."
"What are the other combinations that you came up with, Rain?' Terra asked.
"We should keep using the water turbulence for a bit longer…" Rain said.
"Why?" Terra asked.
"I still want to get ahead of you all with those techniques," Rain replied.
"Cut the crap and say it already," Terra said.
"Let's see… it might be worth testing in the battle, but using water with the chastity path active should help a lot," Rain said.
"Please say that you are thinking that it will create holy water," Nigel said.
"No, you retard," Rain said. "We can't even tell the nature of those monsters yet. There is nothing saying that holy water would actually work on them. Water and chastity should calm down their nerves and make them lose the will to fight. Or so goes the theory. I guess we need a guinea pig."
"Who has the highest level in the chastity path?" Terra asked. "This is a weird thing to ask…"
The highest level was Seadrei and it was only fifteen. At least among the males and the women among the group was fifty… they could tell the reason why. The path made the users feel less horny, that was why they didn't level up that path.
"Seriously, you guys are just unbelievable," Sealyn said and then sighed. "In a situation like this, we don't have time for anything else aside from survival."
Wrong. Men are such creatures that they can't help but feel their urges at the weirdest of the times. Even when they didn't feel like it, sometimes the sword would unsheath itself. No one dared say that out loud, though.
In the end, they had to change their plan since the charity path's overall level was too low, and they didn't have time to make it stronger. They began to work on the next plan, and Rain used his secret technique to solve the mystery that Seadrei was carrying.
Level 25: Body Language Reader (70) - Enhances the ability to recognize microexpressions, allowing for more accurate assessments of hidden emotions. Gains proficiency in deciphering the meaning behind various postures and body positions, increasing the accuracy of interpretations by 5% per level.
After equipping the skill, Rain immediately noticed more clearly that Seadrei was thinking seriously about something. He often was caught thinking deeply about something while looking at the horizon and in no particular direction.
He was contemplating life for some reason, and in that sense, Rain could tell that Seadrei was worried about someone living in that zone, and he wanted to improve conditions or make them escape that place as soon as possible.
