Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1224 - 1224: Impatience

Rain felt like he should have learned at least the principles of that technique, but there was no point in thinking about that now, though. Although she had the chance to use a bunch of new skills and paths and she was also quite strong and had three relics with her, Sealyn had a hard time opening a path through the enemies line.

"The hardness of the body of those white creatures and the regenerating skills of the others surprised me," Sealyn explained.

"They fight everyday against each other and somehow they restore their armies on the same manner, so it seems that we will have to get rid of one of them within day, the bes time will be after one of the battles," Rain epxlained. "Their defenses will be compromised, after all.

Attacking the demons would be harder since they would make more noise and that would alert the other enemies… as for the robots, they can keep fighting even when they are half destroyed."

Choosing a target proved to be a challenging decision for Rain and Sealyn. Each faction had its unique strengths and weaknesses, and it seemed that the pros and cons almost balanced each other out. In order to make a more clear decision, they decided to gather intelligence by investigating the bases of the demons, robots, and zombies.

Exploring the territories of their potential adversaries would allow them to assess the situation more clearly. It could reveal vulnerabilities, strategic points, and potential resources within each faction. With this information, Rain and Sealyn hoped to make a more strategic and effective choice on which group to target first.

The task ahead was difficult, but they understood the importance of careful planning and reconnaissance in the unfamiliar and hostile environment they found themselves in.

"What kind of enemies are the closest to us, Arel?" Rain asked.

"There are all sorts, all kinds of types and sizes that can satisfy your curiosity," Arel said. "There are the death knights, doppelganger slimes, insectoid swarms and the orcs."

The Death Knights were formidable opponents, possessing powerful physical abilities and enhanced durability. Their undead nature made them resistant to various forms of damage, and they were often with many types of deadly weapons.

Doppelganger slimes were deceptive and adaptive. They could mimic the appearance and abilities of other beings, making it challenging to discern friend from foe. Their amorphous forms allowed them to squeeze through tight spaces and ambush unsuspecting targets.

The Insectoid Swarm was a relentless force of insect-like creatures. Their sheer numbers and collective intelligence made them a formidable threat. They could overwhelm enemies through sheer quantity and strategic coordination.

The orcs were known for their brute strength and proficiency in melee combat. Their tribal and organized nature allowed them to coordinate attacks effectively, making them a formidable force on the battlefield. This group in particular surprised Rain… he didn't expect to hear about them… and it was hard to imagine how plain orcs would be comparable to demons and death bots.

"Focusing on them might be troublesome, we might find ourselves surrounded by two troublesome armies," Rain said. "Since the atmosphere is already damaging us, we can't mess in any other way. Arel, do you know what makes this toxic air?"

"There is nothing toxic on it, there are only too many bacteria that eat anything that is organic," Arel said. "That is why you will have a hard time finding or cultivating anything here to eat."

"As if we don't have enough problems… bacteria that eat organic matter…" Rain said while rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "I guess our mana makes it a bit harder to be devoured. Still, we need something to counter that."

Rain had hoped for a more straightforward challenge, like dealing with poisonous air. Sakaki had previously studied the poison resistance of giant centipedes, providing Rain with valuable knowledge on the subject. In a different scenario, Rain could have applied that knowledge to create a solution within the system.

However, the situation with the bacteria in the air was proving to be a more complex and annoying problem, requiring a different approach.

The toxic atmosphere, not due to traditional poisons but rather an abundance of organic-consuming bacteria, presented a new challenge. Rain considered the resilience of mana against these bacteria, realizing that it provided some protection but wasn't a complete solution.

Faced with the scarcity of options, Rain considered the possibility of finding or creating a substance that could counteract the effects of the bacteria, ensuring their survival in this hostile environment. The quest for a solution became even more crucial as they prepared to explore the territories of the various factions surrounding them.

It didn't take long for Rain to find a solution to that problem… he just had to use Limit Breaker. The technique made his skin harder and overtime, it would emit steam… the bacteria wouldn't resist that combination. The only downside was the fact that it consumed a considerable amount of stamina.

"I should come up with a spell that restores stamina the next time," Rain thought.

Before long, Rain realized that Sealyn looked really troubled… there was nothing to do and the thought that the others would take weeks to join them was really annoying. At the same time, there wasn't much room for them to train.

"If you are bothered, you can use your time to think of ways to deal with the enemies based on the experience that you had when you fought them," Rain said. "There are some skills in the virtue paths that will help you by doing that, after all."

"Sorry, Dad," Sealyn said. "Doing that mental work is too bothersome for me. I rather do something more physical and with immediate results."

"... How about some experiments with water to fight the bacteria," Rain said. "You can also try to experiment with the water mirror technique since the enemies were able to find us when I used that and my domain. Hiding from them is almost impossible."
