Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1227 - 1227: Sixty percent

Sealyn didn't want to stay out of that kind of job, but she knew that she wasn't much interested in details when it comes to fighting. She was too used to drawing the attention of the enemy and doing whatever she wanted, after all.

Everyone went to sleep while hugging their knees since the cave was cramped already. Rain wondered if one of the reasons why the place hadn't been found until now was the size… Regardless, the hideout wasn't big enough for twenty people, so they had to conquer the enemy's base without failure.

"That will be a lot of work, but even after that… it will be just the beginning," Rain thought.

After successfully conquering an enemy's base, the winners must engage in a series of post-conquest activities to maximize the benefits of their victory and address potential challenges.

Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the conquered base. Identify strengths such as strategic location, defensive structures, resource stockpiles, and advanced technology. Simultaneously, pinpoint weaknesses, such as vulnerable entry points, potential security breaches, or critical infrastructure that could be exploited by adversaries.

Fortify the conquered base against potential counterattacks. Strengthen defensive measures by reinforcing walls, improving surveillance systems, and establishing secure perimeters. Implement strategic chokepoints and create contingency plans for various scenarios.

"If only I had a bit more time…" Rain thought when he had a certain idea.

"That wouldn't work; only someone like you, with your magic skills and your high levels in the virtue paths, would pull that off," Elisabetha said. "Don't count on things to make people do when they can't do it already."

"Seriously… why do you only speak when no one is around?" Rain asked. "I am trying to look less suspicious to my wives, but it seems that fate itself wants to make me look like a player."

"There are truly no hidden reasons for it," Elisabetha said. "If you weren't the vessel for my power, I probably wouldn't talk with you. Talking even with the other relics is a pain in the ass."

"Ouch," Rain said.

Rain was a bit antisocial when he came to that world, but even he wouldn't go that far. Still, that was only how much Elisabetha was focused on her goals… while she had calmed down thanks to being in Rain's possession and for him having the patience path, she was still the same person who lived that crazy life before.

"In your memories, we saw a bunch of your copies. How did you make them?" Rain asked.

"You don't want to know, and they aren't convenient copies that you can control with a single thought," Elisabetha explained. "They operated by themselves."

The ideas that came to Rain's mind were rather dark… Elisabetha was probably on the level of the leaders of that zone. It was a good thing that they were on the same side.

In any case, Rain had enough time to test a bunch of things by himself since the planning had been fairly easy. There were only so many things that they could do, after all. Besides, it was better to focus on the simple instead of trying too hard and then messing up with something overly complicated.

"I should stick to the simple as well and don't show that much since who knows who is watching,' Rain thought.

After a night of uneasy rest in the cramped cave, the group woke up to eat and hear about what Rain came up with. The simple breakfast, conjured with Rain's magic, lacked the flavor and variety they were accustomed to. It consisted of basic nutrients to sustain them but left a lingering sense of dissatisfaction.

With the treant people yet to arrive, the group collectively decided to keep themselves occupied. Some engaged in combat drills, practicing their skills to stay sharp. Others inspected and maintained their equipment, ensuring everything was in working order. A few delved into magical training, honing their abilities for the challenges of the mission.

Despite the monotony and discomfort, the group remained resilient, finding solace in the shared purpose of their mission.

"Is this truly going to work?" Terra frowned when she heard of Rain's plan. "This seems rather dangerous and uncertain... we don't have time to test it either."

"I would say that the chances are around sixty percent," Rain said. "Thanks to the limited knowledge that we have about the enemies, we can't do much else aside from that."

Aside from Sealyn, everyone looked a bit unskeptical about the plan, even Terra, who had known Rain the longest. In any case, at least Terra knew that Rain wouldn't come up with a plan that would be overly dangerous. She knew how overprotective he was, after all.

"All right, this will be enough. It is time to move on," Sealyn said. "Arel, if you would, please."

"I am monitoring their base, and I suggest that you all wait for a bit," Arel said. "While the battle that they have with the demons should start in six hours, they usually are completely ready to mobilize four hours before that happens."

Sealyn's impatience was evident as Arel suggested waiting for two more hours before launching their attack. The idea of allowing someone else to decide the optimal timing was against her preference for taking immediate action. Her instincts urged her to press forward, unwilling to linger in uncertainty when there was a mission at hand.

"I don't like the idea of waiting around for two more hours. We're capable of making our own decisions and choosing when to strike," Sealyn thought. "Relying on someone else to dictate our timing feels too unnerving… that being said, we can't tell if she is lying or not."

Sealyn, though begrudgingly acknowledging Arel's advice, couldn't shake off the feeling of restlessness. Her desire to be in control and take charge clashed with the uncertainty of waiting. The minutes ticked by, each one feeling like an eternity as she struggled to accept the temporary delay in their plans.
