Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1231 - 1231: Taking chances

"Cease your attack and surrender peacefully. If you agree to those terms, I guarantee the safety of your allies."

Rain attempted to control the flames in the sword and spin around him to hit whatever was holding his arm, but the flames didn't obey him… they only moved around the sword… it seemed that it was due to Elisabetha's anger… it made sense since they were connected now.

Regardless, Rain jumped a bit and then used his two feet to hit something that was in front of him. He freed himself and soon landed with his guard up… he felt the impact; it had been hard… he was certain that he hadn't caused any damage.

"Fighting is useless. You won't accomplish anything. Just surrender peacefully."

Rain sighed one more time and then began to focus. He used Impulse left and right, leaving a trail of dark flames behind whenever he moved. Eventually, he felt something and dashed toward it with all his might before swinging down his sword, but the attack was stopped once more before it could gain momentum… Rain was grabbed on his wrists.

In the next moment, Rain jumped again to kick the enemy, but soon he found himself free of the grip… he used that chance to recall his domain and change its nature… when he charged once more and repeated the same actions, the enemy grabbed his wrists, but then the enemy was shocked when he passed by Rain's domain.

A weird liquid thing appeared around Rain being electrocuted, it seemed humanoid, but it had six arms. Before he could use that chance to do anything, the creature freed itself and moved away.

"It isn't an ordinary machine, so electricity didn't fry its circuits…" Rain thought.

Rain found himself in a predicament, grappling with the unexpected resilience of his adversary. This wasn't a typical robot with vulnerable circuits; it defied the conventional weaknesses Rain had encountered before. In the realm of advanced civilizations, it was only natural that adversaries wouldn't harbor such an obvious flaw.

The encounter also highlighted Rain's limited experience with swordplay, making his frustration palpable. The sword, ominous and empowered by Elisabetha's rage, had proven to be a double-edged weapon. Unable to control the flames as he desired and facing an opponent with an unfamiliar composition, Rain decided to extinguish the flames and place the sword on his back.

The decision reflected Rain's adaptability in the face of unforeseen challenges. He acknowledged his lack of expertise with swords and chose to shift tactics, opting for a more strategic approach in dealing with the foe. After taking a deep breath, he summoned the giant earth arms that he was used to. In the next moment, he appeared in front of the enemy and hit him with all his might.

The impact made the entire chamber shake, and sparks appeared on the ground as the enemy was pushed backward… he barely had time to defend himself. What was even more surprising was the fact that Rain pulled that off with something as basic as earth around his fists.

"That isn't ordinary dust particles. What is it?"

"They are dust particles enhanced by the power of friendship," Rain said. "They are harder than vibranium, mithril and contravium."

"Power of friendship, what form of power is that?"

Rain, despite the desire to let out a sigh, quickly dismissed any expectations of the machine, comprehending his great sense of humor. There was no room for wasting time either, especially with his allies engaged in battle outside. Unhesitant, the earth surrounding Rain's arms underwent a transformation, adopting an ominous obsidian hue.

Originally intending to showcase only one combination, circumstances compelled him to reveal more than planned – a demonstration of the powerful fusion between earth magic and the potent force of wrath.

Rain swung down his arms up and down and hit it. Making cracks appear all around the room. The vibrations made the mana that changed the appearance of the place lose balance and after several hits, Rain could tell that he was inside a room filled with transpare blue monitors. Before long, he saw some creatures leaving those monitors and soon charged at him…

Those creatures had six arms as well, a metallic liquid body, and a triangular head. They soon charged at Rain to stop him, but he swung his fists around and smashed their faces.

When the fifth and last one approached, Rain raised his fist and swung it down to smash the creature on the ground… it felt like he was smashing a hard tomato… but it was a tomato that could repair itself before being completely smashed.

"If it is only for a short while…" Rain thought. "I will take my chances."

The patience path lost a level.

The wrath path leveled up.

The diligence path lost a level.

The wrath path leveled up.

The charity path lost a level.

The wrath path leveled up.

Rain traded the power of the other paths to enhance the wrath's path… thanks to it, the earth around his arms began darker and darker. They became weirdly lighter as well, while Rain's mind started to get more foggy. It reached a point where his patience was weaker than his wrath, so it was no surprise.

More weird creatures came from the monitors now that looked like they were emitting static only and tried to overwhelm Rain from all sides. But soon Rain began to spin like a top and send them flying to opposite directions… it was a simple, but effective strategy and forced the enemy to stop using those minions. Rain used that chance to attack the ground once more and damage the whole structure.

"I have judged that the knowledge that you possess isn't valuable enough to justify the destruction of my base. Proceeding to focus on elimination of the target."

The unknown creatures quickly moved and began to fuse together. At the same time, Rain lowered his stance and then moved his right arm backward.
